Message: Hi, I'm Kevan and I live in Suffolk. I am now able walk long weekends and school holidays. I am keen to return to activities of my more youthful days, especially wild camping, although hostels are fine too. I'd also like to swim in streams and lakes in remote places as well! I'm looking to walk in Wales, Scotland and the north of England. A trip to Switzerland, Germany or Austria is also on the agenda. My children are grown up and my partner is not very keen on longer hikes.

Message: More of a wanderer than a trekker probably. Can walk about 10 to 12 miles at the moment but would really like to improve fitness and health and lose some of my curves. Based in Central Scotland and have my own transport and satnav! Generally work a five day week so have weekends free. I have two young dogs who would love long walks. I love photography, live music, play guitar, have my own tent and know Scotland pretty well. Good conversation, flasks of tea, shortbread and laughter a must!

new Male Walker, 58, based near Southampton

Message: WANTED - PARTNER FOR PYRENEAN WALK FROM ATLANTIC TO MEDITERRANEAN. I'm Steve, an experienced walker looking for a m/f partner to share the above challenging hike with me in 2014, largely following the 500 mile route of the HRP (Haute Randonnee Pyreneenne). Expected duration is around 6 weeks, long enough to really enjoy the experience rather than treat it as a route march. Young or old, age is immaterial, and whilst physical fitness is desirable you don't need to be an athlete. Rather more important is mental toughness, determination and a personality compatible with mine. I live near Southampton but will consider potential partners anywhere in the country provided we can get in some practice walks together. If this is the kind of life-changing experience you have been looking for, pop me a line.

I live in Edinburgh and keen to walk more munros, do longer trips wild camping as well as coastal walks. Anything that takes me outdoors! I am reasonably fit and run as well as ride a bike regularly. I have been up about 40 munros, so not a bagger. I don't have a car so depend on others/public transport. Am keen to see more of Scotland's wild places as well as the Borders/Northumberland and longer trips in France/Spain/Italy. My other interests are films, live gigs, drawing/painting, art galleries, cycle touring and reading.

Message: Hi I've joined this site in a hope to find some new friends to have fun with and share some nice days out walking. I'm originally from Scotland but moved to South Cheshire a few years ago so fairly new to the place & looking to explore. I have done a bit of hill walking in the past but like everything else you get lazy so I'm looking to use this as an excuse to get fit again because I'd really like to do the 3 peaks challenge. I have three dogs all Cavalier King Charles Spaniels which i would like to take walking with me (not on the harder routes though) so if you have a dog or don't mind fury animals then I would love to hear from you whether it be a lazy stroll or something a bit more energetic!.

Message: Hi all. . New to the site and looking to arrange regular walks at weekends and potentially walking holidays etc I have not been walking for a while, used to wander around the cairngorms as a youth but since moving to england I havent really had the time until now to do much. Im raring to go now though and need to get a few walks organised to ease myself back in gently. Not looking for anything too taxing to start with but hope to build up to do something more adventurous in due course Forest walking has always been my favourite and am looking forward to exploring the options for that down here. . I am more than happy to travel anywhere really and to try any kind of walking in any environment. My main reason for getting into walking is to get back to a good level of fitness, allied to that of course I love being in the outdoors and meeting new people. . hence the reason for joining up here I would consider myself to be fun and spontaneous with a desire to explore and go on little adventures. . come and say hello and hopefully we can organise something

Female Walker, 56, based near Perth

Message: Hi, my name is Petra. I have a lively Springer Spaniel who needs his long walks every weekend (and shorter ones during the week). I work full time so weekends are when I can go out walking. I enjoy gentle walks (anything from about 4-8 miles) and can cope with a bit of a gradient. (I'm not a Muntro bagger!) It's also nice to have a wee picnic stop about half way and possibly a coffee stop as well!. I am looking for a like minded person who would like to join me walking at weekends. I don't mind travelling and staying in dog friendly B & B's or small hotels as that way you get to see more of the country. I also have my own tent with electric hook up etc for summer camping. I look forward to hearing from you.

Female Walker, 50, based near Lyndhurst

Message: Hi I am a fairly fit heterosexual lady who would love to find a walking companion. I run a pub in the New Forest which is when I walk daily with my dogs but I spend alot of my time in Exmooron my days off, where I also walk. I tend to walk much longer walks down there as obviously I have more time. I love taking time out to explore new areas especially Scotland which I have visited a lot but find it a bit lonely on my own all the time. I love staying in my camper in remote places and travelling around discovering new places in the British Isles. I would obviously like to meet the love of my life but to find a likewise person who is bright, loves the countryside, can cope with my dogs and enjoys walking with me would be great. I can walk up to 8 /10 miles easily and love picnics, or a visit to a pub. I am visiting The Outer Hebrides for a couple of weeks in Sept and it would be good now that I have found this site to prehaps find someone to accompany me. It could be alot of fun. Anyone that would like to meet for a walk in the New Forest or Exmoor (or anywhere really. . there are so many places to see) please get in touch. I run from my pub a dog walk on the 1st Sunday in the month. Feel free anyone with a mut that would like to come along.

Message: I now feel like I have more spare time to do the Wainwrights and Munroes. It would be great if someone would like to take up this challenge with me. I live in the Midlands of England so someone local would be good but I would be pleased to meet up at the walk. I was thinking of spending a couple of days in the Lakes District for the Wainwrights ie Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. For Scotland I think that I would need to go for about 5 - 7 days at a time. I do not walk at a very fast pace.

Message: Hi, I'm a 54 year old female based near Farnham, looking for male/female company for more regular walking in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex, Dorest. Local walking groups are rather large and I prefer more one to one conversation, probably a faster pace too. I tend to use pre planned walks as I'm not the best map reader - happy to learn from an expert though! Available to walk at least every other weekend, and occasionally in the week, especially during summer months while the evenings are lighter. I'm reasonably fit (Gym and cycle) and happy to walk 8-10 miles or more. Love walking holidays uk or abroad, walked Hadrian's Wall two years ago. Would love to meet more liked minded people to share the beauty of uk countryside. Pub stops are equally important but I'm not adverse to the odd picnic! I look forward to hearing from you!

Male Walker, 56, based near Cardiff

Message: Hello out there, my name is Mike, I'm aged 56 and three quarters, have my own teeth and many original fittings. I'm looking for someone to share walks of all kinds but especially in the hills. I've been a walker for over 40 years and despite some dodgy knees and a slipped disc I can still manage a long day out, enjoy some light scrambling and I can use a map and compass. I usually walk solo but would enjoy some company now and again and at the end of the day perhaps a pie and a pint, or a cassoulet and claret, or a toastie and a cup of tea. Hopefully a walking partner will encourage me to get out more than I manage at the moment. I work full-time but can manage an occasional week day as well as weekends. I will be in the Lake District (staying near Patterdale) from 20-27 May and the Highlands (in Glen Nevis) from 10-17 June if anyone can manage it; short notice I know.

Message: Hi. . I'm Shona and I'm lucky enough to live close to the Northern Lake District. Looking for like minded people to walk with in the Lakes and would like try some Scottish hills and the Isles too if anyone can guide me! Like to keep a reasonable pace but no route marching please! Enjoy a cuppa and a chance to savour the view. Have done some of the main fells in the Lakes and getting to know the area slowly. Have done a wee bit of map reading . . . could do with more practice. Building fitness level again after a back problem which is now resolved. . . at the moment can manage up to grade 7. So if you fancy a wee blether with an infectious smile for company, let me know!

Male Walker, 57, based near Glasgow

Message: Hi. I always tell folks that I don't have a tick list of Munros, but. . . . . I enjoy walking in the hills, Scotland and Lakes, and really like finding new places - hence the Munros. Honestly. Happy to walk in all weathers; after all, if you aren't out there and the sun comes out, you have only yourself to blame. Summer, winter, autumn, spring, all seasons. My walking companion has had to take things easier, doctor's orders, so I am looking for someone who isn't going to sprint up the hills, but rather take time to enjoy, and to explore. We'll soon know if we match for speed. Weekends are best for me. Hope to hear from you. D

Female Walker, 53, based near Newcastle Upon Tyne

Message: Hi I'm a reasonably fit 50+ lady looking for walking companion(s) or a group of walkers in the North East of England. Just to get away from the same old home to work routine that goes on week after week. My partner thinks getting from A to B should be done by the quickest and fastest route possible. (Why walk when you can get there in a rocket!) Have previously done some walking/hiking in North Yorks and Lake District and Northumberland. I'm free most weekends, but would also like to organise a group walk for a few days. I know the weather's not great at the moment, but meeting up just to talk about organising walks could be fun and could be done over a couple of drinks in a warm friendly pub? If you fancy walking or talking about walking, get in touch.
