new Male Walker, 50, based near Berkeley

Message: I am a single man from Berkeley in Gloucestershire who loves walking, I mostly walk in the Cotswold's, Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and over to the Brecon Beacons. I am still interested in walking these areas but would also like to expand and go to Dartmoor, Exmoor and the Peak District for weekend jaunts. I think the Lake District and Snowdonia would be great to re-visit again for longer weekend or week breaks. I have been up Snowdon 3 times and never had a view but I have enjoyed the Welsh Oggie they sell in the Cafe. I plan to do Cadir Idris sometime in 2013. I have walked up the highest mountains in England, Scotland, Wales and both North and South of Ireland in recent years, quite fancy a trip to Skye sometime too and perhaps a good long week in Scotland. Oh, I also own a 3 person Canadain canoe and a Single Sit on Kayak but can't swim very well!! Paddy.

new Male Walker, 58, based near Southampton

Message: WANTED - PARTNER FOR PYRENEAN WALK FROM ATLANTIC TO MEDITERRANEAN. I'm Steve, an experienced walker looking for a m/f partner to share the above challenging hike with me in 2014, largely following the 500 mile route of the HRP (Haute Randonnee Pyreneenne). Expected duration is around 6 weeks, long enough to really enjoy the experience rather than treat it as a route march. Young or old, age is immaterial, and whilst physical fitness is desirable you don't need to be an athlete. Rather more important is mental toughness, determination and a personality compatible with mine. I live near Southampton but will consider potential partners anywhere in the country provided we can get in some practice walks together. If this is the kind of life-changing experience you have been looking for, pop me a line.

Message: Hello. I love walking and would enjoy meeting new people (male or female) to walk with. I have 2 dogs (a cocker spaniel and a terrier cross) who are both very well behaved, but would enjoy the company of human beings too! I can walk quite long distances, but need to do a bit of 'view appreciation' during longer uphill climbs. I live on the outskirts of Gloucester, but am happy to travel.

Female Walker, 63, based near Bath

Message: I have been a keen walker for the last 10 years but (as we have got older) my walking companions have begun to fall by the wayside whereas I'm still raring to go! I have considered joining the Ramblers but I'd rather not walk in a large group. Also having exhausted most of the walks in the Bath area, Wiltshire and Dorset I would like to start walking further afield and have got my eye on some of the long distance trails ----- I prefer walking from place to place rather than circular walks but I will do both! Although I am slow uphill, I can cover 8 to 14 miles a day especially if there is a meal and a glass of wine to look forward to at the end. The other thing I enjoy is map reading and it gives me great satisfaction when I have negotiated a route successfully. So, I am looking for a walking companion who would like to do any of the above either during the week or at weekends.

Male Walker, 49, based near Blackpool

Message: Hi, I am a cheerful, happy go lucky, adventurous guy who has always had a facination for the outdoors-walking, camping, caving etc and a love of travel. I am planning to walk some long distance paths such as the Lancashire Coastal Way, Ribble Way or discuss any path you are interested in. I intend to video the walk and it would be fantastic to meet someone who would enjoy sharing the challenge. Probably do the walk in stages over a period of time. I am happy to begin with easy sections of about 5 miles enjoying the walk, increasing the distance as we get fitter. I am free most days and look forward to hearing from anyone who would like to join me in planning and doing some great walks. I am open to any other ideas and love country pubs.

Male Walker, 38, based near Newport

Message: Hi, been walking fairly regularly for last year and looking for a people to go walking with (wife has subtalar fusion on ankle preventing long/uneven walks) and are interested in sharing the great outdoors, fresh air, having a chat and a laugh with. I'm highly motivated and have a small group of people I go out with normally but as availability can sometimes be an issue it's always good to keep your horizons broadened and anyone is welcome on our tour as it's pretty socialist and democratic. I can travel to just about anywhere if it's planned in advance but mainly stick to walks in south wales or neighbouring english counties, and also scotland when I go back there which is fairly regular and am fairly good with navigation and have transport. If there are any questions - feel free to ask, I am open and honest, bordering on blunt at times. Enjoy.

Message: Hi, I really enjoy walking but am generally too enthusiastic for most of my friends. I would like to meet a like minded walker to move me out of my comfort zone and support me to improve my fitness through regular, active walks (preferably involving a hill or two!) Biggest problem is that I live in Hampshire and obviously need to drive further afield to encounter any real altitude! Dorset coast is fabulous and only an hour away as indeed are the South Downs. Am interested in exploring further afield but would like opportunity to meet like-minded souls. I have been a walker off and on most of my life but would really love to move up a gear or two. If you think we might hit it off, would be great to hear from you.

Male Walker, 36, based near Milford Haven

Message: Hi there, I've only recently signed up to this and though it looked like a great idea to find like-minded people that may wish to join me out and about someday. I'm 36, single and live / work in Pembrokeshire, West Wales. I've always been keen to explore the great outdoors, and I'm always up for new challenges, however until recently I probably haven't made as much of an effort as I should have done. The fact that most of my friends don't share my passion for the outdoors has restricted me to a certain degree but I've decided to put that right!! So, hopefully I'll find willing companions to enjoy an afternoon / weekend walk or challenge sometime, perhaps with the prospect of lunch afterwards, who knows??? Failing that, I'll head out alone - I've decided our great countryside has too uch to offer to simply let the chance go by If you're interested in joining me someday then I'd love to hear from you, and hope you'll get in touch before tooo long, thanks, Gregg

Female Walker, 49, based near Stourport-on-severn

Message: I've just come home from work, walking all day in the Worcestershire countryside in the sun with a pack of dogs, including my own. Having served my time climbing hills and mountains with groups of children in the Outdoor Education sector, I now spend my working hours walking with dogs and feel it would be good and healthy to spend my leisure time walking with adult company. About me - my name is Alison (50 next year and planning various walking trips to celebrate) and if you walk with me you walk with my Collie, Gwenon. For me its about being out there in the countryside, listening to the birds, hugging the trees, reconnecting with the natural world, catching the views as much as bagging peaks - although this is always an added bonus. I am as happy in the lowlands, in the woods, by the sea as I am navigating my way across highlands and moorland. I am a sound navigator and enjoy exploring as well as working out the maths! I enjoy exploring off the beaten track and have also been known to while away my time playing in the stream. If any of this sounds appealing and you are willing to join me being out there in the wild or not so wild, get in touch.

Message: Hello, I am a 55 years old female walker, new to Wales. I am doing a course in Cardiff and would like to get to know Wales by walking with people. I would be very interested in walking ancient routes with people.

Message: Hi there - Er . . . Not sure how the grading works so I have ticked All for now. It would be easier to list the places I don't want to walk! i. e the flat ones. Basically I am up for soft and hard walks. - In terms to the places I like to go to. For example would love to do the Cuillin Ridge and I love back packing to wild places. This does not neccessarily mean many miles. More into exploration, and standing and staring than mile counting and clock watching. Looking to do local walks - Black Mts, Beacons, Gwent, Shropshire and counties around. Also up for further afield for holidays. Perhaps there are go4awalk holidays and gatherings? Looking to find walkers of similar nature - laid backish but with an eye on the map. Connections always good. Here's to a good summer's walking !!

Message: Hi Im Barney. My main passion in life is walking and mountains. I like coastal walks and striding into the Peak District and further afield. I have done a fair bit in the Lakes and really like scrambling in Snowdonia. I do want to explore Scotland and the islands alot more as well. I would like to be outdoors more frequently but alot of my friends are lazy or married with children. I am single and find it hard to meet people with the same interest. Im off to Snowdonia at the end of March and cant wait. If you wanna walk or go up a mountain, let me know.

Female Walker, 56, based near Thame

Message: Hi, I'm a 'relaxed' walker with a great love of the countryside and nature, married to a non-walker! I'm not into route marches (perish the thought!) but like to stop and appreciate interesting views. I like photography and would enjoy sharing walks with chatty like-minded individuals with a view to building a small group of friends to walk with, find nice watering holes and coffee houses to round off the day. I also have long summer breaks to extend walks - maybe walking hols which are great fun - as I work term-time only.
