new Male Walker, 59, based near Keith

Message: Hi, my name is John and I live and work near the Cairngorm Mountains in northern Scotland. I moved here recently because I love the beauty of this region in particular and Scotland more generally. In the coming years I intend to explore much of this landscape. I'm an experienced walker in both Britain and abroad but I take a very relaxed approach to walking with no hurry or mileage or peak targets to meet. I just love being in beautiful landscapes and enjoying the wonders of nature. I usually carry binoculars with me to observe any wildlife that puts in an appearance and Scotland has plenty to offer in this regard. I'm friendly and easy going and enjoy socialising. A visit to a nice pub with good company, food and beer is a perfect end to a day's walk. If any of this sounds interesting to you and you fancy joining me then please don't hesitate to get in touch. Best wishes for rewarding walking, John.

new Male Walker, 57, based near Amersham

Message: I'm based in S Bucks but love the mountains and hills: Peaks, Dartmoor, Beacons, Shropshire hills, mid-Wales, N and S Downs. I can get to them all in no more than three hours, have a great day's walking, and home again - as long as I'm out of the car for more than I'm in it, that's OK. If you'd like to meet for a walk in these or any other (not too flat) regions, and are looking for friendship and company, I'd love to hear from you. I've recently (2017) taken to my tent again after many years, so a bike ride with tent turns into a splendid adventure. The Lakes, Snowdonia, and Scotland are the real draws though, especially in winter conditions. I've been up to the far NW and the W and Central Highlands for the last few years and love them. And the Alps of course, and Arctic Norway! I like mountains and hills. I walk among them and try to ski (downhill and touring) them, and recently mountain bike through them to save my legs when getting to the more remote ones. Try imagining the peaks and valleys under a kilometre of ice shaping the Lakes or Highlands into the dramatic wild places they can be today! Until recently, I worked right in the middle of London which was enjoyable and different; I live at the end of a Tube line with a usually-muddy field-and-woods walk to my local station. But I've made the move (end 2015) to working from home, in my own time, so I'm freed from the weekends-only bids for the outdoors. Oh, and my name is Robert.

Message: Hello my name is Sue and I live in the highlands. I'm looking for walking friend/s to enjoy the fabulous scenery! I've not done much serious walking for a few years as have been into triathlon and lately cycling. Now I feel it's a good time to get back to walking, either long or short but am a bit wary of ridges! My other interests are gardening (because I've got one) theatre, cinema, good food, travel and my dog. Just to mention a few! I'm retired so have time to go off whenever I feel like it, why don't you join me? Thanks for reading.

Female Walker, 57, based near Aberdeen

Message: Hi, I'm looking to meet fellow walkers who don't mind a wee dog coming along and a walker who doesn't really know her Corbett's from Munro's, but likes a biscuit at the top!- that's both of us. However I do walk regularly, love nature, and don't mind being outside in most weathers. I enjoy art, scuba, reading, music and am pretty easy going. I would like to extend my walking, and to share some company in doing so would be great. I'm not keen on heights so sheer ridges and summits are not for me I'm afraid, but I'm fairly fit and up for a wide range of walks, otherwise. I hope to extend some skills like map reading, compass etc without losing the enjoyment of just a good day of walking! I work full time so weekends are best, and holidays are much more flexible in the distances I can travel.

Male Walker, 55, based near Worcestershire

Message: Hello, my name is Alex, I am a well spoken, well educated male, fit, slim, single, 55 year old, living in a beautiful, rural area of Worcestershire. I received an email a couple of years ago from a chum who was backpacking his way around New Zealand, and he was encouraging me to get off my bottom, see more of this island, and perhaps join a walking club. . . . so here I am! In February 2016 I had a major operation, but all is well now thankfully. Initially, I would like to gently ease my way back into walking, until full fitness is restored. I regularly used to walk the Malvern Hills, all through the Cotswolds, and have done many, many miles in the West of Ireland when I lived there. I still want to walk my regular walks, but now I have a mind to cast my net wider, in search of some fresh challenges and experiences. My ideal companion who I would like to join me? Female, slim, bright, optimistic, good company, has a sense of direction (as my map reading ability is very rusty). Someone who would be happy to have a few well deserved drinks and a pub meal at the end of the day. I no longer have a dog, so if you do happen to have a four-legged friend who loves the outdoor life, and who of course loves me too, then even better. I have plenty of time on my hands, during the week and at weekends, and I drive, so if you are looking for some genial and intelligent company along the way, perhaps we should make a plan.

Message: Hi. i live in Aberdeenshire and walk regularly, mainly hills, forest tracks and beaches. Being now semi retired with more spare time i would like to walk some of the many walking ways which we have in this country. I am also keen to walk some of the longer stretches of beach. Walking alone means i always have to return to where i have parked , so with a companion and a second car longer walks would be possible. Im looking for walking buddies who are reasonably fit, male female or couple. I have just bought a camper van so am able and keen to travel. I am also also a life long naturist so if weather and location permit i prefer to walk nude. It is the most liberating and stress busting experience i know but please bear this in mind if replying. Robbie.

Message: I'm looking for friends who enjoys walking and the great outdoors to join me on my adventures. I walk between 6 and 10 miles most weekends, with shorter walks during the week. I live in the Charnwood Forest area of Leicestershire, which has some beautiful countryside. I also enjoy walking in Wales and the Peak District, the Lakes District, Cornwall and Scotland. I also enjoy camping, bodyboarding, kayaking and other outdoor activities. I work full time during the week, but I'm willing to travel reasonable distance for weekend walks (North Wales, Peak District, etc), and further for weekends away/holidays/etc. I like to travel, so walking holidays abroad are also a possibility. Message: Hi, I moved to Scotland recently and I'm keen to explore. I've done quite a bit of cycle touring in the UK and France, and a fair amount of walking in the Lake District. I'm a car owner/driver, so I can travel around. I'm looking to meet new friends to explore this wonderful country with. I like being outdoors, I can cope with all weathers, and am happy walking and cycling. The glass of beer at the end of the day is always very welcome and I like the planning, lunch making and post walk/cycle banter.

Message: Hi. I'm an easy-going romantic with a love of the countryside - high rugged areas, green and pleasant lands, peaceful valleys and windswept ridges. Not averse to a few home comforts, nice BandBs, concerts, cooking, camping if needs must. Working, but lots of spare weekdays and weekends, plenty of ideas of what I want to do more of - visits to the Highlands, Wales, and anywhere else that takes my fancy. It would be nice to share these good times with a like-minded, independent female. You will find me (I hope) considerate, good-humoured and honest. Live near Nottingham but travelling not a problem.

Male Walker, 54, based near Aberdeen City

Message: Hello, My names is James and I am a Scot. I live and work in Aberdeen. Synopses of my out-door life:- Been walking and hiking all over Scotland for the past years. I normally try and get away as much as possible, both winter and summer. I have a Camper-van that I take with me every-time I can get away. My plans are usually structured in a pattern that involves getting to the location of the climb, park-up Hovis (camper-van) and start the climb. I normally try and ensure that the route will take in a night or two of - wild camping under a canvas - listening to a menacingly howling gale on the outside while quietly thinking (praying) "have I hammered my tent pegs in the ground well-enough to out-last the storm on the outside:) I also use Bothy's if they are on my route, and - hope when I stumble across one that there is stone fireplace inside, where I can try and get a fire up and running - and hopefully try and get the surrounding stone warm enough for some heat-retention that might last the night. I also try and structure a night in my plan to factor in a bunk-house and / or Youth-Hostel. After my climb I head back to my start position, pick up Hovis and head away to the next random location. I spent a few weeks last year in Skye doing exactly this, however-I still never achieve all my ambitions that this truly beautiful location has to offer. My plan this year 2015 is to go back and carry on where I left off. The type of person that I enjoy spending my time with on this wonderful pursuit is a person that is:- full of life, and is not put off with some rough days of challenging Scottish weather. In addition to this, I would like to get some addition wild camping experience in with someone who also enjoys battling the elements. I have various interests which range from Genetics to how the universe operates and the day to day challenge we have to overcome each day of this amazing world we all live in. I also enjoy the company of people who specialise in all aspects of things outdoors. Geology along with the basics of human Physiology also interest me. So if you are up for cold weather, a night or two in my camper, the odd Bothy, bunkhouse and youth-hostel or sitting on top of the Cuillins watching the sun go down please let me know and we can perhaps arrange to share some truly amazing events that we receive as gifts from an entity we call nature. A force that shares - each and every day of this vast structure of our planet we all live on. Motto:- There is no such thing as bad weather, only inadequate clothing :) Thanks James.

Male Walker, 55, based near Carlisle

Message: Hi, I am Simon a 55 year old male from Carlisle. I love the outdoors and the hills and mountains in particular. I live close to the Lakes which I adore, but my greatest passion is for the Scottish Highlands, in particular the far north west, with Skye and Torridon being my favourites. I have to confess to being a 'bagger. ' I also enjoy a good scramble. However, I enjoy shorter and less strenuous walks along glens and valleys and along beaches and headlands. I am out in the Lakes regularly and go to the Highlands as often as I can. I have made a number of bothy and camping trips, as well as staying in hostels and B and B's. The odd foray to Snowdonia has usually met with bad weather, but I live in hope. I am looking for a female who enjoys exploring the wild and beautiful mountainous areas of our islands, and shares my passion for reaching the top.

Male Walker, 45, based near Near Blairgowrie

Message: Hi, I'm a 50 something! bloke that loves walking, we are not talking mountain climbing here, just nice easy to strenuous walks. I keep fairly fit and walk/cycle whenever I can. I used to take my dog with me everywhere, but sadly I lost my old faithful friend a couple of weeks ago, so if you have a dog that's great. I am self employed and can go out and about more or less whenever the urge takes me! I am looking for a female walking companion, because walking with somebody to chit chat to is a lot more fun. Message: Hi, My name is Rob and I live in Peterborough. I'm easy going and love good conversation, interested in all sorts of things and always interested to learn. I used to be a member of a local club but the large numbers and the clickyness (is that a word) that you seemed to get, put me off. I love walking in Derbyshire and the lakes. I have climbed the old man at Coniston and two years ago did Tyfan in Wales by the North face (although to be honest I was out of my comfort zone at times). The club I was in regualary did 10-13 miles walks but I havent' done this for a year or two so might have to build up the distance again. I would love to meet up with like minded females/males to get back into walking again at weekends as I work all week. I have a reliable car and dont mind travel as long as theirs a pint at a local pub at the end of the walk! I have basic map reading although very rusty and would like to get better at this again. I look forward to hearing from you.

Female Walker, 50, based near Lyndhurst /Exmoor

Message: Hi I am a fairly fit heterosexual lady who would love to find a walking companion. I run a pub in the New Forest which is when I walk daily with my dogs but I spend alot of my time in Exmoor on my days off, where I also walk. I tend to walk much longer walks down there as obviously I have more time. I love taking time out to explore new areas especially Scotland which I have visited a lot but find it a bit lonely on my own all the time. I love staying in my camper in remote places and travelling around discovering new places in the British Isles. I would obviously like to meet the love of my life but to find a likewise person who is bright, loves the countryside, can cope with my dogs and enjoys walking with me would be great. I can walk up to 8 /10 miles easily and love picnics, or a visit to a pub. Male Walker, 48, based near Sherburn In Elmet (Leeds)

Message: Hi ! My name is Warren and I am a hill bagger ! The higher the hill the better ! I usually go walking on my own with my dog “Rocky”! I like a challenge when im walking, I like high hills and steep climbs and I like walking in all weathers ! Recently I have started to walk the Munros my first been An Teallach (via the scary ridge). I has also climbed Ben Nevis via Carn Mor Dearg and I will be in scotland for a week again from the 11th of October stopping in Fort William and planning to climb all ten of the Munro's in the "Mamores" region. I drive a HGV for a large supermarket chain for a living so I work strange shifts and I have a lot of days off in the week but not many weekends off work. I would like to meet a walking companion male or female that likes visiting the tops of hills. When I go walking I usually walk a circular route of any wear between 7 and 15 miles ! Sometimes after a long hard walk i like a pub dinner and a pint !

Male Walker, 39, based near Chulmleigh

Message: Hi, I'm James from North Devon. Walking has really helped me to recover my strength and stamina after a long period of illness. Dartmoor is right on my doorstep and I have been making a determined effort this year to get to know it better. Wild camping on the moor has a deeply therapeutic effect on me - underlining the importance of keeping things simple and in balance. I usually walk alone, my friends are usually busy, and I think some company would be nice. Dartmoor is a wonderful playground that I would never tire of but I am happy to try anywhere in the UK that I can reach by train. I have a spare tent that I can lend out if you are not sure whether camping is your thing but would like to give it a go without spending lots of money. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Female Walker, 46, based near Peterborough

Message: Hi. My name's Jackie and I live in Peterborough. I have two small, well behaved dogs who get me out and about all the time, but it would be nice to have some company and an opportunity to explore the UK and try different walks. I am very fit so can handle a casual stroll or a hike. Please feel free to contact me if you'd like to hook up. Have transport and a good sense of humour - I make myself laugh all the time! Thanks for reading my message. (Sorry but I won't respond to anyone who doesn't have a profile/photo. A girl has to be careful after all :) )

Male Walker, 40, based near Shipley

Message: Hi all. . New to the site and looking to arrange regular walks at weekends and potentially walking holidays etc I have not been walking for a while, used to wander around the cairngorms as a youth but since moving to england I havent really had the time until now to do much. Im raring to go now though and need to get a few walks organised to ease myself back in gently. Not looking for anything too taxing to start with but hope to build up to do something more adventurous in due course Forest walking has always been my favourite and am looking forward to exploring the options for that down here. . I am more than happy to travel anywhere really and to try any kind of walking in any environment. My main reason for getting into walking is to get back to a good level of fitness, allied to that of course I love being in the outdoors and meeting new people. . hence the reason for joining up here I would consider myself to be fun and spontaneous with a desire to explore and go on little adventures. . come and say hello and hopefully we can organise something
