new Male Walker, 55, based near Ipswich

Message: Hi, I'm Kevan and I live in Suffolk. I am now able walk long weekends and school holidays. I am keen to return to activities of my more youthful days, especially wild camping, although hostels are fine too. I'd also like to swim in streams and lakes in remote places as well! I'm looking to walk in Wales, Scotland and the north of England. A trip to Switzerland, Germany or Austria is also on the agenda. My children are grown up and my partner is not very keen on longer hikes.

Male Walker, 53, based near Epsom

Message: Hello I am hoping to meet other walker/s for company and also expand my walking horizons as I have tended to stick to local areas / walks I know. I have however undertaken independent treks in Australia, Nepal, Tibet & Pakistan. The length and type of walk is not normally an issue but am at present regaining fitness after an injury so 6 to 8 miles would be prudent. Arranging walks in advance means I can walk during the week as well at weekend. I am based near Epsom Surrey and am willing and able to travel further a field. I look forward to hearing from you Steve I am looking to get out walking again after a period of enforced inactivity. Not an experienced walker but in my twenties undertook treks in Nepal, Tibet & Australia. Willing to travel within reason so travelling does not detract from a walk. Look forward to hearing from you Steve

Female Walker, 55, based near Watford

Message: My name's Kathy and walking is really important to me as it gives my life perspective. When I'm out in the countryside or mountains, everything becomes more manageable just through the natural beauty around me. The places I've stipulated are more familiar ones, but I like exploring as well. I've also loved walking on Majorca and in Bosnia. I visit Cumbria often, renting a cottage and planning walks for the week. I recently spent a few days in the Cotswolds, much tamer but only two hours away, so great for a quick getaway. Please get in touch if you'd like to try a walk - I'm a teacher, so have lots of time in the holidays and on light summer evenings. as well as weekends. As I need to develop my map-reading skills, confident navigators are welcome!

Message: Hello, I am looking for a walking partner and would be interested hearing from a likeminded person. I am, I am afraid, a gentleman walker who perfers to stay in hotels or b&b rather than sleeping under canvas. I have done the Coast to Coast, West Highland Way, The Cleveland Way and loads of various long walks. I like to walk any distance be it short or long no matter the weather. . . . Dave

Message: Hi, Love being outdoors, love walking and being in nature. I'm looking and hoping for company on a few walks.Walked the Camino de Santiago this year and need to get out on a few more distant walks, all walks considered long or short and will travel to most destinations. Don't mind walking with groups or individuals . Happy to share with dogs as I have one of my own but she is too old and a little lazy these days so can't take her with me. Can go most days unless I'm away working but pretty flexible. Happy to do full weekends and not too past it to camp wild if required but very happy in a Guest house or hostel. I'm reasonably fit as I train most days and practice martial arts too so most paces ok with me as long as now and again we can have a stroll and take in some scenery my marathon running days are sadly over. Look forward to meeting anybody who would like to join me. and happy for me to join them.

Male Walker, 70, based near Palmers Green

Message: Hello I am a weekend rambler (10 to 12 miles usually) and occasional long distance trail walker. I'm interested in exploring new areas as well as the Home Counties where I sometimes lead walks for a club. I am quite fit for my age and trying to remain so. I live in a North London suburb with my daughter. I worked until recently; now semi-retired, I have more time for walking and would like to have a companion on some of the reconnaissance walks I do. Several of my long-established friends have moved away, hence this appeal. Two drawbacks to note: (a) I don't drive and (b) I'm active in Labour and Co-operative politics (though I don't go on about it). I've recently taken up urban as well as country walking, linking with architectural interests. I do voluntary work as trustee of a countryside conservation organisation and an historic house trust in addition to some neighbourhood commitments in north London.

Female Walker, 65, based near Halstead

Message: I live in North Essex and initially would like a companion for coastal walking in Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk but with opportunities to go further afield and up into the hills in the future. I prefer ambling to route marches as I love looking at the scenery, plants, rocks, wild life etc. as I go. I'm trying to improve my map reading skills as my sense of direction is virtually non-existant (one reason it's good to walk on the coast!) so if planning and map reading are your strengths I'm willing to exploit them.

Message: Hi Folks: My name is Kev, i live near Kings Lynn in that well known mountaineering county of Norfolk! I am an experienced hill walker, Ex RAF, so not bad at Navigation. I am a bit of a 'Munroist' and have now climbed over 70 of these large Scottish mountains. I regularly walk in Snowdonia and try to get up to Scotland at least twice a year. My long term walking partner has decided to give up on the sport, and I would really like some company on my walks. I also love cycling, especially cycle touring. Message: A few of us (mixed group, ages 40 to mid 50s have been walking for the past couple of years - We started off as a group partly from this website - there were about 12, but now have dwindled due to people moving house, getting partners etc etc, so thought it would be good to look for a few more people who might like to join us from time to time: Do you want to meet us for a walk and see what you think? Different people turn up at different walks - we are very casual about it all, and tend to walk for about 3 ish hours on a Sunday, then follow it by lunch in a pub. approx every 6- 8 weeks. . . Some of us go on longer walks from time to time. . . We live in Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, and so tend to walk in any of those places, or in between. Male Walker, 61, based near Hitchin

Message: Hi, I'm Ian, I live on the Herts/Beds border and like to walk at weekends in surrounding counties and would enjoy some female company along the way. I am 61, reasonably fit and like walks of about 8 to 12 miles, more on the flat but less if it's steep. I have mostly been walking solo which can be extremely rewarding , but not always. My walks almost always include a pub stop for a pint and a meal. Although most of my walks are local I do join with a group from work occasionally for a change; this year we spent a long weekend in Brecon Beacons, next year probably the Isle of Man. I have started on the Icknield Way long distance path which I am doing in about 10 mile stages whenever the fancy takes me. If any of you female walkers out there would like a companion, please drop me a line.

Message: I'm an outdoor sort of guy, been involved in walking and running most of my life. I live in Suffolk which believe it or does have some wonderful country side and coast.
