new Male Walker, 58, based near Southampton

Message: WANTED - PARTNER FOR PYRENEAN WALK FROM ATLANTIC TO MEDITERRANEAN. I'm Steve, an experienced walker looking for a m/f partner to share the above challenging hike with me in 2014, largely following the 500 mile route of the HRP (Haute Randonnee Pyreneenne). Expected duration is around 6 weeks, long enough to really enjoy the experience rather than treat it as a route march. Young or old, age is immaterial, and whilst physical fitness is desirable you don't need to be an athlete. Rather more important is mental toughness, determination and a personality compatible with mine. I live near Southampton but will consider potential partners anywhere in the country provided we can get in some practice walks together. If this is the kind of life-changing experience you have been looking for, pop me a line.

new Female Walker, 58, based near Southampton

Message: Hi, I'm Jane, 58 year old fittish female living in Southampton. I'm seeking likeminded walkers male or female with or without dogs to walk with two or three times a month, preferably at weekends. I have two male border collies. I walk approx. 3 miles a day during the winter and clock up more mileage in summer, mainly in country parks. I'd really like to spread my horizons and meet new walking buddies. I have excellent endurance, enjoy good conversation about anything and everything, and would like to explore new places and share new experiences with likeminded souls. I've graded myself at 1 to 4, not because I can't walk 10 miles a day, but because I don't have time to do this on a regular basis. I work Monday to Thursday, and enjoy a three day weekend. I'm up for pub lunches, coffee and cake or even a picnic. If you're local or further afield and think we may get along, I look forward to hearing from you.

Message: Hello, I'm looking for single female walking partner / companion / buddy (whatever you want to call it) who is as fed up with their own company as I am with mine. Currently not working so available for both weekend and weekday walking - day walks 8 -12 miles - varying degrees of difficulty. new Male Walker, 50, based near Berkeley

Message: I am a single man from Berkeley in Gloucestershire who loves walking, I mostly walk in the Cotswold's, Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and over to the Brecon Beacons. I am still interested in walking these areas but would also like to expand and go to Dartmoor, Exmoor and the Peak District for weekend jaunts. I think the Lake District and Snowdonia would be great to re-visit again for longer weekend or week breaks. I have been up Snowdon 3 times and never had a view but I have enjoyed the Welsh Oggie they sell in the Cafe. I plan to do Cadir Idris sometime in 2013. I have walked up the highest mountains in England, Scotland, Wales and both North and South of Ireland in recent years, quite fancy a trip to Skye sometime too and perhaps a good long week in Scotland. Oh, I also own a 3 person Canadain canoe and a Single Sit on Kayak but can't swim very well!! Paddy

new Male Walker, 62, based near Nth W Leicestershire

Message: Hi, I walk regularly in all weathers and though I like getting up somewhere reasonably high (love Tryfan) I'm happy walking the valleys and dales too. I walk to see what's there, not to tick it off and so don't believe it's necessary to do distance or height just for the sake of it. I also enjoy camping , windsurfing and occasional cycling. I'm outgoing, fit, dependable and a fairly competent navigator. I'm looking for someone of similar ilk but female to join me, age isn't important, but you must be a non smoker so if you would like to see more of our wonderful country and mix it with good company, lively conversation ( light hearted or serious ), plenty of laughter, and an after walk meal or drink then write. I'm free most weekends and occasional weekdays too. Chris

Female Walker, 47, based near Dorchester

Message: I've always enjoyed coastal walking and love the sea. I know and love the Dorset coast. It's beautiful at any time of the year. Although I've put mainly the South-West as my areas of interest for walking, I'd love to go further afield if I had company to walk with - singles or couples - I don't mind which. I work full-time but can arrange to walk at weekends or school holidays. I'm happy to try something a bit challenging rather than a gentle stroll and I'm handy with a map and compass. I've done a bit of orienteering in the past. Do get in touch if you might be interested :)

Message: Hi, I really enjoy walking but am generally too enthusiastic for most of my friends. I would like to meet a like minded walker to move me out of my comfort zone and support me to improve my fitness through regular, active walks (preferably involving a hill or two!) Biggest problem is that I live in Hampshire and obviously need to drive further afield to encounter any real altitude! Dorset coast is fabulous and only an hour away as indeed are the South Downs. Am interested in exploring further afield but would like opportunity to meet like-minded souls. I have been a walker off and on most of my life but would really love to move up a gear or two. Message: Hi, I am Sarah and I would like to find a walking companion. I am easy going, I love the countryside and all the wonderful things it has to offer and want to get out there to enjoy it. Although I am reasonably fit, I have not done much walking to date so I would like to do some shorter local walks to start off with to toughen up my feet and then extend the distance and the areas walked over time. Perhaps evening walks would be a possibility while the lighter evenings are here (although daytime walks are also fine). I like to appreciate the scenery and beauty around me when walking and would like to share this with a like minded person. Message: Slim, fit, cheerful and unconventional Worcestershire man with old cottage on Malvern Hills (ideal walking centre) seeks female companion for all kinds of low-budget walking adventures, long or short, anywhere in UK, from wild camping or bothying in the moors and mountains to finding geocaches along shores, canals and riverside paths. Possible cycle trips too (I have a Brompton folding bike). I'm a life member of both English Heritage and the YHA. Also like NT properties, morris dancing, ceilidhs, railways, board games and card games. Modest income from my publications about castles, churches, abbeys, ancient monuments and walking trails. My interests complement each other without dividing lines between work and leisure activities. Good navigator with 1:50, 000 maps for almost all of Britain Isles. I'm not tall, and not a particularly fast walker or cyclist. Male Walker, 36, based near Milford Haven

Message: Hi there, I've only recently signed up to this and though it looked like a great idea to find like-minded people that may wish to join me out and about someday. I'm 36, single and live / work in Pembrokeshire, West Wales. I've always been keen to explore the great outdoors, and I'm always up for new challenges, however until recently I probably haven't made as much of an effort as I should have done. The fact that most of my friends don't share my passion for the outdoors has restricted me to a certain degree but I've decided to put that right!! So, hopefully I'll find willing companions to enjoy an afternoon / weekend walk or challenge sometime, perhaps with the prospect of lunch afterwards, who knows??? Failing that, I'll head out alone - I've decided our great countryside has too uch to offer to simply let the chance go by If you're interested in joining me someday then I'd love to hear from you, and hope you'll get in touch before tooo long, thanks, Gregg

Male Walker, 53, based near Faringdon Oxon

Message: Hi, I'm Steve, 53, 5' 6' tall, medium build, easy going, searching for a female walking companion. My local stomping grounds are the Ridgeway and the Cotswolds but I prefer higher places like the Lake District, Brecons and Snowdonia where I go, time and finances allowing. I also like long walks on beaches, especially in winter. I like camping and would like to try wild camping. I'm a keen photographer too. I've tried groups but they aren't for me but whilst I'm happy enough with my own company, it would be nice to have a conversation, and to relive the day at a nice pub or teashop at the end of a day in the hills. I'm a reasonable navigator and have a GPS just in case! I'm happy walking in all weathers-it's not often that it rains all day!

Male Walker, 50, based near Didcot

Message: Hi, I am looking for a companion, male or female, who would enjoy some days out walking, it would have to be mostly at the weekends for me. I love being outdoors when I get the chance but would enjoy some good conversation too. I'm based in Oxfordshire and have reliable transport so I can travel a reasonable distance.
