new Male Walker, 61, based near Belvedere

Message: Hello, I'm Tim, 61, fit, active, lots of energy and stamina, looking for a female walking companion. Any age or ethnic origin is welcome, but I am an atheist, and there's not much point in us being too philosophically dissimilar. I live on the London/Kent border but have walked extensively in all areas of England and Wales and bits of Scotland (only the distance has kept me from doing more). Have walked most hills in the Lake District and Snowdonia and nearly all the national trails and many others. I love the UK coast and am always ready to walk any part of it, as well as local paths such as the North Downs Way and South Downs Way. In fact, I'll walk anywhere and at any time - it's what I love to do. Hopefully I'm well-rounded and I also love music, books, maps, nature, history, buildings, etc. Friends have said that I'm funny, kind, intelligent, sensitive, a good conversationalist - still, what do they know? Any companion would hopefully soon be a friend but I'm very open for this to develop into a girlfriend/soulmate/life partner situation. And if it doesn't there'd still be a good walking friendship. If any of this appeals I'd love to hear from you.

Message: Hello 58 year old single man seeks female companion for walks, exploring and good pub lunches/dinners. Medium fitness level 5 - 8 miles is enough with plenty of time to stand and stare. I have reasonable map skills and good supply of O/S maps. I live in Pembrokeshire and my job is shift based that offers a good deal of time off at varying times of the week, I am mobile and will travel to other areas and am able to offer accommodation in my 4 bed house. Would be happy to answer any questions about myself before meeting. Huw

Male Walker, 71, based near Matlock

Message: Hi, I'm Adrian, single, retired, fit, and keen to meet an active fit female walking companion to explore our beautiful islands, and further afield. I have a camper van to tour and also to use as a mobile base for circular and linear walks, perhaps on classic long distance national trails. I enjoy all types of walks both short and full day walks and long distance. On the latter I prefer to complete the walk in one go rather than spread over weeks, months or year. I have completed a number of classic long distance paths including The Pennine Way and Wainwrights Coast to Coast, but I'm not against doing these again if my companion wished to do them. Not so good on heights these days so I avoid walking on high level narrow ledges. I am a vegetarian who eats fish, non competitive nature, passionate about our natural world, fun loving, often quirky. Other interests include camping, cycling, casual nature walks, am NT and RSPB member, conservation volunteering, reading, eclectic taste in music, art cinema, theatre, the arts, wildlife gardening and DIY. Am politically a bit of a lefty. If any of this appeals, please get in touch.

Message: Hi, I love walking mostly in North Wales. The Clwydian range is my local area, I walk in Snowdonia and around the North Wales coast fairly often. Then other areas of the UK and beyond on occasions too. I've fallen in love with Skye and Harris/Lewis so given any excuse will also drive to Scotland, although secretly want a helicopter... Looking to explore Torridon and other areas of northern Scotland more in the future too. I'd love to meet new people who love walking. Dylan

Message: There is nothing better than for me to be out walking in the hills and mountains of Wales (home now) or Scotland (home for 6 years until 2012) with my 2 spaniels. I would prefer to be out and about, joking and laughing with close friends rather than watching mind numbing TV on my own. I'm a Yorkshire lad, so any testing peak, anywhere in the UK or Europe, I would give it my best shot. There has to be some common sense prevailing when the location is chosen, so Wales, the Peak District, Cumbria, the South West would be easier to say yes to. Wild Camping, BandB, inns with good food and ale, I'm up for all of it, provided my dogs get to come too.

Male Walker, 70, based near London

Message: I live in North London. I enjoy day walks in the Home Counties with a walking club I've belonged to for some years. I am interested in going further afield with another walker (m or f) for more than day hikes, perhaps revisiting some of the English national trails I walked in past decades. I don't rule out Wales or Scotland where I also know some areas. I like classical music, pub conversation, reading, crossword solving, planning and leading walks. For much of my life I have been involved in local politics but ready to give these a miss in my retirement. I am divorced with one grown-up daughter who lives with me.

Message: Whether a gentle stroll or a challenging trekking holiday, I'm always keen to pull on my walking boots and head off to places best seen on foot. I discovered the joys of walking whilst training for the London Moonwalk in 2007, and since then I've covered many miles in the UK, including Hadrian's Wall and climbing Snowdon, Ben Nevis and Scafell (although not all in one day) I've also spent a week walking in the beautiful french Pyrenees and completed two trekking holidays - in Kerala and to Everest Base Camp, both incredible experiences, and I'd love to do more e. g. Machu Picchu. My other passion is skiing, and I've recently returned to the UK having taken a short career break to work in the french Alps last winter (the oldest chalet maid in town!) Now back behind a desk full time - suffering 'cabin fever' - I'm keen to get out walking as much as possible at weekends, please get in touch if you'd like to join me.

Male Walker, 49, based near Churchstoke

Message: Hi, my name is Steve and I'm a 49 yr old single guy. I'm based mostly on the mid Welsh borders and so am lucky enough to have relatively easy access to the mountains of Wales and mid/northern England. I live a pretty unconventional life in which adventure travel plays a significant part. I've recently returned from a 4000 mile cycle trip of Eastern Europe, it was a blast! I love the notion of adventure, macro or micro, an afternoon walk, a weekend camping/bivvying or full on expeditions lasting weeks or months. I'm in the process of planning a south American cycling adventure for next year if anyone is interested. I love to get into the mountains and wild places of Britain as much as I can and do this in my 'live - in truck' which takes me all over. I also like to explore the myths and legends accociated with wild places. I've walked a lot in Britain and also trekked in the Alps, the Pyrenees and Napal. I spent a month last year on my mountain bike in Iceland which was fab, apart from falling off! So if anyone is interested in sharing adventure experiences, big or small, drop me a line and we can share ideas. Cheers.

Female Walker, 57, based near Rhyl

Message: Hi there, I am a fit, active, outdoors lady in my 50's. I used to be a member of an organised walking group, we explored some beautiful views, hills and countryside - usually on Sunday's. We completed our expeditions with a well deserved beer and most times afternoon lunch/dinner. In wintry, wet weather, the open coal/log fire was so inviting and so fitting with the day. Similarly in sunny, hot weather, the outdoors in the sunshine with a cool glass of beer and lunch was the 'icing on the cake. ' However I have recently moved from England to Rhyl in North Wales, also I haven't walked for some time now, so I would need to build back up 2 -3 miles at first. I would like to meet similar people who would like to join me, maybe a small group of us or anyone who is interested and perhaps I could take some lovely photographs of this beautiful scenery, here in Denbighshire. I will need to fit my expeditions around my work commitments but eh, I have got my walking boots and waterproofs ready! I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Beverley.

Message: Hi. I'm an easy-going romantic with a love of the countryside - high rugged areas, green and pleasant lands, peaceful valleys and windswept ridges. Not averse to a few home comforts, nice BandBs, concerts, cooking, camping if needs must. Working, but lots of spare weekdays and weekends, plenty of ideas of what I want to do more of - visits to the Highlands, Wales, and anywhere else that takes my fancy. It would be nice to share these good times with a like-minded, independent female. You will find me (I hope) considerate, good-humoured and honest. Live near Nottingham but travelling not a problem.

Female Walker, 50, based near Swansea

Message: Hello I've moved back to Swansea having lived abroad for many years, and would love to meet new walking friends to explore the Gower coast and surrounding areas. I would also love to go to the Isles of Scilly one day. Walks of around five miles would be my ideal. I am single, quite vivacious and easy to talk to, although I am equally comfortable walking in silence. I'd be happy with a meal and a drink either during or after a walk, and would love to hear from anyone who would like to join me. I work from home so am flexible about dates and times. Look forward to hearing from you.

Female Walker, 44, based near Blaina

Message: Hi, I'm 44 and live Blaina close to the Brecon Beacons. I am looking for walking friends for day walks, weekend away walking, national trails etc. I love walking the mountains but am equally as happy walking coastal areas. I work shifts so sometimes I walk during the week. My friends don't share my enthusiasm for walking and while I don't mind walking alone, a chat and a laugh along the way would be better. Im happy to walk in all weather and am happy to find a cosy pub, B andB or campsite at the end of a walk. If you are interested please get in touch :) .
