new Male Walker, 50, based near Carlisle

Message: Hello all, I am just looking to make some new walking, cycling, camping/ hostelling friends and travel companions. . . I am a family man, but lack friends to go out and about with, as I live very rural, it is difficult to get out and meet people easily in my locality, so I want to find some like minded friends further afield. . I have lived in the North West for more than 7 years, but walked very little of it, so can anyone suggest some places to start walking. . . I really fancy starting off with camping along the Flyde coast somewhere, somehow, I just lack reliable adventurous friends to go off with and explore with or have some banter with around the BBQ/ camp fire. I walk mainly coastal and river based walks, I can walk some lower uplands, and eventually I hope to walk the high uplands in the UK, as hopefully my fitness improves. . . work in progress! I like coastal/ beach walks, visiting nice country inns for a meal, taking myself and my camera for a walk. . . I am an all weather walker, I am just lacking some company on my treks. . . . Hope to meet some new friends, just think it could be you !!

Message: Hi, I'm Graham, new to this site, but thought i'd give it a go! I'm 47, and a farmer, which keeps me fit, and contrary to popular belief, we do get time off!! I have a million hobbies, but walking, and especially up in the hills and mountains of this beautiful country of ours is my passion. Do have some walking friends, but most would rather sit infront of a TV, so looking for more like minded people, with the same passion, who love being on top of the roof of the world :) Have hill walked everywhere, but have recently discovered Snowdonia, which is strange, as it's been on my doorstep most of my life, and i'm in love hehe. If you fancy a good yomp up a mountain, some chat and some laughs. . . and maybe food and drink in a pub on the way home, then what are you waiting for, come and say hi :)

Female Walker, 43, based near South Molton

Message: Hello. I am looking for people to go walking with at the weekends mainly on Exmoor and Dartmoor, I normally have my dog with me but conversation is very thin on the ground! I love to be in the hills and mountains winter, summer and in any weather. I would like to make some friends to go off to Scotland, Lakes, Wales etc - any area where there is good walking really. I am an easy going 43 year old female and I also enjoy kayaking - although I am very new to it but the idea of combining a walking and kayaking holiday around the islands off Scotland appeals. I live in North Devon and have done all my life but people around here just don't seem to want to get out walking! So if you're up for a wander and maybe a pint or a cuppa along the way get in touch.

Female Walker, 49, based near Southampton

Message: Hi, I really enjoy walking but am generally too enthusiastic for most of my friends. I would like to meet a like minded walker to move me out of my comfort zone and support me to improve my fitness through regular, active walks (preferably involving a hill or two!) Biggest problem is that I live in Hampshire and obviously need to drive further afield to encounter any real altitude! Dorset coast is fabulous and only an hour away as indeed are the South Downs. Am interested in exploring further afield but would like opportunity to meet like-minded souls. I have been a walker off and on most of my life but would really love to move up a gear or two. If you think we might hit it off, would be great to hear from you.

Female Walker, 50, based near Lyndhurst

Message: Hi I am a fairly fit heterosexual lady who would love to find a walking companion. I run a pub in the New Forest which is when I walk daily with my dogs but I spend alot of my time in Exmooron my days off, where I also walk. I tend to walk much longer walks down there as obviously I have more time. I love taking time out to explore new areas especially Scotland which I have visited a lot but find it a bit lonely on my own all the time. I love staying in my camper in remote places and travelling around discovering new places in the British Isles. I would obviously like to meet the love of my life but to find a likewise person who is bright, loves the countryside, can cope with my dogs and enjoys walking with me would be great. I can walk up to 8 /10 miles easily and love picnics, or a visit to a pub. I am visiting The Outer Hebrides for a couple of weeks in Sept and it would be good now that I have found this site to prehaps find someone to accompany me. It could be alot of fun. Anyone that would like to meet for a walk in the New Forest or Exmoor (or anywhere really. . there are so many places to see) please get in touch. I run from my pub a dog walk on the 1st Sunday in the month. Feel free anyone with a mut that would like to come along.

Female Walker, 49, based near Stourport-on-severn

Message: I've just come home from work, walking all day in the Worcestershire countryside in the sun with a pack of dogs, including my own. Having served my time climbing hills and mountains with groups of children in the Outdoor Education sector, I now spend my working hours walking with dogs and feel it would be good and healthy to spend my leisure time walking with adult company. About me - my name is Alison (50 next year and planning various walking trips to celebrate) and if you walk with me you walk with my Collie, Gwenon. For me its about being out there in the countryside, listening to the birds, hugging the trees, reconnecting with the natural world, catching the views as much as bagging peaks - although this is always an added bonus. I am as happy in the lowlands, in the woods, by the sea as I am navigating my way across highlands and moorland. I am a sound navigator and enjoy exploring as well as working out the maths! I enjoy exploring off the beaten track and have also been known to while away my time playing in the stream. If any of this sounds appealing and you are willing to join me being out there in the wild or not so wild, get in touch.

Spring and summer is round the corner and it is far better sharing the enthusiasm (and the diesel!!!) with like minded others. I am passionate about the hills and wild places. Often walk with groups and will walk on my own to practice navigation - but would prefer to walk with mate/s. I'm in training for the first leg of the GR10 in August. Message: Hello Fellow-walkers, I'm Jeannette and live south of Preston. I enjoy walking and the outdoors generally and although do walk alone prefer to walk with a companion or a small group of two or three like minded people. I love being surrounded by the hills, so particularly enjoy the lakes and dales and will happliy camp out . . . . . . but must admit I am more a 'fair weathered camper' and enjoy a pub evening meal as opposed to cooking on the stove every day. I would like to meet up with both guys and girls to go walking and camping with, mainly at weekends, however if they live locally evening walks in the spring and summer would be lovely. Hope to hear from you. Have fun!

Message: Hi I am looking for new walking friends. Have done quite a lot of walking but awhile ago now and would like to take it up again. Ideally, prefer The Lakes, Yorks. Dales, Peak District and North York Moors but always open to suggestions for other areas. I love Scotland also but never walked in that region before. I have my own transport ie. a motorcycle, so travelling is no problem. Would be nice to combine walking with touring if there are any bikers out there but not set in stone. I enjoy all grades of walks as long as its not rock climbing or mountaineering. Hope to hear from some fellow walkers.

Female Walker, 45, based near London

Message: Hello - it's been a while since I've been actively walking. I'm looking for folks to get out into the fresh air with, starting modestly I would think, but I'm keen to build up to more strenuous walks. I am London-based but I am happy to travel to meet up somewhere in the country. Not a dog-owner myself but happy to share the experience with pooches
