Message: I live within an hour of the Peak District. I know it really well and love it, but equally love Wales, The Lakes and other parts too. I first got the walking bug whilst doing a charity walk in Snowdonia in 1998 (Crib Goch at 4 a.m.). I'm happy walking on hilltops and along valleys, canals, rivers and dales as well as mountain tops. I walk to chill and enjoy what's there, not to just race to the end, what would make my day complete though is some cheerful, like minded female company to share the views, some good conversation (serious or silly), laughter and after walk refreshments. I'm chilled, have a quick wit, great sense of humour and am good fun to walk with. I'm dependable too and, being an ex DofE assessor, I'm a fairly competent map reader. If you enjoy your walking and are interested in joining me I'd love to hear from you. I can promise you an enjoyable day out. Chris

Message: Looking for a walking partner/partners to do Greensand Way next year. Also: Life is for living! Friendly lady looking for walking partners male or female - especially for Northumberland region where she has two 'home from home' bases to use. Loves the Northumbrian coast, its castles and sandy beaches. However is also interested in Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria. Travels abroad in Europe for walking and would like a companion for that. Has own car and is happy to be flexible with transport. Wide range of walking, travel and other interests. Not a boring companion by any means - interested in many topics of conversation. Also a 'bon viveur'! Best wishes - Sheila

Message: Hi I'm Harry I love the great outdoors, long hikes and camping / wild camping. I am an experienced walker and navigator (Previously a Mountain Rescue team member). After 34 years firefighting I am now retired with lots of time on my hands. I am happy walking all year round. My favourite place in the world to hike is the Western Lake District (where I grew up) but living on the edge of the peak district I also enjoy days out there. I am also partial to days out in Snowdonia or the Yorks Dales. I usually walk alone but would welcome some like minded company for future walks. If you are interested in days out, wild camping or need a little help with navigation / hill skills then give me a shout.

Male Walker, 61, based near Belvedere

Message: Hi, I'm Tim, 61, fit, active, lots of energy and stamina, looking for a female walking companion. Any age or ethnic origin is welcome, but I am an atheist, and there's not much point in us being too philosophically dissimilar. I live on the London/Kent border but have walked extensively in all areas of England and Wales and bits of Scotland (only the distance has kept me from doing more). Have walked most hills in the Lake District and Snowdonia and nearly all the national trails and many others. I love the UK coast and am always ready to walk any part of it, as well as local paths such as the North Downs Way and South Downs Way. In fact, I'll walk anywhere and at any time - it's what I love to do. Hopefully I'm well-rounded and I also love music, books, maps, nature, history, buildings, etc. Friends have said that I'm funny, kind, intelligent, sensitive, a good conversationalist - still, what do they know? Any companion would hopefully soon be a friend but I'm very open for this to develop into a girlfriend/soulmate/life partner situation. And if it doesn't there'd still be a good walking friendship. If any of this appeals I'd love to hear from you.

Message: Hi there, I'm lover of nature and my ideal day is a scenic walk and prefer an amble rather than fast pace ramble so can take it all in. Good map readers especially welcome as I was last in the queue when 'senses of direction' were handed out! Im free most weekends and sometimes mid week. If anyone local, early evening walks on the long days of spring/summer (british weather permitting)!

Message: Hi My name is Alex and I have rejoined the site to meet new friends/fellow walkers. I've been a bit idle with regards to 'boots on walking' so need time to pick up the pace a bit! Having said that i'm quite fit, not without humour and don't mind travelling (within reason) to meet up. Packed lunch or pub lunch suits me. My map reading skills are a bit hit and miss but I don't mind being guided. I know there are some lovely people on this site because I met up with 'A' over 5yrs ago and we are still friends so here's to more...

Message: Hi. . great website! I moved up to County Durham in 2010 because of work and previous love of the scenery. I did Pennine Way 30 years ago (and love revisiting bits of it), the Dales Way, WHW, Great Glen Way, Dava Way, Isaac's Tea Trail. I've enjoyed regular walking times in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales, Scottish Highlands, the Borders and Northumberland. Although I'd like to walk C2C sometime too, shorter circular walks are just as appealing. Thanks to other walkers on this site I recently completed my first Cheviot Challenge and another for Teesdale/Weardale Mountain Rescue. I enjoyed the 2014 Hadrians Wall Trekathon and raised over 500 for Macmillan Cancer Support. I don't have a dog to growl at you but would always prefer company to share the time with. I love to talk and walk and enjoy the views all along the way. Am free many weekends (when not being musical) and am looking forward to hearing from you. Happy 2017!! Andy

Female Walker, 56, based near Crook, Co Durham

Message: Hi everyone, this is the first time I have used this message board or anything like it so I am not exactly sure what to put. I am 56 coming up 57 and am on my own. As for the graded walks I am not sure, but I like to walk the hills in the Lake District and equally like a low level walk through the valleys. I don't like to start a walk when it's pouring down, but have got caught in the rain many a time whilst out. I've ticked a few of the boxes regards where I would like to walk but would be glad to go anywhere where there is countryside, woods etc. I would be glad to here from anyone, male or female with similar interests. If anyone would like anymore information please contact me any time.

Message: Hi, I've not been on this site for some time & whilst I currently do a bit of walking with another lady I met on here quite a while ago, I have more free time now & thought it would be nice to meet up with others who share my love of fresh air, the outdoors & our wonderful coast & countryside. I'm reasonably fit, happy to walk up to 10 miles, but pretty poor at map reading so walking with someone that knows where they are going would be good! I can walk most weekends & some days during the week, I have transport so can meet up. If anyone's interested in chatting & having a few laugh while enjoying a good walk plus some form of 'watering hole' at the end of it then just get in touch, look forward to hearing from you!

Male Walker, 36, based near Cumbria

Message: Hi, I'm Rob, 36 and looking to meet a likeminded female or just make new friends. I live in West Cumbria, so I'm lucky to have the Cumbrian fells and coastline on my doorstep. I am trying to get back to what I love most, the great outdoors, after going through separation. In the past I have done several long distance walks, but really just enjoy all aspects of walking long or short. I am keen to find someone to share the adventures that come with walking, as a shared adventure is always more fun. Obviously the Lake District is my usual area for walking, but I am willing to travel having also explored Northumberland, Snowdonia, North Yorkshire and the Scottish Highlands in the past. More than anything it's about sharing these experiences with someone who had the same appreciation for the outdoors, to go for a walk, chat, have a laugh and hopefully click with. If they are interested in food and drink after a walk, then even better.

Message: Hello there , I am looking for company - preferably male so he can help carry the picnic- to walk in North Yorkshire or the Lake District at weekends. I drive a desk all week so only escape for weekends and holidays. In recent years my walking has mostly been in the Lakes( I have managed a few Wainwrights although for me it's more about enjoying the fresh air and scenery than ticking the boxes) but would like to see more of the North Yorkshire moors and the Dales as they are closer to my home on Teesside but I realise I do not make the most of them! If any of this strikes a chord please drop me a line :) T

Male Walker, 48, based near N.E Lincolnshire

Message: Looking for someone to share a walk with, most distance , pace and terrain.Have been talked into walking the Camino De Santiago across Spain for a second time 2016, having done it in 2012, so need to get out and build my fitness up again.Really I'm looking for regular walking buddies to share the experience and fun with, however if the right person literally walks into my life then that is great too.I love the outdoors and try and get out as much as possible, often with the rabid mutt ,my little crazy dog. When not working , walking or dreaming ,I can be found painting or crafting , so the odd visit to a art gallery ,craft show or theatre/concert is also a passion for me.Love music of many genres and Love to laugh and seek the funnier things in life, also the simple things, a good sunset , open fire or even the odd night under the stars cooking with good company and good food.I have lived a life of many adventures and changes and still have more to explore, quite a gypsy heart at times , slowly settling down a little , would like to share the next adventure with someone preferably. I am pretty flexible with work, can be available most weekends and sometimes week days. Don't mind a good hard walk as a training day but do also love a steady stroll to take in the scenery and the sounds. Walking to me is many things. a time to think , a time to push myself , a time to get away from the madness of the other world , a time to be alone or most importantly a time to share with people of many paths in life. At the moment I'm in Lincolnshire but looking at moving south next year, Somerset , Devon , Cornwall direction so heading down that way soon for a recce and maybe the odd walk or two, if anyone down that way cares to join me for a walk or has some suggestions that would be great.

I've been doing a lot of walking on my own over the last couple of years which, although I enjoy (it gives me thinking space), I'd like someone to share the views with and possibly a pub/tea stop afterwards. So I'm looking for a walking partner - preferably male as I enjoy male company. I love Yorkshire and visit every couple of months - having friends and relatives in the Huddersfield, Wakefield and York areas. I've got my own transport so don't mind travelling to get to a good walk. I'm just as happy doing a couple of miles stroll as I am longer distances. I walked The Cleveland Way last year covering around 10 to 15 miles a day and staying at pubs and B and B's en route and have also (a while ago) walked the Thames path and the Isle of Wight coast path. I love hills/mountains but take them at a steady pace with time for a breather every so often!. I've done Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike but could barely see anything from the top so wouldn't mind doing them again sometime soon and I've done Snowdon 3 times - every time in good weather! Most of my walking is done at weekends as I work full time during the week but could take a day off midweek if I plan ahead. I'd like to do more long distance paths in the future, possibly Hadrian's Wall and the West Highland Way. If you're interested in getting together for a walk please get in touch. I'm happy with distances up to around 15 miles or so. Look forward to hearing from you!
