Message: Hello all, I am just looking to make some new walking, cycling, camping/ hostelling friends and travel companions. . . I am a family man, but lack friends to go out and about with, as I live very rural, it is difficult to get out and meet people easily in my locality, so I want to find some like minded friends further afield. . I have lived in the North West for more than 7 years, but walked very little of it, so can anyone suggest some places to start walking. . . I really fancy starting off with camping along the Flyde coast somewhere, somehow, I just lack reliable adventurous friends to go off with and explore with or have some banter with around the BBQ/ camp fire. I walk mainly coastal and river based walks, I can walk some lower uplands, and eventually I hope to walk the high uplands in the UK, as hopefully my fitness improves. . . work in progress! I like coastal/ beach walks, visiting nice country inns for a meal, taking myself and my camera for a walk. . . I am an all weather walker, I am just lacking some company on my treks. . . . Hope to meet some new friends, just think it could be you !!

Message: Hi there, Im a single woman from North Yorkshire and wanting to meet female and or male walkers so we can walk regularly. I am a beginner and Im hoping to find experienced walkers who will show me the ropes etc as well as wanting to walk in various places. I cant read maps yet but have the correct equipement and lots of enthusiasm. I have just been on holiday to Cumbria and now know I dont want to climb mountains or walk in the more exposed areas i prefer more rolling countryside. I'm happy on any type of walk whether it be the local Peckforton Hills, the Peak district, Wales or the Lakes. I'm pretty good with a map and compass and happy to lead or follow. Message: WANTED - PARTNER FOR PYRENEAN WALK FROM ATLANTIC TO MEDITERRANEAN. I'm Steve, an experienced walker looking for a m/f partner to share the above challenging hike with me in 2014, largely following the 500 mile route of the HRP (Haute Randonnee Pyreneenne). Expected duration is around 6 weeks, long enough to really enjoy the experience rather than treat it as a route march. Young or old, age is immaterial, and whilst physical fitness is desirable you don't need to be an athlete. Rather more important is mental toughness, determination and a personality compatible with mine. I live near Southampton but will consider potential partners anywhere in the country provided we can get in some practice walks together. Have done lots of walking in the Yorkshire Dales, a little in the Lakes, and in Snowdonia. Have twice previously done the Yorkshire Three Peaks, but tend to do them seperately now to be able to enjoy the views more. Message: Hiya, I'm looking for walking friends, male or female, who want to get out and about locally and possibly further afield. I enjoy walking round The Yorkshire Moors, into The Dales, Forest of Bowland and Pendle. I'm a fairly experienced walker and a good navigator. I'm not into bagging or walking for the sake of it; I like to enjoy the walk and the experience. I enjoy anything from a 4 mile amble to about 14 miles in a day. I've done the Bronte Round (23 miles) over two days and The Bradford Millennium Way (46 miles) over 4 days. I like to finish off a good walk with a visit to a pub or café or a look around the local towns or villages. I quite often have time off in the week but also have some weekends off too. I'm a flexible, easy going person who can talk about a wide range of things. Give me a shout if you'd like to go for a walk!

Message: Hi, I'm Tony and my great passion is the British countryside and wildlife. I love walking in the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District and North York Moors. I used to play rugby, football and basketball, but advancing years have now restricted my sporting activities to gentler pastimes such as golf, darts and snooker. The two things at the top of my 'bucket list' (I HATE that expression!) are to climb all the Wainwrights and to see a full Ring Cycle (two down, two to go, with number 3 this July). Message: I first started walking about six years ago & really started to enjoy myself right from the start. I don't mind short one day walks, but always prefer when possible to do a full weekend or longer multi day walk when ever i get the chance. Never use B&B unless I'm forced - always preferring instead to use either hostels & bunk barns when available as I find them much more friendly places & far better value for money. I always give myself the option of camping on walks so always carry full eqp't when I'm away - quite happy to both wild camp & walk in all weather conditions too. Over the years I've always walked alone as I find this allows me to use my good map reading skills to plan my own routes & walk at my own pace. Although you meet others while walking it still tends to get a bit boring sometimes & i often wish I'd someone else to chat to. I tried group walking about 18 months ago & although its very friendly I don't think it's quite what I'm looking for. I'd like to get to meet another walker - preferably a female of around the same age & ability, who's also into my style of walking & who also has quite a lot of spare time on their hands. Due to carrying all this kit I'm not looking for the kind of walks where you've got to go racing up a steep mountain side like a bionic rat up a drain pipe! only to give yourself cardiac arrest - no fun in that!!! Trying to get a photo on here at the moment too, but having problems - give it another try.

Message: Hi My name is Mandy and i live in Nottinghamshire. I love the countryside, fresh air, peace and quiet of walking. I am very easy going and am happy walking and talking, having a good laugh or being quiet - however the mood takes us. Derbyshire is my nearest walking area and i love it. There is so much different walking here, i never tire of it. However i would like to walk in different areas and i would like to meet up with another female and as well as walk locally in Derbyshire i would like to walk and explore the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. I have done a few walks in the Lakes and i can feel the pull of the fells. I like to get off the beaten track as much as possible where there are fewer people and it is quieter. My navigation skills are not good, somehow i manage to get by. If you are enjoy map reading i would like to learn from you or if you are not too good either we could share and learn together. But it would be good to plan walks together and share the map reading to make it more enjoyable for both of us. I have my own transport and i am willing to travel into Derbyshire and further afield to the Lakes etc for days and weekends. I know a few good B & B's in the Lakes or camping would be something new i would be willing to get into. I work office hours so i can walk Saturdays and Sundays. I am not a quick walker, but prefer to go at a comfortable pace so that you can chat along the way, take in the scenery and take photos. If it appeals to you to walk in Derbyshire and the Lakes District etc to explore new areas and new challenges and support each other with a good chat and a laugh along the way please get in touch.
