new Male Walker, 47, based near Liverpool

Message: Hello, My name's Ray and I live in Widnes Cheshire - I mainly walk in The Lake District National Park and have done for many years - having many routes memorised but still taking map and compass just in case - lol - I also enjoy cycling and have a mountain and trail bike - often take both to The Lakes and Scotland but the drive (especially on my own) puts me off Scotland these days - although with someone to share the driving it's more of an option . I know The Trossachs fairly well too - I've tried local walking groups/ramblers etc and found I prefer smaller groups - Anyway - enough of me - would be delighted if you found any of this appealing and got in touch, Regards, Ray

Message: Hello all, I am just looking to make some new walking, cycling, camping/ hostelling friends and travel companions. . . I am a family man, but lack friends to go out and about with, as I live very rural, it is difficult to get out and meet people easily in my locality, so I want to find some like minded friends further afield. . I have lived in the North West for more than 7 years, but walked very little of it, so can anyone suggest some places to start walking. . . I really fancy starting off with camping along the Flyde coast somewhere, somehow, I just lack reliable adventurous friends to go off with and explore with or have some banter with around the BBQ/ camp fire. I walk mainly coastal and river based walks, I can walk some lower uplands, and eventually I hope to walk the high uplands in the UK, as hopefully my fitness improves. . . work in progress! I like coastal/ beach walks, visiting nice country inns for a meal, taking myself and my camera for a walk. . . I am an all weather walker, I am just lacking some company on my treks. . . . Hope to meet some new friends, just think it could be you !!

Message: Hi, I'm Kevan and I live in Suffolk. I am now able walk long weekends and school holidays. Message: More of a wanderer than a trekker probably. Can walk about 10 to 12 miles at the moment but would really like to improve fitness and health and lose some of my curves. Based in Central Scotland and have my own transport and satnav! Generally work a five day week so have weekends free. I have two young dogs who would love long walks. I love photography, live music, play guitar, have my own tent and know Scotland pretty well. Good conversation, flasks of tea, shortbread and laughter a must!

new Male Walker, 58, based near Southampton

Message: WANTED - PARTNER FOR PYRENEAN WALK FROM ATLANTIC TO MEDITERRANEAN. I'm Steve, an experienced walker looking for a m/f partner to share the above challenging hike with me in 2014, largely following the 500 mile route of the HRP (Haute Randonnee Pyreneenne). Expected duration is around 6 weeks, long enough to really enjoy the experience rather than treat it as a route march. Young or old, age is immaterial, and whilst physical fitness is desirable you don't need to be an athlete. Rather more important is mental toughness, determination and a personality compatible with mine. I live near Southampton but will consider potential partners anywhere in the country provided we can get in some practice walks together. If this is the kind of life-changing experience you have been looking for, pop me a line.

I live in Edinburgh and keen to walk more munros, do longer trips wild camping as well as coastal walks. Anything that takes me outdoors! I am reasonably fit and run as well as ride a bike regularly. Message: With increasing numbers of my married friends finding it difficult to walk at the sort of short notice the Yorkshire weather sometimes dictates, I'm on the lookout for new walking companions that share my passion for hill walking. I try to get out into the NY Moors or Dales as frequently as possible. Weekends to Snowdonia and Cumbria are always treasured. I usually manage to walk abroad once a year (the Julian Alps in Slovenia are my absolute favourite). Would love to hook up with like minded people to share a walk or two so please get in touch. Thanks Patrick.

new Female Walker, 34, based near Romford

Message: When I first moved to the UK from Canada, one of the things that I looked forward to most was walking in places where I didn't have to worry about bears or overly-aggressive deer! Five years on, I've managed to climb Snowdon, bag a couple of Munros (including Ben Nevis), and been on several mid-length walks from places as varied as Unst in Shetland to the North Downs Way, but that's about it. I would describe myself as a woman who is young at heart with a good sense of humour. I enjoy comedy, theatre, films, reading and history. I'm reasonably fit, a dog-lover (in spite of not having any of my own at the moment), and happy to travel to meet up for walks - or pitch in for petrol - as needed. I'm good at reading maps, but my compass using skills definitely need some work. As I work full-time, any walking is limited to weekends and school holidays.

Message: Hi - am 40, happily married and living in the Bolton area. . . so not looking for romance! Am relatively fit and active and looking to build walking fitness so I can do some long distance walking next year. Thinking nice intermediate fells in Lakes rather than full on peaks in the mist, ice and rain. Have some basic map reading skills but anyone who knows more than me would be welcome! Male Walker, 54, based near Bishop Auckland

Message: Hi. . great website! 2 years ago I moved up to County Durham because of work and previous love of the scenery. I've joined a fantastic walking group up here and despite breaking my leg whilst out with them and needing a helicopter rescue, I'm back walking again and up to speed. I did Pennine Way 25+ years ago and love revisiting bits of it, as well as the Dales Way, WHW and have enjoyed time in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales and Northumberland. I'd like to walk C2C sometime too and Isaac's tea trail even sooner but shorter circular walks are just as appealing. I don't have a dog to growl at you but would prefer some two-legged company to share the time with. Am free many weekends and school holidays (when not being musical) and am looking forward to hearing from you. Happy 2013!! Andy

Male Walker, 54, based near Cumbria

Message: I am a 54 year old single male living in the Lake District. I enjoy being outdoors walking, running and cycling but I enjoy being indoors maybe listening to music . I am fit and competent and love a challenging walk or an easy walk and I like to take in the views whichever – I don't want to be too serious about it! I am open to any level of walk as it's sometimes good to just get out and it's always good to find a good pub or café at the end. It's the simple things in life that appeal to me most. I like to see the beauty in natural surroundings, love woods especially in autumn, watching and listening to birds, sun rise and sun set, starry skies, wood smoke, the scent of gorse flower in the summer. I am looking to meet a woman who enjoys being outdoors amongst other things. Your location isn't too important - I am prepared to travel to meet for a walk as I enjoy walking in many areas. I'm not into exchanging emails for too long but prefer to talk, then maybe meet, see what happens and just take it from there. My boring details are I'm single with no children or any other ties. I'm 5'8” and slim build. Hope to hear from you!

Message: Hi My name's Angie and I'm looking for a male to accompany me on my walks. I'm fairly fit, hoping to do some good long distance walks and looking for someone to introduce me to the excitement of hillwalking and getting off the beaten track - I don't really have navigation skills yet but am keen to learn. I love Snowdonia and the majesty of the mountains but quite happy to explore anywhere and everywhere off the beaten track. I enjoy a hard day's walking but am equally happy to stop and enjoy the view while taking a well earned breather. I love company and am keen to share my enjoyment of walking and the outdoors with a likeminded male so we can both gain more from our shared experiences. A nice meal and a bevvy at the end - who can ask for more!!

Message: Hi I've joined this site in a hope to find some new friends to have fun with and share some nice days out walking. I'm originally from Scotland but moved to South Cheshire a few years ago so fairly new to the place & looking to explore. I have done a bit of hill walking in the past but like everything else you get lazy so I'm looking to use this as an excuse to get fit again because I'd really like to do the 3 peaks challenge. I have three dogs all Cavalier King Charles Spaniels which i would like to take walking with me (not on the harder routes though) so if you have a dog or don't mind fury animals then I would love to hear from you whether it be a lazy stroll or something a bit more energetic!.
