new Male Walker, 59, based near Keith

Message: Hi, my name is John and I live and work near the Cairngorm Mountains in northern Scotland. I moved here recently because I love the beauty of this region in particular and Scotland more generally. In the coming years I intend to explore much of this landscape. I'm an experienced walker in both Britain and abroad but I take a very relaxed approach to walking with no hurry or mileage or peak targets to meet. I just love being in beautiful landscapes and enjoying the wonders of nature. I usually carry binoculars with me to observe any wildlife that puts in an appearance and Scotland has plenty to offer in this regard. I'm friendly and easy going and enjoy socialising. A visit to a nice pub with good company, food and beer is a perfect end to a day's walk. If any of this sounds interesting to you and you fancy joining me then please don't hesitate to get in touch. Best wishes for rewarding walking, John.

new Male Walker, 57, based near Amersham

Message: I'm based in S Bucks but love the mountains and hills: Peaks, Dartmoor, Beacons, Shropshire hills, mid-Wales, N and S Downs. I can get to them all in no more than three hours, have a great day's walking, and home again - as long as I'm out of the car for more than I'm in it, that's OK. If you'd like to meet for a walk in these or any other (not too flat) regions, and are looking for friendship and company, I'd love to hear from you. I've recently (2017) taken to my tent again after many years, so a bike ride with tent turns into a splendid adventure. The Lakes, Snowdonia, and Scotland are the real draws though, especially in winter conditions. I've been up to the far NW and the W and Central Highlands for the last few years and love them. And the Alps of course, and Arctic Norway! I like mountains and hills. I walk among them and try to ski (downhill and touring) them, and recently mountain bike through them to save my legs when getting to the more remote ones. Try imagining the peaks and valleys under a kilometre of ice shaping the Lakes or Highlands into the dramatic wild places they can be today! Until recently, I worked right in the middle of London which was enjoyable and different; I live at the end of a Tube line with a usually-muddy field-and-woods walk to my local station. But I've made the move (end 2015) to working from home, in my own time, so I'm freed from the weekends-only bids for the outdoors. Oh, and my name is Robert.

Message: Hello my name is Sue and I live in the highlands. I'm looking for walking friend/s to enjoy the fabulous scenery! I've not done much serious walking for a few years as have been into triathlon and lately cycling. Now I feel it's a good time to get back to walking, either long or short but am a bit wary of ridges! My other interests are gardening (because I've got one) theatre, cinema, good food, travel and my dog. Just to mention a few! I'm retired so have time to go off whenever I feel like it, why don't you join me? Thanks for reading.

Message: Hi, Out of practice walker looking for someone to help me get a bit fitter. Having been dog free for a few years I could easily slip into couch potato mode, I did have some encouragement to get out there but am rapidly slipping back into the mire! I can walk around 6-7 miles no problem and up to 10 on a good day.I have walked quite a lot in the Dales in the past and more recently on the Wolds. I like to enjoy the scenery, take photos etc and a walk with a pub at the end is always better! Im looking for male or female walking companions, initially to walk fairly locally but hopefully maybe have weekends away later. I have my own transport, Im quite chatty and enjoy a good laugh, I don't have any objection to dog owners. I will reply to all messages. Hope to meet new friends soon.

Message: Hi I'm Karen. I'm single and now that I am retired I have a lot more time to go walking just for an afternoon or a day (week days and weekends) or for weeks. I'd like to meet up with other walkers to continue to do the SW Coast Path (I have done form Poole to nearly Plymouth and am happy to do other bits in any order), Offa's Dyke, the Coast to Coast or West Highland Way from 2017 onwards. I've walked the Thames Path from my home as I live on the Wiltshire / Gloucestershire borders, as well as most of my local walks and many more all over the UK - on my own and many in groups; always much more fun and interesting. I have a car and am happy to travel and go for walks all over the UK and abroad; I will tackle hills; have done Snowdon and other fairly high spots like the Jurassic Coast but my knees now really prefer fewer or shorter or less steep climbs. I love watching for wildlife along the way and would love to share the scenery and enjoyment with male or female friends. Its great to have a bit of a laugh and a chat along the way, especially if interspersed with stop offs for a cuppa or at a pub.

Message: I love walking and enjoy everything to do with the countryside, the coast, and the hills. I'm fairly fit but do need a breather now and again!! Be good to walk occasionally with someone whose happy to admire the view sometimes while I catch up. . . . at least until I get fitter!! I can manage 8-12 miles on the level at the moment. I managed the C2C a few years ago!! I'm retired so can walk during the week but have a fairly busy life. I have wheels and I'm happy to travel. Message: Hello Fellow-walkers, I'm Jeannette and live south of Preston. I enjoy walking and the outdoors generally and although do walk alone prefer to walk with a companion or a small group of two or three like minded people. I love being surrounded by the hills, so particularly enjoy the lakes and dales and will happliy camp out . . . . . . but must admit I am more a 'fair weathered camper' and enjoy a pub evening meal as opposed to cooking on the stove every day. I would like to meet up with both guys and girls to go walking with, either weekdays or weekends. Hope to hear from you. Have fun!

Male Walker, 71, based near Matlock

Message: Hi, I'm Adrian, single, retired, fit, and keen to meet an active fit female walking companion to explore our beautiful islands, and further afield. I have a camper van to tour and also to use as a mobile base for circular and linear walks, perhaps on classic long distance national trails. I enjoy all types of walks both short and full day walks and long distance. On the latter I prefer to complete the walk in one go rather than spread over weeks, months or year. I have completed a number of classic long distance paths including The Pennine Way and Wainwrights Coast to Coast, but I'm not against doing these again if my companion wished to do them. Not so good on heights these days so I avoid walking on high level narrow ledges. I am a vegetarian who eats fish, non competitive nature, passionate about our natural world, fun loving, often quirky. Other interests include camping, cycling, casual nature walks, am NT and RSPB member, conservation volunteering, reading, eclectic taste in music, art cinema, theatre, the arts, wildlife gardening and DIY. Am politically a bit of a lefty. If any of this appeals, please get in touch.

Message: Who doesn't love getting out in to the hills?! The usual places for me tend to be the Peaks, Lakes, Snowdonia or Scotland (especially the Cairngorms) but Scotland is such a loooooong drive away. I love cycling day to day, mostly road riding but also enjoy some gentle blue route mountain biking as well. I sometimes feel adventurous and try the red but am a bit technically inept :/ I started a new chapter in my life in Sep 2015 by heading back to Uni. Its been great fun and i am particularly excited about the chance I'll get to spend my summer weeks exploring the hills again. No preference to male or female companionship although i work weekends so am looking for regular company Mon - Fri (or occassionally a week or two away further afield when my timetable allows) and also people who don't mind dogs as mine goes everywhere with me. I also prefer walking with 1 or 2 people at a time. Tried the group walking and its just not for me. Hope to hear from all you fellow adventurers soon!

Message: Hi, I live in Glasgow, with my border collie Rannoch, not far from Loch Lomond. I used to be a regular walker in my younger days and I'm looking to get back into the great outdoors but would prefer to do it with some company, so I am looking for new friends to go walking with. I've done the West Highland Way three times, The Great Glen Way once and would love to try some of our other long distance national trails, but, I'm also happy to do day walks. I'm easy going, enjoy new challenges, and always up for a laugh, life's too short to be too serious !!! I love nature and wildlife, love taking photos, and enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Message: I've just come home from work, walking all day in the Worcestershire countryside in the sun with a pack of dogs, including my own. Having served my time climbing hills and mountains with groups of children in the Outdoor Education sector, I now spend my working hours walking with dogs and feel it would be good and healthy to spend my leisure time walking with adult company. About me - my name is Alison (50 next year and planning various walking trips to celebrate) and if you walk with me you walk with my Collie, Gwenon. For me its about being out there in the countryside, listening to the birds, hugging the trees, reconnecting with the natural world, catching the views as much as bagging peaks - although this is always an added bonus. I am as happy in the lowlands, in the woods, by the sea as I am navigating my way across highlands and moorland. I am a sound navigator and enjoy exploring as well as working out the maths! I enjoy exploring off the beaten track and have also been known to while away my time playing in the stream. If any of this sounds appealing and you are willing to join me being out there in the wild or not so wild, get in touch.

Message: Hi all fellow walkers! I'm a 32 year old single male looking for male or female walkers and hiking buddies to explore the local region, notably the Peak District, Parts of Wales such as the Brecon Beacons or Snowdonia and the Lakes and Beyond in the Scottish Highlands. I'm reasonably fit and active, as I run or cycle often, and have done a touch of scrambling in Wales. I'm relatively new to it all, so by no means super experienced, but I'd love to share and learn from other walkers and individuals and go and explore what the great outdoors has to offer! I can navigate ( in basic terms!) and I own a trusty walking GPS along with all mapping paraphernalia. If you'd like to meet a fun, young, fit and open minded give-it-a-go walker who will attempt anything at least once (despite my fear of heights!) then I look forward to hearing from you!

Message: Now retired and living in the west of the Lake District I walk and cycle regularly and enjoy scrambling but would enjoy some company and that pint at the end with a hearty bar meal and lively conversation to round off a good day. I'm a non-smoker with a good sense of humour, very interested in wildlife, in particular otters and birds but also nature in general and landscape photography in particular. I have a campervan so get all over the country and to Scotland at least 4 times a year, the Isle of Skye being a favourite along with island hopping and Ardnamurchan whenever possible - I'm also trying to tick off more Munros - when the weather's good for views! I cycle, enjoy backpacking, have canoed and sailed in the past, I've skied many top French resorts over 35 years and enjoy a tough walk on the summits as much as a low level ramble stopping off to view waterfalls, a panorama or sunset or just to sit, reflect and share a magic moment in like-minded company. I particularly enjoy outdoor sketching in watercolour. If you fancy a ramble, a trek here or abroad, or a scramble, I hope to hear from you.

Male Walker, 55, based near Worcestershire

Message: Hello, my name is Alex, I am a well spoken, well educated male, fit, slim, single, 55 year old, living in a beautiful, rural area of Worcestershire. I received an email a couple of years ago from a chum who was backpacking his way around New Zealand, and he was encouraging me to get off my bottom, see more of this island, and perhaps join a walking club. . . . so here I am! In February 2016 I had a major operation, but all is well now thankfully. Initially, I would like to gently ease my way back into walking, until full fitness is restored. I regularly used to walk the Malvern Hills, all through the Cotswolds, and have done many, many miles in the West of Ireland when I lived there. I still want to walk my regular walks, but now I have a mind to cast my net wider, in search of some fresh challenges and experiences. My ideal companion who I would like to join me? Female, slim, bright, optimistic, good company, has a sense of direction (as my map reading ability is very rusty). Someone who would be happy to have a few well deserved drinks and a pub meal at the end of the day. I no longer have a dog, so if you do happen to have a four-legged friend who loves the outdoor life, and who of course loves me too, then even better. I have plenty of time on my hands, during the week and at weekends, and I drive, so if you are looking for some genial and intelligent company along the way, perhaps we should make a plan.

Male Walker, 46, based near York

Message: Hi, I'm on the lookout for new walking companions that share my passion for hill walking. I try to get out into the North York Moors or Dales as frequently as possible. Weekends to Snowdonia and Cumbria are always treasured. I usually manage to walk abroad once a year (the Julian Alps in Slovenia are my absolute favourite). Would love to hook up with like minded people to share a walk or two so please get in touch. Thanks Patrick.

Male Walker, 65, based near Aberdeen

Message: Hi. i live in Aberdeenshire and walk regularly, mainly hills, forest tracks and beaches. Being now semi retired with more spare time i would like to walk some of the many walking ways which we have in this country. I am also keen to walk some of the longer stretches of beach. Walking alone means i always have to return to where i have parked , so with a companion and a second car longer walks would be possible. Im looking for walking buddies who are reasonably fit, male female or couple. I have just bought a camper van so am able and keen to travel. I am also also a life long naturist so if weather and location permit i prefer to walk nude. It is the most liberating and stress busting experience i know but please bear this in mind if replying. Robbie.
