Message: Hi, my name is Mike and I'm looking for a walking companion(s) to enjoy walks with. I have walked on my own and in groups before, but prefer walking with one or two people. I don't mind, long or short distances walking. I love to walk on the hills and in the mountains. My favourite spot is the long mynd. I would like to go further a field, to discover other areas? I'm not one of these who need to do a fast walk, I just like to get into the fresh air and enjoys take in the views, or even a few photo's. I'm based justo ff the M6 at junction 9 most people know IKEA. I'm easy going...... I like to have a chat and a laugh, but I'm also a good listener too. I've been told I've got a good sense of humor and I don't mind a bit of a banter if you like that sort of thing? I don't mind what the weather is doing, has long as there is somewhere for a cuppa (pub/cafe) at the end/middle of the walk. My average distance these days is between 8 and 15 miles I'm flexible with the distance and terrains. So if you want to walk with me on a regular basis or If you are at a lose end and fancy a walk why not get in touch. Cheers

Message: I live within an hour of the Peak District. I know it really well and love it, but equally love Wales, The Lakes and other parts too. I first got the walking bug whilst doing a charity walk in Snowdonia in 1998 (Crib Goch at 4 a.m.). I'm happy walking on hilltops and along valleys, canals, rivers and dales as well as mountain tops. I walk to chill and enjoy what's there, not to just race to the end, what would make my day complete though is some cheerful, like minded female company to share the views, some good conversation (serious or silly), laughter and after walk refreshments. I'm chilled, have a quick wit, great sense of humour and am good fun to walk with. I'm dependable too and, being an ex DofE assessor, I'm a fairly competent map reader. If you enjoy your walking and are interested in joining me I'd love to hear from you. I can promise you an enjoyable day out. Chris

Male Walker, 54, based near Hinckley, Leics

Message: Hi, my names Paul and I'm looking for someone who is adventurous, fun and would like to go on short or long hikes. Short country walks to a country pub for food and drinks are as much my cup of tea as are the more challenging long distance trails. I like taking photos and chatting with strangers along the way, generally having a laugh and enjoying the great outdoors. I'm currently trying my hand at landscape water colour painting if you can give me some tips? In return I can safely navigate you from A-B without fear of getting lost! I can go walking almost any day of the week as my work is flexible, although I have to work a lot of weekend dates so weekdays would be best. The Peak District is a big favourite of mine because it's close to home but love the Yorkshire Dales and the Lakes, but would walk anywhere new and interesting. Would be interested in walking in Italy as I've just got the guide books and it looks amazing! So if you'd like to have your own sherpa, tour guide and some fun along the way drop me a line

Message: Hi I'm Harry I love the great outdoors, long hikes and camping / wild camping. I am an experienced walker and navigator (Previously a Mountain Rescue team member). After 34 years firefighting I am now retired with lots of time on my hands. I am happy walking all year round. My favourite place in the world to hike is the Western Lake District (where I grew up) but living on the edge of the peak district I also enjoy days out there. I am also partial to days out in Snowdonia or the Yorks Dales. I usually walk alone but would welcome some like minded company for future walks. If you are interested in days out, wild camping or need a little help with navigation / hill skills then give me a shout.

Message: Hi, I'm Tim, 61, fit, active, lots of energy and stamina, looking for a female walking companion. Any age or ethnic origin is welcome, but I am an atheist, and there's not much point in us being too philosophically dissimilar. I live on the London/Kent border but have walked extensively in all areas of England and Wales and bits of Scotland (only the distance has kept me from doing more). Have walked most hills in the Lake District and Snowdonia and nearly all the national trails and many others. I love the UK coast and am always ready to walk any part of it, as well as local paths such as the North Downs Way and South Downs Way. In fact, I'll walk anywhere and at any time - it's what I love to do. Hopefully I'm well-rounded and I also love music, books, maps, nature, history, buildings, etc. Friends have said that I'm funny, kind, intelligent, sensitive, a good conversationalist - still, what do they know? Any companion would hopefully soon be a friend but I'm very open for this to develop into a girlfriend/soulmate/life partner situation. And if it doesn't there'd still be a good walking friendship. If any of this appeals I'd love to hear from you.

Message: Hi, I'm Adrian, single, retired, fit, and keen to meet an active fit female walking companion to explore our beautiful islands, and further afield. I have a camper van to tour and also to use as a mobile base for circular and linear walks, perhaps on classic long distance national trails. I enjoy all types of walks both short and full day walks and long distance. On the latter I prefer to complete the walk in one go rather than spread over weeks, months or year. I have completed a number of classic long distance paths including The Pennine Way and Wainwrights Coast to Coast, but I'm not against doing these again if my companion wished to do them. Not so good on heights these days so I avoid walking on high level narrow ledges. I am a vegetarian who eats fish, non competitive nature, passionate about our natural world, fun loving, often quirky. Other interests include camping, cycling, casual nature walks, am NT and RSPB member, conservation volunteering, reading, eclectic taste in music, art cinema, theatre, the arts, wildlife gardening and DIY. Am politically a bit of a lefty. If any of this appeals, please get in touch.

Message: Who doesn't love getting out in to the hills?! The usual places for me tend to be the Peaks, Lakes, Snowdonia or Scotland (especially the Cairngorms) but Scotland is such a loooooong drive away. I love cycling day to day, mostly road riding but also enjoy some gentle blue route mountain biking as well. I sometimes feel adventurous and try the red but am a bit technically inept :/ I started a new chapter in my life in Sep 2015 by heading back to Uni. Its been great fun and i am particularly excited about the chance I'll get to spend my summer weeks exploring the hills again. No preference to male or female companionship although i work weekends so am looking for regular company Mon - Fri (or occassionally a week or two away further afield when my timetable allows) and also people who don't mind dogs as mine goes everywhere with me. I also prefer walking with 1 or 2 people at a time. Tried the group walking and its just not for me. Hope to hear from all you fellow adventurers soon!

Message: Hi all fellow walkers! I'm a 32 year old single male looking for male or female walkers and hiking buddies to explore the local region, notably the Peak District, Parts of Wales such as the Brecon Beacons or Snowdonia and the Lakes and Beyond in the Scottish Highlands. I'm reasonably fit and active, as I run or cycle often, and have done a touch of scrambling in Wales. I'm relatively new to it all, so by no means super experienced, but I'd love to share and learn from other walkers and individuals and go and explore what the great outdoors has to offer! I can navigate ( in basic terms!) and I own a trusty walking GPS along with all mapping paraphernalia. If you'd like to meet a fun, young, fit and open minded give-it-a-go walker who will attempt anything at least once (despite my fear of heights!) then I look forward to hearing from you!

Message: Hello My name is Terri I'm new to this site and looking for new walking friends as most of my friends have now lost motivation. I am a life long walker and cannot imagine life without walking! I live in lovely Ludlow and know the Shropshire Hills very well. I walk often in the Peak District, the Brecon Beacons and Wales all of which are within striking distance of here. I have family in France so also walk regularly in Europe particularly in the French and Spanish Pyrennees and next year have planned to do the camino from St. Jean de Luz. I am no longer working full time but am nowhere near ready to slow down. This means I have time to travel and enjoy new walking opportunities as well as make new friends who like me, love the great outdoors. Please contact me if you would like to walk with me either in the UK or Europe. Bon Voyage! Terri

I'm out most weekends walking or mountain biking so I'm reasonably fit but I say that in the loosest of terms!. I also love camping so happy to go away for a camping/walking weekend. I have three dogs all Cavalier King Charles Spaniels which i would like to take walking with me (not on the harder routes though) so if you have a dog or don't mind fury animals then I would love to hear from you whether it be a lazy stroll or something a bit more energetic!.

Female Walker, 44, based near Solihull

Message: I currently live in Solihull, and would like to walk more than I currently do - I spend far too much time sitting on the sofa just thinking about places I'd like to go to. I'm only looking for friends, either for local walks or further away - I'm currently working my way through the Wainwrights and am up to 77, I think - so I'm particularly interested in fell walking friends. I don't consider myself a particularly experienced or confident walker, but can read a map and feel happy to be out in the fells on my own - I do most of my walking alone at the moment. I love nature and wildlife - and am often behind a camera when I'm not walking. I'm vegan, so perhaps not the right choice of walking partner if you're wanting to go for a Sunday roast afterwards. (Although I believe a beer is an essential post walk ritual). I love dogs, and although I don't have a dog myself, would be delighted to walk with one - or several. I'm a teacher, and it would be particularly good to meet others who are looking to walk in the holidays.

Male Walker, 55, based near Worcestershire

Message: Hello, my name is Alex, I am a well spoken, well educated male, fit, slim, single, 55 year old, living in a beautiful, rural area of Worcestershire. I received an email a couple of years ago from a chum who was backpacking his way around New Zealand, and he was encouraging me to get off my bottom, see more of this island, and perhaps join a walking club. . . . so here I am! In February 2016 I had a major operation, but all is well now thankfully. Initially, I would like to gently ease my way back into walking, until full fitness is restored. I regularly used to walk the Malvern Hills, all through the Cotswolds, and have done many, many miles in the West of Ireland when I lived there. I still want to walk my regular walks, but now I have a mind to cast my net wider, in search of some fresh challenges and experiences. My ideal companion who I would like to join me? Female, slim, bright, optimistic, good company, has a sense of direction (as my map reading ability is very rusty). Someone who would be happy to have a few well deserved drinks and a pub meal at the end of the day. I no longer have a dog, so if you do happen to have a four-legged friend who loves the outdoor life, and who of course loves me too, then even better. I have plenty of time on my hands, during the week and at weekends, and I drive, so if you are looking for some genial and intelligent company along the way, perhaps we should make a plan.

Female Walker, 50, based near Shrewsbury

Message: Whether a gentle stroll or a challenging trekking holiday, I'm always keen to pull on my walking boots and head off to places best seen on foot. I discovered the joys of walking whilst training for the London Moonwalk in 2007, and since then I've covered many miles in the UK, including Hadrian's Wall and climbing Snowdon, Ben Nevis and Scafell (although not all in one day) I've also spent a week walking in the beautiful french Pyrenees and completed two trekking holidays - in Kerala and to Everest Base Camp, both incredible experiences, and I'd love to do more e. g. Machu Picchu. My other passion is skiing, and I've recently returned to the UK having taken a short career break to work in the french Alps last winter (the oldest chalet maid in town!) Now back behind a desk full time - suffering 'cabin fever' - I'm keen to get out walking as much as possible at weekends, please get in touch if you'd like to join me.

Female Walker, 32, based near Shrewsbury

Message: I am looking for a walking companion around the same age, male or female, to accompany me and my 2 border collies on a walk every now and then. My family and friends used to join me on walks, but they are all so busy it's hard to arrange a time when we are all free. I don't enjoy really long walks, I prefer shorter walks with beautiful scenery or wildlife to look at on the way (or a nice pub at the end!) I like discovering new and interesting walks. That's not to say I never visit the same place twice, but where possible I will find an alternative route around, to make the same walk slightly different. I run a dog training centre near Shrewsbury which keeps me busy most days, especially at weekends. However I don't work full-time hours and usually have time off during the week. This is when I am more likely to be free for walks. I sometimes go away for training seminars, so could potentially walk in other areas of the country if it fits in with one of my trips. In a walking companion I am looking for an honest (but not boring), kind, optimistic person who enjoys life (in moderation), can hold their own in a conversation and can have a laugh. If this is too much to ask then a mixture of the above would also be good! Thanks for reading
