new Male Walker, 61, based near Belvedere

Message: Hello, I'm Tim, 61, fit, active, lots of energy and stamina, looking for a female walking companion. Any age or ethnic origin is welcome, but I am an atheist, and there's not much point in us being too philosophically dissimilar. I live on the London/Kent border but have walked extensively in all areas of England and Wales and bits of Scotland (only the distance has kept me from doing more). Have walked most hills in the Lake District and Snowdonia and nearly all the national trails and many others. I love the UK coast and am always ready to walk any part of it, as well as local paths such as the North Downs Way and South Downs Way. In fact, I'll walk anywhere and at any time - it's what I love to do. Hopefully I'm well-rounded and I also love music, books, maps, nature, history, buildings, etc. Friends have said that I'm funny, kind, intelligent, sensitive, a good conversationalist - still, what do they know? Any companion would hopefully soon be a friend but I'm very open for this to develop into a girlfriend/soulmate/life partner situation. And if it doesn't there'd still be a good walking friendship. If any of this appeals I'd love to hear from you.

Currently I do not work but, am looking for work, and doing some volunteering in the meantime. Female Walker, 63, based near Southport

Message: I would love to hear from local walkers/hikers. Hi, I'm a happy, independent woman. I'm slim and fit and intend to stay that way!. I love driving particularly on the continent and I am happy to travel in the UK in search of a good walk. I'm a keen walker with many other interests including travel (preferably off the beaten track). I recently visited Siberia and China and got the 'bug' for more far-flung places. I have walked in Southern France and Nothern Spain. La Gomera, a couple of years ago, was a great location to walk/hike in. As was the beautiful island of Crete last year. However, there are still plenty of stunning places in our own country I have yet to explore. I particularly love walking in Snowdonia. I did Snowdon via Crib Goch a while ago and very much enjoyed that experience. Also the magestic,Tryfan is a favourite. But in my book, any walk, long or short hard or not so, in congenial company, is a walk well worth doing. I would love to hear from male fellow walkers who enjoy the great outdoors, a laugh along the way and of course, well earned pint after! UPDATE... 2014. Hiking in spring time in Cabo De Gata Southern Spain. August 2014. Avoiding wild bears while in the Sayan mountains in Southern Siberia.....Northern Spain, Italy....just a few of the highlights of 2014. Intending to cap that in 2017 ( ambitious, maybe! ) Christine.

Female Walker, 49, based near Ashbourne

Message: Your Message Hi I am looking for a single male walking companion of similar age. I walk every week and at every opportunity( and at least a mile a day with my lurcher/ lab puppy , his company is optional by the way)! I would like to walk any where and everywhere and would like to get better at map reading and learn more about walking/ walks. Would like to do some serious walks - Pennine way etc... I have no sense of direction and find it hard to find my way out of a paper bag mostly, so someone who is willing to be responsible for me!! would be nice as would someone with a wicked sense of humour who's company I could enjoy, so If you are young at heart, have a nice smile and would like to share some good walks (maybe easy on the eye - that always helps!!) please get in touch! I like to stop every now and then and look around at the natural beauty and drink it all in, not too keen on route marches. A nice pub is always good . I would like to have some walking holidays , weekends, travel. So if you would like to help a novice and impart your knowledge and stories ,that would be nice.

Female Walker, 53, based near Stourport-on-severn

Message: I've just come home from work, walking all day in the Worcestershire countryside in the sun with a pack of dogs, including my own. Having served my time climbing hills and mountains with groups of children in the Outdoor Education sector, I now spend my working hours walking with dogs and feel it would be good and healthy to spend my leisure time walking with adult company. About me - my name is Alison (50 next year and planning various walking trips to celebrate) and if you walk with me you walk with my Collie, Gwenon. For me its about being out there in the countryside, listening to the birds, hugging the trees, reconnecting with the natural world, catching the views as much as bagging peaks - although this is always an added bonus. I am as happy in the lowlands, in the woods, by the sea as I am navigating my way across highlands and moorland. I am a sound navigator and enjoy exploring as well as working out the maths! I enjoy exploring off the beaten track and have also been known to while away my time playing in the stream. If any of this sounds appealing and you are willing to join me being out there in the wild or not so wild, get in touch.

Female Walker, 57, based near Rhyl

Message: Hi there, I am a fit, active, outdoors lady in my 50's. I used to be a member of an organised walking group, we explored some beautiful views, hills and countryside - usually on Sunday's. We completed our expeditions with a well deserved beer and most times afternoon lunch/dinner. In wintry, wet weather, the open coal/log fire was so inviting and so fitting with the day. Similarly in sunny, hot weather, the outdoors in the sunshine with a cool glass of beer and lunch was the 'icing on the cake. ' However I have recently moved from England to Rhyl in North Wales, also I haven't walked for some time now, so I would need to build back up 2 -3 miles at first. I would like to meet similar people who would like to join me, maybe a small group of us or anyone who is interested and perhaps I could take some lovely photographs of this beautiful scenery, here in Denbighshire. I will need to fit my expeditions around my work commitments but eh, I have got my walking boots and waterproofs ready! I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Beverley.

Female Walker, 54, based near Pontypool

Message: Active 54 year old looking for equally active male walking buddy for walking at weekends in the main as work prevents weekday walking. Looking for friendship and companionship initially, and take it from there. Happy to tackle most walking terrain, and not just a fair weather walker. Would prefer a non smoking companion, and happy to partake in a beverage at a Pub either en route or at the end of a walk. Very keen to do much more walking than I do currently, but need a buddy and navigator on board. Much prefer company and pleasant banter, and the added security proved. Currently exercise at home daily but would much prefer to be in the outdoors and fresh air.

Male Walker, 50, based near Oswestry

Message: *** I have week off work from 26th July 14 so if you fancy a day's, or an overnight, walking please let me know *** Hi my name is Steve and I live in North Shropshire and work out of Cheshire. I am fit (despite the desk job!) and healthy and like hill walking and exploring - day trips, camping, accommodation - but of late I have not had the time or walking partners to do much hiking. Walked up Mt Kili a few years back but since then work has taken over (and less fit!) - ending in recent plans to walk the three peaks having to be cancelled. But a (belated) new year resolution is to get out onto those hills! So I am looking for like minded walker(s) to share walks/hikes with. I work full time so largely limited to weekends or long weekends; also possibly some evenings during the summer. Always happy to finish the walk with a visit to the pub!

Male Walker, 39, based near Chulmleigh

Message: Hi, I'm James from North Devon. Walking has really helped me to recover my strength and stamina after a long period of illness. Dartmoor is right on my doorstep and I have been making a determined effort this year to get to know it better. Wild camping on the moor has a deeply therapeutic effect on me - underlining the importance of keeping things simple and in balance. I usually walk alone, my friends are usually busy, and I think some company would be nice. Dartmoor is a wonderful playground that I would never tire of but I am happy to try anywhere in the UK that I can reach by train. I have a spare tent that I can lend out if you are not sure whether camping is your thing but would like to give it a go without spending lots of money. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Female Walker, 32, based near Birmingham

Message: Hi, I'm a 32 year old asian female, just from the outskirts of Birmingham. I am looking for walking buddies to experience more of the outdoors with, long walks, hill walks, mountains, day ways, weekend walks, challenges etc. I am just getting my fitness back after being ill for a period but in the past I have undertaken the likes of Snowdon and Cadir idris in wales, many walks in wales and the peak district, shropshire hills etc. I would like to get back into my passion and also make new friends as existing friends have gone abroad to live and work. I am able to drive to locations, pick ups etc if you dont own your own car to beable to go on long walks, or if you have to leave the car to the partner for the day! I am keen to train up to do the National Three Peaks challenge so anyway wishing to help me or looking to embark on this, do get in touch! Or if you are already training, again, would love to hear from you. Thanks for reading my message :) Rea

Female Walker, 45, based near Southam, Warwickshire

Message: Hi, I'm usually free to walk most weekends. I'm based in Warwickshire but love walking in the Lake District, Snowdonia, mid Wales, Brecons, Peak District and anywhere else really. As long as there's a good walk involved I'm usually interested. I'm a professional person, easy company and looking for nothing other than a good walk and easy company. I drive and am happy to provide transport, if en route. I have passed my bronze NNAS map reading course, but I'm not fully confident to lead a complicated route! I am fairly fit and am just about to run my first half marathon. Email me with questions etc, I really won't bite. Kind regards Michelle
