new Female Walker, 64, based near North Yorkshire/Yorkshire Dales

Message: Looking for walking mates (m or f) to do moderate/strenuous walks. I am passionate about the hills, wild places and like a challenge. I am an experienced hillwalker but also enjoy social walks. I usually walk with groups - or alone to practice navigation (which I am reasonable at) - though prefer to walk with others. It would be good to meet up with likeminded walking buddies as its always better to share the experience. I'm easy going, enjoy socialising, have a good soh and when at my fittest I walk in Scotland, the Pyrenees and Spain. It would be good to get to know anyone else who might be interested in walking locally to any of the locations listed or even to these other stunning areas. I work P/T as a health professional and can walk in the week as well as at week-ends. I'm happy to travel to meet up.

This year have done Annapurna base camp, toubkal Morocco, picos dos europas, and Everest base camp 2 weeks ago.Love the Himalayas. South America and others await. Message: Hi, my name is John and I live and work near the Cairngorm Mountains in northern Scotland. I moved here recently because I love the beauty of this region in particular and Scotland more generally. In the coming years I intend to explore much of this landscape. I'm an experienced walker in both Britain and abroad but I take a very relaxed approach to walking with no hurry or mileage or peak targets to meet. I just love being in beautiful landscapes and enjoying the wonders of nature. I usually carry binoculars with me to observe any wildlife that puts in an appearance and Scotland has plenty to offer in this regard. I'm friendly and easy going and enjoy socialising. A visit to a nice pub with good company, food and beer is a perfect end to a day's walk. If any of this sounds interesting to you and you fancy joining me then please don't hesitate to get in touch. Best wishes for rewarding walking, John.

Male Walker, 57, based near Amersham

Message: I'm based in S Bucks but love the mountains and hills: Peaks, Dartmoor, Beacons, Shropshire hills, mid-Wales, N and S Downs. I can get to them all in no more than three hours, have a great day's walking, and home again - as long as I'm out of the car for more than I'm in it, that's OK. If you'd like to meet for a walk in these or any other (not too flat) regions, and are looking for friendship and company, I'd love to hear from you. I've recently (2017) taken to my tent again after many years, so a bike ride with tent turns into a splendid adventure. The Lakes, Snowdonia, and Scotland are the real draws though, especially in winter conditions. I've been up to the far NW and the W and Central Highlands for the last few years and love them. And the Alps of course, and Arctic Norway! I like mountains and hills. I walk among them and try to ski (downhill and touring) them, and recently mountain bike through them to save my legs when getting to the more remote ones. Try imagining the peaks and valleys under a kilometre of ice shaping the Lakes or Highlands into the dramatic wild places they can be today! Until recently, I worked right in the middle of London which was enjoyable and different; I live at the end of a Tube line with a usually-muddy field-and-woods walk to my local station. But I've made the move (end 2015) to working from home, in my own time, so I'm freed from the weekends-only bids for the outdoors. Oh, and my name is Robert.

Message: Hello my name is Sue and I live in the highlands. I'm looking for walking friend/s to enjoy the fabulous scenery! I've not done much serious walking for a few years as have been into triathlon and lately cycling. Now I feel it's a good time to get back to walking, either long or short but am a bit wary of ridges! My other interests are gardening (because I've got one) theatre, cinema, good food, travel and my dog. Just to mention a few! I'm retired so have time to go off whenever I feel like it, why don't you join me? Thanks for reading.

Male Walker, 56, based near Kent

Message: Hi my name is Richard, I am a keen North Kent/London runner and walker of 57 years. I like nothing more than to explore the great outdoors on foot. Its funny I started walking some years back and when realising I was not as fit as I thought I started to run to improve my hill stamina and caught the bug. I have walked all over the UK either in groups or solo including the West Highland Way, half of the Southwest Coastal Path and half of Offa's Dyke, I'd love to finish these walks one day. The South Downs Way was a great walk achieved in chunks. I have been very interested for a long time and admired the achievements of others who have climbed Mount Everest and finally achieved a lifetime ambition with friends and trekked to Everest Base Camp a few years back, why…'because its there'. I am just back from a trek to Machu Picchu, an incredible life experience. So, where to now, looking for a new challenge with new company.

Message: Hi. . great website! I moved up to County Durham in 2010 because of work and previous love of the scenery. I did Pennine Way 30 years ago (and love revisiting bits of it), the Dales Way, WHW, Great Glen Way, Dava Way, Isaac's Tea Trail. I've enjoyed regular walking times in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales, Scottish Highlands, the Borders and Northumberland. Although I'd like to walk C2C sometime too, shorter circular walks are just as appealing. Thanks to other walkers on this site I recently completed my first Cheviot Challenge and another for Teesdale/Weardale Mountain Rescue. I enjoyed the 2014 Hadrians Wall Trekathon and raised over £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support. I don't have a dog to growl at you but would always prefer company to share the time with. I love to talk and walk and enjoy the views all along the way. Am free many weekends (when not being musical) and am looking forward to hearing from you. Happy 2017!! Andy

Message: Your Message Hi I am looking for a single male walking companion of similar age. I walk every week and at every opportunity( and at least a mile a day with my lurcher/ lab puppy , his company is optional by the way)! I would like to walk any where and everywhere and would like to get better at map reading and learn more about walking/ walks. Would like to do some serious walks - Pennine way etc... I have no sense of direction and find it hard to find my way out of a paper bag mostly, so someone who is willing to be responsible for me!! would be nice as would someone with a wicked sense of humour who's company I could enjoy, so If you are young at heart, have a nice smile and would like to share some good walks (maybe easy on the eye - that always helps!!) please get in touch! I like to stop every now and then and look around at the natural beauty and drink it all in, not too keen on route marches. A nice pub is always good . I would like to have some walking holidays , weekends, travel. So if you would like to help a novice and impart your knowledge and stories ,that would be nice.

Message: Hi, I'm Adrian, single, retired, fit, and keen to meet an active fit female walking companion to explore our beautiful islands, and further afield. I have a camper van to tour and also to use as a mobile base for circular and linear walks, perhaps on classic long distance national trails. I enjoy all types of walks both short and full day walks and long distance. On the latter I prefer to complete the walk in one go rather than spread over weeks, months or year. I have completed a number of classic long distance paths including The Pennine Way and Wainwrights Coast to Coast, but I'm not against doing these again if my companion wished to do them. Not so good on heights these days so I avoid walking on high level narrow ledges. I am a vegetarian who eats fish, non competitive nature, passionate about our natural world, fun loving, often quirky. Other interests include camping, cycling, casual nature walks, am NT and RSPB member, conservation volunteering, reading, eclectic taste in music, art cinema, theatre, the arts, wildlife gardening and DIY. Am politically a bit of a lefty. If any of this appeals, please get in touch.

Message: Hi, I'm looking to meet fellow walkers who don't mind a wee dog coming along and a walker who doesn't really know her Corbett's from Munro's, but likes a biscuit at the top!- that's both of us. However I do walk regularly, love nature, and don't mind being outside in most weathers. I enjoy art, scuba, reading, music and am pretty easy going. I would like to extend my walking, and to share some company in doing so would be great. I'm not keen on heights so sheer ridges and summits are not for me I'm afraid, but I'm fairly fit and up for a wide range of walks, otherwise. I hope to extend some skills like map reading, compass etc without losing the enjoyment of just a good day of walking! I work full time so weekends are best, and holidays are much more flexible in the distances I can travel.

Message: Hi all! Let me introduce myself as a hillwalker returning to the sport after a lengthy absence. I am looking to do some Munros in winter condition around the 29th of January. Until I gave up on hillwalking about ten years ago I had amassed around seventy five Munros, all done outside the winter season, so as you can guess I am a winter novice apart from doing a winter skills course more years ago than I care to remember! I am hoping someone on here will be in the Loch Tay or Drumochter Pass area at the time mentioned and would not mind me tagging along for some winter experience. I have the kit, map reading skills, cramprons, ice axe etc. . . I am physically fit from years of endurance road cycling and would not be a liability in any party. I would like to do something fairly non technical to begin with, maybe the Glen Lyon Munros or the Drumochter four to the west of the A9. Look forward to hearing from you!

Message: Who doesn't love getting out in to the hills?! The usual places for me tend to be the Peaks, Lakes, Snowdonia or Scotland (especially the Cairngorms) but Scotland is such a loooooong drive away. I love cycling day to day, mostly road riding but also enjoy some gentle blue route mountain biking as well. I sometimes feel adventurous and try the red but am a bit technically inept :/ I started a new chapter in my life in Sep 2015 by heading back to Uni. Its been great fun and i am particularly excited about the chance I'll get to spend my summer weeks exploring the hills again. No preference to male or female companionship although i work weekends so am looking for regular company Mon - Fri (or occassionally a week or two away further afield when my timetable allows) and also people who don't mind dogs as mine goes everywhere with me. I also prefer walking with 1 or 2 people at a time. Tried the group walking and its just not for me. Hope to hear from all you fellow adventurers soon!

Message: Hi, I live in Glasgow, with my border collie Rannoch, not far from Loch Lomond. I used to be a regular walker in my younger days and I'm looking to get back into the great outdoors but would prefer to do it with some company, so I am looking for new friends to go walking with. I've done the West Highland Way three times, The Great Glen Way once and would love to try some of our other long distance national trails, but, I'm also happy to do day walks. Female Walker, 53, based near Stourport-on-severn

Message: I've just come home from work, walking all day in the Worcestershire countryside in the sun with a pack of dogs, including my own. Having served my time climbing hills and mountains with groups of children in the Outdoor Education sector, I now spend my working hours walking with dogs and feel it would be good and healthy to spend my leisure time walking with adult company. About me - my name is Alison (50 next year and planning various walking trips to celebrate) and if you walk with me you walk with my Collie, Gwenon. For me its about being out there in the countryside, listening to the birds, hugging the trees, reconnecting with the natural world, catching the views as much as bagging peaks - although this is always an added bonus. I am as happy in the lowlands, in the woods, by the sea as I am navigating my way across highlands and moorland. I am a sound navigator and enjoy exploring as well as working out the maths! I enjoy exploring off the beaten track and have also been known to while away my time playing in the stream. If any of this sounds appealing and you are willing to join me being out there in the wild or not so wild, get in touch.

Male Walker, 34, based near Denbigh

Message: Hi, I love walking mostly in North Wales. The Clwydian range is my local area, I walk in Snowdonia and around the North Wales coast fairly often. Then other areas of the UK and beyond on occasions too. I've fallen in love with Skye and Harris/Lewis so given any excuse will also drive to Scotland, although secretly want a helicopter... Looking to explore Torridon and other areas of northern Scotland more in the future too. I'd love to meet new people who love walking. Dylan

Male Walker, 32, based near Birmingham

Message: Hi all fellow walkers! I'm a 32 year old single male looking for male or female walkers and hiking buddies to explore the local region, notably the Peak District, Parts of Wales such as the Brecon Beacons or Snowdonia and the Lakes and Beyond in the Scottish Highlands. I'm reasonably fit and active, as I run or cycle often, and have done a touch of scrambling in Wales. I'm relatively new to it all, so by no means super experienced, but I'd love to share and learn from other walkers and individuals and go and explore what the great outdoors has to offer! I can navigate ( in basic terms!) and I own a trusty walking GPS along with all mapping paraphernalia. If you'd like to meet a fun, young, fit and open minded give-it-a-go walker who will attempt anything at least once (despite my fear of heights!) then I look forward to hearing from you!

Female Walker, 57, based near Ludlow

Message: Hello My name is Terri I'm new to this site and looking for new walking friends as most of my friends have now lost motivation. I am a life long walker and cannot imagine life without walking! I live in lovely Ludlow and know the Shropshire Hills very well. I walk often in the Peak District, the Brecon Beacons and Wales all of which are within striking distance of here. I have family in France so also walk regularly in Europe particularly in the French and Spanish Pyrennees and next year have planned to do the camino from St. Jean de Luz. I am no longer working full time but am nowhere near ready to slow down. This means I have time to travel and enjoy new walking opportunities as well as make new friends who like me, love the great outdoors. Please contact me if you would like to walk with me either in the UK or Europe. Bon Voyage! Terri

Male Walker, 65, based near Llandrindod Wells

Message: There is nothing better than for me to be out walking in the hills and mountains of Wales (home now) or Scotland (home for 6 years until 2012) with my 2 spaniels. I would prefer to be out and about, joking and laughing with close friends rather than watching mind numbing TV on my own. I'm a Yorkshire lad, so any testing peak, anywhere in the UK or Europe, I would give it my best shot. There has to be some common sense prevailing when the location is chosen, so Wales, the Peak District, Cumbria, the South West would be easier to say yes to. Wild Camping, BandB, inns with good food and ale, I'm up for all of it, provided my dogs get to come too.
