Message: Hi there, Im a single woman from North Yorkshire and wanting to meet female and or male walkers so we can walk regularly. I am a beginner and Im hoping to find experienced walkers who will show me the ropes etc as well as wanting to walk in various places. I cant read maps yet but have the correct equipement and lots of enthusiasm. I have just been on holiday to Cumbria and now know I dont want to climb mountains or walk in the more exposed areas i prefer more rolling countryside. I did the Wordsworth walk which was perfect for me moderately taxing and not too high, I also walked at Malham recently and loved that. So if your interested please leave me a message. Thank you for reading this and hope to hear from you very soon.

new Female Walker, 37, based near Keighley

Message: Hiya, I'm looking for walking friends, male or female, who want to get out and about locally and possibly further afield. I enjoy walking round The Yorkshire Moors, into The Dales, Forest of Bowland and Pendle. I'm a fairly experienced walker and a good navigator. I'm not into bagging or walking for the sake of it; I like to enjoy the walk and the experience. I enjoy anything from a 4 mile amble to about 14 miles in a day. I've done the Bronte Round (23 miles) over two days and The Bradford Millennium Way (46 miles) over 4 days. I like to finish off a good walk with a visit to a pub or café or a look around the local towns or villages. I quite often have time off in the week but also have some weekends off too. I'm a flexible, easy going person who can talk about a wide range of things. Give me a shout if you'd like to go for a walk!

new Male Walker, 48, based near Harrogate

Message: Hi, I'm Tony and my great passion is the British countryside and wildlife. I love walking in the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District and North York Moors. I used to play rugby, football and basketball, but advancing years have now restricted my sporting activities to gentler pastimes such as golf, darts and snooker. The two things at the top of my 'bucket list' (I HATE that expression!) are to climb all the Wainwrights and to see a full Ring Cycle (two down, two to go, with number 3 this July). I would like to explore Wales, Scotland and Ireland and have been bitten by the multi-day walking bug, having done The Tabular Hills, Dales Way and Coast to Coast walks, and would love to do more.

new Female Walker, 37, based near Lancaster

Message: Hi - My name is Claire (37yrs) single and live in the Lancaster area. I'm relatively new to walking and would very much like to continue particularly in the Lakes. I don't always have a walking buddy as most of my friends don't enjoy walking up hills! Therefore I would appreciate some male/female company. It's not much fun walking on your own. I'm fairly fit and love being outdoors when I have the chance. I would also appreciate walking with someone who has good sense of direction and map reading skills. Perhaps you could teach me! I believe that walking is all about getting out in the fresh air, enjoying the views, but should also include having a laugh and maybe a few beers afterwards. Perfect.

Box: 101683

new Male Walker, 43, based near Leeds

Message: I first started walking about six years ago & really started to enjoy myself right from the start. I don't mind short one day walks, but always prefer when possible to do a full weekend or longer multi day walk when ever i get the chance. Never use B&B unless I'm forced - always preferring instead to use either hostels & bunk barns when available as I find them much more friendly places & far better value for money. I always give myself the option of camping on walks so always carry full eqp't when I'm away - quite happy to both wild camp & walk in all weather conditions too. Over the years I've always walked alone as I find this allows me to use my good map reading skills to plan my own routes & walk at my own pace. Although you meet others while walking it still tends to get a bit boring sometimes & i often wish I'd someone else to chat to. I tried group walking about 18 months ago & although its very friendly I don't think it's quite what I'm looking for. I'd like to get to meet another walker - preferably a female of around the same age & ability, who's also into my style of walking & who also has quite a lot of spare time on their hands. Due to carrying all this kit I'm not looking for the kind of walks where you've got to go racing up a steep mountain side like a bionic rat up a drain pipe! only to give yourself cardiac arrest - no fun in that!!! Trying to get a photo on here at the moment too, but having problems - give it another try.

new Female Walker, 43, based near Blackpool

Message: Hi, my name is Carol. Hoping to find people who love disappearing into the middle of nowhere. . . which isn't always as far away as you think!!! I don't mind wind and rain, so long as there is a hot shower, a long drink, good food and good company at the end of the day. I usually go for one day walks, but happy with any length, would like to get into a full weekend, so if you own and know how to pitch a tent thats a plus. My son occasionally joins me, but I would relish the adult company. I try to get out most weekends and at least one weekday a month, when I can guarantee to be child free. So if anybody is interested feel free to get in touch.

Message: Hi I have enjoyed walking for many years mostly in the Lake District but have walked in the Yorkshire Dales, Scotland, Wales, a little in Ireland and Spain and love long distance walks like The West Highland Way. Though I don't mind being on the fells alone I so much more enjoy a chat on the way. I walk with friends but am looking for some good company to enjoy a walk maybe a meal and drink at the end of a long day and maybe share other interests. Now my children have grown and left to make their own lives I am happy to walk anywhere and love visiting new place, meeting new people and having new challanges.

Message: Hi Moved back to the Lakes a couple of years ago. Have walking friends but not always available when I am, or they are 'fair weather' walkers. I now write a blog about my walks so tend to be out in all weathers. Really love the hills and mountains anywhere, but Cumbria and Dales are very local to me. I have a small dog who follows me most places and is very well behaved. I realised a few weeks ago I had done over half the Wainwrights without thinking about it, so I am now on a bit of a mission. Love to 'talk and walk' so good companion also essential and someone who is not too worried if I stop to take photos. I am well-travelled, reasonably read and eco-friendly, if you think you would enjoy my company would love to hear from you. Alvina

new Male Walker, 62, based near Nth W Leicestershire

Message: Hi, I walk regularly in all weathers and though I like getting up somewhere reasonably high (love Tryfan) I'm happy walking the valleys and dales too. I walk to see what's there, not to tick it off and so don't believe it's necessary to do distance or height just for the sake of it. I also enjoy camping , windsurfing and occasional cycling. I'm outgoing, fit, dependable and a fairly competent navigator. I'm looking for someone of similar ilk but female to join me, age isn't important, but you must be a non smoker so if you would like to see more of our wonderful country and mix it with good company, lively conversation ( light hearted or serious ), plenty of laughter, and an after walk meal or drink then write. I'm free most weekends and occasional weekdays too. Chris

Message: Hi - am 40, happily married and living in the Bolton area. . . so not looking for romance! Am relatively fit and active and looking to build walking fitness so I can do some long distance walking next year. Thinking nice intermediate fells in Lakes rather than full on peaks in the mist, ice and rain. Have some basic map reading skills but anyone who knows more than me would be welcome! Message: Hi I am not quite sure how to grade the walks that I am interested in. I have completed the Camino in Northern Spain but that doesn't involve that much climbing! I've also done the middle 4 days of Hadrians Wall. However I haven't done much walking over the last twelve months and would like to get out and about a bit more. The dog is in her 13th year and is no longer up for long walks. I love being outdoors, walking in great scenery and in good company that would be even better. I haven't navigated much and walking is one of the few areas of life that I am happy to follow in a sheep-like manner! I am quite well-travelled but very down to earth and would be happy to chat about many things in addition to walking in companionable silence, at times. A meal and a glass of something nice at the end of a days walking would be great. I am in a walking group and go on around 8 mile walks at present but to meet a male companion who enjoys walking would be the icing on the cake. I am based in Mellor in my native Lancashire and look forward to hearing from you. I have no ties and am free most weekends.

Female Walker, 45, based near Liverpool

Message: Hi my name is Lee, and I live Liverpool. I have decided to update this message as I have walked quite a few routes now thanks to a very good mate Tom who I met through this site. We tend to walk every other weekend, which in the winter is probably enough. I say that after us doing Hellvelyn in the freezing cold. I may want to try to do a little more in the Summer. For me as much as I love walking but I also love admiring the view, maybe sneak in a little bit of rest while having a chat and a laugh. I'm a Mum but my son is now 15 and I am very much surplus to requirements. The day has come to soon but I have to accept the fact that I have been dumped for his mates. I do have friends but they are really not interested in the idea of walking, not sure why. The downside is I dont drive so would need to be able to get to the walks via public transport. So if I can get there via a train it's ideal. If you are interested in helping me out, drop me a line x

Message: Hi I've joined this site in a hope to find some new friends to have fun with and share some nice days out walking. I'm originally from Scotland but moved to South Cheshire a few years ago so fairly new to the place & looking to explore. I have done a bit of hill walking in the past but like everything else you get lazy so I'm looking to use this as an excuse to get fit again because I'd really like to do the 3 peaks challenge. I have three dogs all Cavalier King Charles Spaniels which i would like to take walking with me (not on the harder routes though) so if you have a dog or don't mind fury animals then I would love to hear from you whether it be a lazy stroll or something a bit more energetic!.

Message: Hi all. . New to the site and looking to arrange regular walks at weekends and potentially walking holidays etc I have not been walking for a while, used to wander around the cairngorms as a youth but since moving to england I havent really had the time until now to do much. Im raring to go now though and need to get a few walks organised to ease myself back in gently. Not looking for anything too taxing to start with but hope to build up to do something more adventurous in due course Forest walking has always been my favourite and am looking forward to exploring the options for that down here. . I am more than happy to travel anywhere really and to try any kind of walking in any environment. My main reason for getting into walking is to get back to a good level of fitness, allied to that of course I love being in the outdoors and meeting new people. . hence the reason for joining up here I would consider myself to be fun and spontaneous with a desire to explore and go on little adventures. . come and say hello and hopefully we can organise something

I've only just joined go for a walk because of its good reviews and because of the message board as I see it as a good point to meeting like minded people. I look forward to any replies to this message. Regards Neil
