new Female Walker, 41, based near Stirling

Message: More of a wanderer than a trekker probably. Can walk about 10 to 12 miles at the moment but would really like to improve fitness and health and lose some of my curves. Based in Central Scotland and have my own transport and satnav! Generally work a five day week so have weekends free. I have two young dogs who would love long walks. I love photography, live music, play guitar, have my own tent and know Scotland pretty well. Good conversation, flasks of tea, shortbread and laughter a must!

Male Walker, 54, based near Bishop Auckland

Message: Hi. . great website! 2 years ago I moved up to County Durham because of work and previous love of the scenery. I've joined a fantastic walking group up here and despite breaking my leg whilst out with them and needing a helicopter rescue, I'm back walking again and up to speed. I did Pennine Way 25+ years ago and love revisiting bits of it, as well as the Dales Way, WHW and have enjoyed time in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales and Northumberland. I'd like to walk C2C sometime too and Isaac's tea trail even sooner but shorter circular walks are just as appealing. I don't have a dog to growl at you but would prefer some two-legged company to share the time with. Am free many weekends and school holidays (when not being musical) and am looking forward to hearing from you. Happy 2013!! Andy

Female Walker, 43, based near South Molton

Message: Hello. I am looking for people to go walking with at the weekends mainly on Exmoor and Dartmoor, I normally have my dog with me but conversation is very thin on the ground! I love to be in the hills and mountains winter, summer and in any weather. I would like to make some friends to go off to Scotland, Lakes, Wales etc - any area where there is good walking really. I am an easy going 43 year old female and I also enjoy kayaking - although I am very new to it but the idea of combining a walking and kayaking holiday around the islands off Scotland appeals. I live in North Devon and have done all my life but people around here just don't seem to want to get out walking! So if you're up for a wander and maybe a pint or a cuppa along the way get in touch.

Female Walker, 50, based near Lyndhurst

Message: Hi I am a fairly fit heterosexual lady who would love to find a walking companion. I run a pub in the New Forest which is when I walk daily with my dogs but I spend alot of my time in Exmooron my days off, where I also walk. I tend to walk much longer walks down there as obviously I have more time. I love taking time out to explore new areas especially Scotland which I have visited a lot but find it a bit lonely on my own all the time. I love staying in my camper in remote places and travelling around discovering new places in the British Isles. I would obviously like to meet the love of my life but to find a likewise person who is bright, loves the countryside, can cope with my dogs and enjoys walking with me would be great. I can walk up to 8 /10 miles easily and love picnics, or a visit to a pub. I am visiting The Outer Hebrides for a couple of weeks in Sept and it would be good now that I have found this site to prehaps find someone to accompany me. It could be alot of fun. Anyone that would like to meet for a walk in the New Forest or Exmoor (or anywhere really. . there are so many places to see) please get in touch. I run from my pub a dog walk on the 1st Sunday in the month. Feel free anyone with a mut that would like to come along.

Looking for like minded people to walk with in the Lakes and would like try some Scottish hills and the Isles too if anyone can guide me! Like to keep a reasonable pace but no route marching please! Enjoy a cuppa and a chance to savour the view. Have done some of the main fells in the Lakes and getting to know the area slowly. Have done a wee bit of map reading . . . could do with more practice. Building fitness level again after a back problem which is now resolved. . . at the moment can manage up to grade 7. So if you fancy a wee blether with an infectious smile for company, let me know!

Message: Hello I have become fairly passionate about walking since I took it up 4 years ago and am hoping to climb some Munros next year, having tackled Ben Macdui and Braeriach recently - not to 'bag' them but to find unknown areas of Scotland (despite being Scottish born and bred!). Also would like to do the 'haute' route and G10 in Europe now the family are independant. My pace is moderate as I like to look about, but steady, have recently come back from trekking in Peru which was a great experience. Planning on being free from work Fridays into Saturdays. Am a novice but enthusiastic map reader who has very basic sat nav skills. Although I am a member of a walking group , it is good to walk/chat to a companion. Look forward to hearing from any like minded folk.
