new Female Walker, 41, based near Stirling

Message: More of a wanderer than a trekker probably. Can walk about 10 to 12 miles at the moment but would really like to improve fitness and health and lose some of my curves. Based in Central Scotland and have my own transport and satnav! Generally work a five day week so have weekends free. I have two young dogs who would love long walks. I love photography, live music, play guitar, have my own tent and know Scotland pretty well. Good conversation, flasks of tea, shortbread and laughter a must!

Male Walker, 38, based near Newport

Message: Hi, been walking fairly regularly for last year and looking for a people to go walking with (wife has subtalar fusion on ankle preventing long/uneven walks) and are interested in sharing the great outdoors, fresh air, having a chat and a laugh with. I'm highly motivated and have a small group of people I go out with normally but as availability can sometimes be an issue it's always good to keep your horizons broadened and anyone is welcome on our tour as it's pretty socialist and democratic. I can travel to just about anywhere if it's planned in advance but mainly stick to walks in south wales or neighbouring english counties, and also scotland when I go back there which is fairly regular and am fairly good with navigation and have transport. If there are any questions - feel free to ask, I am open and honest, bordering on blunt at times. Enjoy.

Female Walker, 50, based near Lyndhurst

Message: Hi I am a fairly fit heterosexual lady who would love to find a walking companion. I run a pub in the New Forest which is when I walk daily with my dogs but I spend alot of my time in Exmooron my days off, where I also walk. I tend to walk much longer walks down there as obviously I have more time. I love taking time out to explore new areas especially Scotland which I have visited a lot but find it a bit lonely on my own all the time. I love staying in my camper in remote places and travelling around discovering new places in the British Isles. I would obviously like to meet the love of my life but to find a likewise person who is bright, loves the countryside, can cope with my dogs and enjoys walking with me would be great. I can walk up to 8 /10 miles easily and love picnics, or a visit to a pub. I am visiting The Outer Hebrides for a couple of weeks in Sept and it would be good now that I have found this site to prehaps find someone to accompany me. It could be alot of fun. Anyone that would like to meet for a walk in the New Forest or Exmoor (or anywhere really. . there are so many places to see) please get in touch. I run from my pub a dog walk on the 1st Sunday in the month. Feel free anyone with a mut that would like to come along.

Message: Hi, Out of practice walker looking for someone to help me get a bit fitter. Having been dog free for a few years I have slipped into couch potato mode, I did have some encouragement to get out there but am rapidly slipping back into the mire! I can walk around ten miles no problem and have walked quite a lot in the Dales in the past and more recently on the Wolds. I like to enjoy the scenery, take photos etc and a walk with a pub at the end is always better! Im looking for male or female walking companions, initially to walk fairly locally but hopefully maybe have weekends away later. I have my own transport, Im quite chatty and enjoy a good laugh. I will reply to all messages.

Female Walker, 53, based near Newcastle Upon Tyne

Message: Hi I'm a reasonably fit 50+ lady looking for walking companion(s) or a group of walkers in the North East of England. Just to get away from the same old home to work routine that goes on week after week. My partner thinks getting from A to B should be done by the quickest and fastest route possible. (Why walk when you can get there in a rocket!) Have previously done some walking/hiking in North Yorks and Lake District and Northumberland. I'm free most weekends, but would also like to organise a group walk for a few days. I know the weather's not great at the moment, but meeting up just to talk about organising walks could be fun and could be done over a couple of drinks in a warm friendly pub? If you fancy walking or talking about walking, get in touch.

Female Walker, 54, based near Aberdeen

Message: Hello I have become fairly passionate about walking since I took it up 4 years ago and am hoping to climb some Munros next year, having tackled Ben Macdui and Braeriach recently - not to 'bag' them but to find unknown areas of Scotland (despite being Scottish born and bred!). Also would like to do the 'haute' route and G10 in Europe now the family are independant. My pace is moderate as I like to look about, but steady, have recently come back from trekking in Peru which was a great experience. Planning on being free from work Fridays into Saturdays. Am a novice but enthusiastic map reader who has very basic sat nav skills. Although I am a member of a walking group , it is good to walk/chat to a companion. Look forward to hearing from any like minded folk.

Message: Hi, I am a newly single female living close to Loch Lomond and have recently started walking. Its difficult being too adventurous on your own so I am looking for a male of similar age to enjoy the walks. It would be good if he was a more experienced walker as I would like to go further afield- even down to the Lakes as I believe it is beautiful there although I live on the edge of beautiful walking country. I just love being outdoors, for the smells, views and of course the glass of wine at the end ! I am happy to travel.

Message: Hi , is anyone up for walking the West Highland Way this year ? I've been hoping to do this for a whil and finally decided to give it a go now that I have some free time. I have looked at guided walking companies but prices seem ludicrous . It would be fun to do this walk with others who enjoy the lovely Scottish scenery and good company. I need to get a little fitter before embarking on this so I plan to do some other walks beforehand. Would love to hear from others[ age and gender unimportant ] who also have an interest in completing the WHW . I am also interested in walking in the Lake DIistrict, yorkshire Dales etc, week-ends away or day walks . On a personal note I have wide interests, care about others and our environment. I also have a good sense of humour and like everyone else I enjoy company and refreshments at the end of an exhilarating day. So, come on, you know you want to do this walk , get in touch !
