Male Walker, 55, based near Leeds / York

Message: Hi, I'm a single (divorced), solvent, self employed mobile guy with a young outlook on life, gsoh and in good shape. I'd love some good female company when out walking to share life's experiences and interests, plus conversation and laughs along the way (and possibly leading to more). I'm free any day of the week with a little notice to (preferably) do circular walks of between 6 and 15 miles with a pack up and / or food and drink afterwards. I don't have children, or pets with legs, but wouldn't have a problem with someone who does. I've also got a Geography A-level and can read a map / compass so would hope not to get us lost whilst out there! If you think we'd get along, just for one day, please get in touch. You never know !

Female Walker, 57, based near Merseyside

Message: Hi, I'm a happy, intelligent, independent woman. I'm slim and fit and intend to stay that way!. I love driving particularly on the continent and am happy to travel in the UK in search of a good walk. I'm a keen walker with many other interests including travel (preferably, off the beaten track). I recently visited Siberia and China and got the 'bug' for more far-flung places. I have walked extensively in southern France and nothern Spain. La Gomera, a couple of years ago, was a great location to walk/hike in. As was the beautiful island of Crete last year. However, there are still plenty of stunning places in our own country Iv yet to explore. I particulary love walking in Snowdonia. I did Snowdon via Crib Goch a while ago and very much enjoyed that experience. Also the magestic Tryfan is a favourite. But in my book, any walk, long or short hard or not so, in congenial company, is a walk well worth doing! Id love to hear from male fellow walkers who enjoy the great outdoors, a laugh along the way and of course, well earned pint after! Christine.

Female Walker, 65, based near Kendal

Message: I am a fit and now retired (and widowed) female lucky enough to live near the Lake District and am seeking more walking companions with whom to share adventures in the Great Outdoors. I have many female walking companions but it would be nice to have some male company for a change. I continue to thrive on new experiences, enjoy the challenge of quite demanding walks and am a competent organiser and navigator, but taking time to admire the scenery, the flowers etc is also an essential element of a good day out. A pub meal to finish off the day is a bonus. I've walked a bit in the mountains of Europe, enjoy some simple scrambling, and have completed many long distance trails in the UK; I've walked in groups and on my own but now find I prefer the company of a like minded and compatible person with whom to share the pleasures, and sometimes the trials, of the day. I also cycle a bit, camp occasionally and am able to enjoy mountain huts and hostels as well as good hotels. Do please contact me if you are available to walk virtually anywhere in the north of England.

Female Walker, 57, based near North Bedfordshire

Message: Hi, I'm a single, 57 year old, female, who has just moved from the Derbyshire Peak District to rural Bedfordshire! So I'm missing the hills. I'm looking for a male friend for walking, talking, laughing and that pint/meal at the end of the day. I love walking in wild, empty places and don't mind roughing it occasionally to get to that special place. I completed the Coast to Coast in May and would like to do other trails........preferably using B&Bs! I've walked a lot in Europe, Canada, Patagonia and New Zealand and would love to discover new places. And I've recently discovered the delights of Assynt and Norway. I work full-time, so weekends tend to be reserved for walks. I'm not particularly fast - I like to take in everything around me rather than going on a route march! I'd love to hear from you if you have similar interests.

Male Walker, 45, based near Saddleworth

Message: Hello - I'm Tony and I'm interested in finding male & female walking companions to enjoy walking with. I am also interested in multi-day hikes/walks incorporating wild camping (or the nearest B&B if the rain is incessantly going sideways !). I like to 'enjoy' the walk and the scenery, not go charging around like some demented mountain goat on steroids, so I have limited my selections to grades 1-6. I'm interested in meeting partners both for walking, hiking & camping (organised site or wild) and am fortunate to enjoy a wide selection of kit & equipment ..... I could probably equip a small expedition ! I like walking in any weather though prefer it to be cooler especially if carrying multi-day kit. Whereas I climbed a bit when I was younger I tend not to go for overly technical routes .... the only things I scramble nowadays are eggs :) As a shift worker I can enjoy walks both at weekends & weekdays alike with planning and will gladly meet & share a walk with folk of all ages. Enjoy good conversation on just about any topic with the exception of football; and equally finding a nice post-walk watering hole :) I'm a competent navigator with both map/compass but always also carry a GPS and am always keen to learn more about both - also drive & can travel easily anywhere. We live in such a beautiful country with gorgeous & diverse scenery and it would be lovely to find new friends with whom to share such simple enjoyment as a walk in our countryside - hope to hear from you soon & thanks for reading - Tony

Male Walker, 60, based near Hemel Hempstead

Message: Recently retired professional male who can't stand being indoors. I usually do a couple of grade 3-4 walks a week and I hope to build-up to at least one 2/3 day walk each week, grade 5-9, in all weathers, over the winter months. I would prefer these to be mid-week but this is flexible. I'm looking for similar minded companions seeking to improve fitness, navigation, and hill-savvy skills. This is as much for safety reasons as for those deep philosophical conversations on climbs of 1000+ feet. I'm no Bear Grylls – I have a modern campervan than I use as a base for longer trips but I consider the local Travelodge/BandB to be mandatory for sleeping! The van provides a neat facility for setting the heating on automatic timer and my must-have:- freshly brewed coffee. I'm based in Hertfordshire and East Kent so I have a long drive to find any decent hills. You are bound to be en route to most of the national parks so location and lack of transport shouldn't put you off. I'm not all climbing and route-marches, and expect to include wild-life reserves and historical places in any itinerary – but no shopping malls! You should expect to budget £50-£100 expenses for each trip. I have no fixed plans or destinations, although the Munros in January are out, same for the Alps. Let me know if you are interested and we can have a trial stroll up Box Hill or similar.

Message: Hi I have been getting lazy of late and only been walking the rolling downs of Hampshire, I recently went up Pen Y Fan and my body reminded me of muscles I had forgotten about. I would love to get back into walking more challenging walks. Sharing the travel costs would be a great advantage. Message: Hi, Love being outdoors, love walking and being in nature. I'm looking and hoping for company on a few walks.Walked the Camino de Santiago this year and need to get out on a few more distant walks, all walks considered long or short and will travel to most destinations. Don't mind walking with groups or individuals . Happy to share with dogs as I have one of my own but she is too old and a little lazy these days so can't take her with me. Can go most days unless I'm away working but pretty flexible. Happy to do full weekends and not too past it to camp wild if required but very happy in a Guest house or hostel. I'm reasonably fit as I train most days and practice martial arts too so most paces ok with me as long as now and again we can have a stroll and take in some scenery my marathon running days are sadly over. Look forward to meeting anybody who would like to join me. and happy for me to join them.

Message: Hi, im sarah 47 years old single and looking for a male walking companion or maybe a group to join, i came across this site whilst searching for stuff on the Yorkshire Three Peaks which i am walking soon with a group of friends. Walking the three peaks is not a sign of my fitness as i think it is going to be quite a challenge and im getting a bit worried, but looking forward. I love been outdoors, as well as walking i love to cycle and have done the coast to coast a couple of times so ideally looking for someone who enjoys both. I have a dog which i like to take along if its a sheep free walk. An ideal walk for me is in a circle with a pub at the end. Like the idea of doing longer walks with stays overnight as the longer trips i have done on the bike were great. Short walks long walks all good just need to be outside. I have a day free mid week as well as weekends subject to arrangements for 13 year old child who is only interested in walking round shops. I am hopeless at reading a map which limits what i can do on my own so if you cant find your own way im not for you ! would love to meet someone with a good sense of humour for fun days out.
