new Male Walker, 55, based near Berkeley

Message: Hi, I hope you are well? Update 12.11.17 I am still a single 55 year old man and am looking for a walking partner to get me back into my walking boots, I ruptured my Achilles Tendon a couple of years ago and have not really done any walks since apart from a couple of 6 mile ones. I can often be seen around the countryside with my camera and tripod, trying to take a photo of some wildlife, usually feathered birds :-)I hope to find someone who is willing to take things steady at first to see how far I can get myself back up to. I work as a lorry driver and so am not as fit as I was before the injury when my job at the time was a more active one. Friends are good and if I found a partner out of this then I would feel very lucky.

new Male Walker, 61, based near Belvedere

Message: Hello, I'm Tim, 61, fit, active, lots of energy and stamina, looking for a female walking companion. Any age or ethnic origin is welcome, but I am an atheist, and there's not much point in us being too philosophically dissimilar. I live on the London/Kent border but have walked extensively in all areas of England and Wales and bits of Scotland (only the distance has kept me from doing more). Have walked most hills in the Lake District and Snowdonia and nearly all the national trails and many others. I love the UK coast and am always ready to walk any part of it, as well as local paths such as the North Downs Way and South Downs Way. In fact, I'll walk anywhere and at any time - it's what I love to do. Hopefully I'm well-rounded and I also love music, books, maps, nature, history, buildings, etc. Friends have said that I'm funny, kind, intelligent, sensitive, a good conversationalist - still, what do they know? Any companion would hopefully soon be a friend but I'm very open for this to develop into a girlfriend/soulmate/life partner situation. And if it doesn't there'd still be a good walking friendship. If any of this appeals I'd love to hear from you.

Message: Hello my name is Edward, I am 46, and single. I am looking for a female walking companion. I have not walked for a few years but want to get back in to it. I did think of joining The Ramblers but, I am quite shy, and do not like large groups of people. I am going on holiday to East Devon on 30th September for a week, and would love to go for a walk's with some company. Currently I do not work but, am looking for work, and doing some volunteering in the meantime. Male Walker, 66, based near Nottingham

Message: I live within an hour of the Peak District. I know it really well and love it, but equally love Wales, The Lakes and other parts too. I first got the walking bug whilst doing a charity walk in Snowdonia in 1998 (Crib Goch at 4 a.m.). I'm happy walking on hilltops and along valleys, canals, rivers and dales as well as mountain tops. I walk to chill and enjoy what's there, not to just race to the end, what would make my day complete though is some cheerful, like minded female company to share the views, some good conversation (serious or silly), laughter and after walk refreshments. I'm chilled, have a quick wit, great sense of humour and am good fun to walk with. I'm dependable too and, being an ex DofE assessor, I'm a fairly competent map reader. If you enjoy your walking and are interested in joining me I'd love to hear from you. I can promise you an enjoyable day out. Chris

Male Walker, 57, based near Amersham

Message: I'm based in S Bucks but love the mountains and hills: Peaks, Dartmoor, Beacons, Shropshire hills, mid-Wales, N and S Downs. I can get to them all in no more than three hours, have a great day's walking, and home again - as long as I'm out of the car for more than I'm in it, that's OK. If you'd like to meet for a walk in these or any other (not too flat) regions, and are looking for friendship and company, I'd love to hear from you. I've recently (2017) taken to my tent again after many years, so a bike ride with tent turns into a splendid adventure. The Lakes, Snowdonia, and Scotland are the real draws though, especially in winter conditions. I've been up to the far NW and the W and Central Highlands for the last few years and love them. And the Alps of course, and Arctic Norway! I like mountains and hills. I walk among them and try to ski (downhill and touring) them, and recently mountain bike through them to save my legs when getting to the more remote ones. Try imagining the peaks and valleys under a kilometre of ice shaping the Lakes or Highlands into the dramatic wild places they can be today! Until recently, I worked right in the middle of London which was enjoyable and different; I live at the end of a Tube line with a usually-muddy field-and-woods walk to my local station. But I've made the move (end 2015) to working from home, in my own time, so I'm freed from the weekends-only bids for the outdoors. Oh, and my name is Robert.

Male Walker, 70, based near Ledbury

Message: Hi, I'm Colin, and there is so much of the three counties (Hereford / Worcester / Glos) countryside waiting to be found and savoured, that I just know that without a companion to set some days with, they'll remain unexplored. So I'm relying on some like minded soul to help me to rescue my best intentions and enjoy a gentle countryside walk or even a ramble over the Beacons. And me? Well, I continue to work in the forest world and won't see 70 again, but this is no deterrent as I keep fit by cycling, playing tennis & badminton plus a enjoyment of orienteering. My ever (mostly) patient wife of some 37 years sadly does not share my enthusiasm for stretching the joints, but is quite relaxed about finding a companion - a situation which has worked well in the past. Keeping my fingers x'ed. . . . . .

Message: Hello 58 year old single man seeks female companion for walks, exploring and good pub lunches/dinners. Medium fitness level 5 - 8 miles is enough with plenty of time to stand and stare. I have reasonable map skills and good supply of O/S maps. I live in Pembrokeshire and my job is shift based that offers a good deal of time off at varying times of the week, I am mobile and will travel to other areas and am able to offer accommodation in my 4 bed house. Message: Hi my name is Richard, I am a keen North Kent/London runner and walker of 57 years. I like nothing more than to explore the great outdoors on foot. Its funny I started walking some years back and when realising I was not as fit as I thought I started to run to improve my hill stamina and caught the bug. I have walked all over the UK either in groups or solo including the West Highland Way, half of the Southwest Coastal Path and half of Offa's Dyke, I'd love to finish these walks one day. The South Downs Way was a great walk achieved in chunks. I have been very interested for a long time and admired the achievements of others who have climbed Mount Everest and finally achieved a lifetime ambition with friends and trekked to Everest Base Camp a few years back, why…'because its there'. I am just back from a trek to Machu Picchu, an incredible life experience. So, where to now, looking for a new challenge with new company.

Female Walker, 63, based near Cirencester

Message: Hi I'm Karen. I'm single and now that I am retired I have a lot more time to go walking just for an afternoon or a day (week days and weekends) or for weeks. I'd like to meet up with other walkers to continue to do the SW Coast Path (I have done form Poole to nearly Plymouth and am happy to do other bits in any order), Offa's Dyke, the Coast to Coast or West Highland Way from 2017 onwards. I've walked the Thames Path from my home as I live on the Wiltshire / Gloucestershire borders, as well as most of my local walks and many more all over the UK - on my own and many in groups; always much more fun and interesting. I have a car and am happy to travel and go for walks all over the UK and abroad; I will tackle hills; have done Snowdon and other fairly high spots like the Jurassic Coast but my knees now really prefer fewer or shorter or less steep climbs. I love watching for wildlife along the way and would love to share the scenery and enjoyment with male or female friends. Its great to have a bit of a laugh and a chat along the way, especially if interspersed with stop offs for a cuppa or at a pub.

Message: Hello. I love walking and would enjoy meeting new people (male or female) to walk with. I have 3 dogs (a cocker spaniel, a terrier cross and recently acquired a rescue dog from Bulgaria who is a black and cream fluffy mixed breed about collie size but looks like a miniature husky) the 2 older dogs are very well behaved and the young pup (9 months) is getting there. I love my dogs, but would enjoy the company of human beings too! I can walk quite long distances, but need to do a bit of 'view appreciation' during longer uphill climbs. I live on the outskirts of Gloucester, but am happy to travel within reason. I have a tent and like to go camping in the better weather.

Message: Your Message Hi I am looking for a single male walking companion of similar age. I walk every week and at every opportunity( and at least a mile a day with my lurcher/ lab puppy , his company is optional by the way)! I would like to walk any where and everywhere and would like to get better at map reading and learn more about walking/ walks. Would like to do some serious walks - Pennine way etc... I have no sense of direction and find it hard to find my way out of a paper bag mostly, so someone who is willing to be responsible for me!! would be nice as would someone with a wicked sense of humour who's company I could enjoy, so If you are young at heart, have a nice smile and would like to share some good walks (maybe easy on the eye - that always helps!!) please get in touch! Message: Hi, I'm Adrian, single, retired, fit, and keen to meet an active fit female walking companion to explore our beautiful islands, and further afield. I have a camper van to tour and also to use as a mobile base for circular and linear walks, perhaps on classic long distance national trails. I enjoy all types of walks both short and full day walks and long distance. On the latter I prefer to complete the walk in one go rather than spread over weeks, months or year. I have completed a number of classic long distance paths including The Pennine Way and Wainwrights Coast to Coast, but I'm not against doing these again if my companion wished to do them. Not so good on heights these days so I avoid walking on high level narrow ledges. I am a vegetarian who eats fish, non competitive nature, passionate about our natural world, fun loving, often quirky. Other interests include camping, cycling, casual nature walks, am NT and RSPB member, conservation volunteering, reading, eclectic taste in music, art cinema, theatre, the arts, wildlife gardening and DIY. Am politically a bit of a lefty. If any of this appeals, please get in touch.

Message: Who doesn't love getting out in to the hills?! The usual places for me tend to be the Peaks, Lakes, Snowdonia or Scotland (especially the Cairngorms) but Scotland is such a loooooong drive away. I love cycling day to day, mostly road riding but also enjoy some gentle blue route mountain biking as well. I sometimes feel adventurous and try the red but am a bit technically inept :/ I started a new chapter in my life in Sep 2015 by heading back to Uni. Its been great fun and i am particularly excited about the chance I'll get to spend my summer weeks exploring the hills again. No preference to male or female companionship although i work weekends so am looking for regular company Mon - Fri (or occassionally a week or two away further afield when my timetable allows) and also people who don't mind dogs as mine goes everywhere with me. I also prefer walking with 1 or 2 people at a time. Tried the group walking and its just not for me. Hope to hear from all you fellow adventurers soon!

Female Walker, 53, based near Stourport-on-severn

Message: I've just come home from work, walking all day in the Worcestershire countryside in the sun with a pack of dogs, including my own. Having served my time climbing hills and mountains with groups of children in the Outdoor Education sector, I now spend my working hours walking with dogs and feel it would be good and healthy to spend my leisure time walking with adult company. About me - my name is Alison (50 next year and planning various walking trips to celebrate) and if you walk with me you walk with my Collie, Gwenon. For me its about being out there in the countryside, listening to the birds, hugging the trees, reconnecting with the natural world, catching the views as much as bagging peaks - although this is always an added bonus. I am as happy in the lowlands, in the woods, by the sea as I am navigating my way across highlands and moorland. I am a sound navigator and enjoy exploring as well as working out the maths! I enjoy exploring off the beaten track and have also been known to while away my time playing in the stream. If any of this sounds appealing and you are willing to join me being out there in the wild or not so wild, get in touch.

Male Walker, 32, based near Birmingham

Message: Hi all fellow walkers! I'm a 32 year old single male looking for male or female walkers and hiking buddies to explore the local region, notably the Peak District, Parts of Wales such as the Brecon Beacons or Snowdonia and the Lakes and Beyond in the Scottish Highlands. I'm reasonably fit and active, as I run or cycle often, and have done a touch of scrambling in Wales. I'm relatively new to it all, so by no means super experienced, but I'd love to share and learn from other walkers and individuals and go and explore what the great outdoors has to offer! I can navigate ( in basic terms!) and I own a trusty walking GPS along with all mapping paraphernalia. If you'd like to meet a fun, young, fit and open minded give-it-a-go walker who will attempt anything at least once (despite my fear of heights!) then I look forward to hearing from you!
