A bit more about me:

I quite enjoy Scrambling & Edges but don't like too much exposure. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Back Packing - Multi-day walks carrying all your gear & wild camping;
  • Road Cycling

Important: For the avoidence of doubt I am definitely not looking for anything other than someone to go walking with.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Wallasey

My Message: Hi I'm Dave a 65 year old male looking for a female walking companion. I live on the Wirral and generally walk in Wales, the Northern fells (Yorkshire & Cumbria) and Scotland. I completed the Munros a quite few years ago and am gradually working my way through other hill lists. I head up to Scotland regularly and have a cottage near Torridon. Happy to do some low level walks, but prefer to gain some height for the views and exercise. Fairly fit and prefer to keep a steady pace, stopping to look at the scenery and wildlife, but can crack on when needed. Most of the walks I do are grade 5-9+. Have a car and drive a lot! Generally walk at weekends, but can walk mid-week as I am retired, though I do spend time on other hobbies such as DIY, cooking and underground exploration. Good sense of direction and can navigate reliably in difficult conditions. Easy going with a sense of humour and enjoy conversation. Like to visit a pub afterwards for a drink. If you are interesting in joining me then please get in touch.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Nottingham

My Message: I live South of the Peak District. I know it really well and love it, but equally love walking in Wales, The Lakes, Yorkshire, Northumbria and other parts too. I first got the walking bug whilst doing a charity walk in Snowdonia in 1998 (Crib Goch at 4 a.m.). I'm happy walking on hilltops and along valleys, canals, rivers and dales as well as mountain tops. I walk to chill and enjoy what's there, not to just race to the end, what would make my day complete though is some good company to share the views, some good conversation (serious or silly), laughter and after walk refreshments. I'm chilled, have a quick wit and great sense of humour. My other interests are landscape photography, art and the theatre. I'm vegetarian ( you don't have to be) and a good cook though do enjoy dining out too. If you enjoy your walking and are interested in joining me, get in touch. Chris

My Message: Hi I'm Neil, I'm a 53 year old male, I have completed the 214 Wainwrights twice and the 116 Outlying Fells and love nothing more than been out in the Lake District in all weathers. I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Bath

My Message: In 2016 I almost did the John Muir Trail in California but couldn't complete it having fallen badly and damaged a knee. To do the JMT I had to do a lot of training mostly in Wales carrying weight. In 2018, I'm booked to do it again, starting my training shortly. I am looking for a partner(s) to join in some of the training with me who doesn't mind some wild camping and a bit of adventure. Unfortunately, none of my friends have the time to join me. I am experienced with the hills and mountains of the UK having climbed most major peaks in all weathers. Pretty good navigator and I am fit for my age but not a fast walker, more a speedy plodder. I love the outdoors and mountains especially. I mainly walk at weekends as I work but can stretch to long weekends. Just been hiking in the Bavarian Alps - lovely place. Thanks, Andrew

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Brighton

My Message: White male aged 66, 40 years walking experience, living in Sussex, fit and friendly seeks to meet a male walking companion aged about 50+ for walking local and national trails together in the UK and in Europe. Explore the hidden and interesting bye ways of Britain, sleep out during the summer and enjoy a few beers at the end of a days challenging walking.

Probably suitable for someone living in London or the South-East but, but if practicable, I would not exclude other contacts from around the country. Most important is the love of the countryside, coastal paths and Highlands of Scotland, quiet places and friendly conversation.

My Message: Hi my name is Anne. I am 60 looking for walking companions for either day/weekend/week walks. Not so keen on camping, prefer B&B, Youth Hostel or similar, what a wimp! I like to go at a steady plod. . . . short or longer walks. I look forward to hearing from you. . .

I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near Burntwood

My Message: Hi Ive been a member of this site for sometime and am just returning to it from a long absence. I particularly enjoy walking and camping in the Peak District and the Brecon Beacons. I was in the military for a long time so enjoy all levels of gradient and am up for a challenge, most of the time. I love to take my dogs with me when I walk although the border terrier (Laughing Gravy) is getting a little old now. I'm out of the UK a lot and so finding friends to walk with can be difficult. I hope that I can arrange meets with similar minded people for long mountainous walks and strolls.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Alfreton

My Message: Hi fellow walkers, living in North East Derbyshire gives me easy access to the Peak District and Wales, Northumberland and the Lakes are 3-4 hours away and need a lot more exploration. The closer I am to water, the better. I am happy to walk 10-15miles (and have done 22 by accident, a longer story...), scrambling is not my forte (fear of heights...I know) but standing on top of a hill feels so good. Could you help me with my map reading? I don't get lost, I just find new places in unexpected ways and it may take a bit longer to get back home but those walks turn out to be the best. That's the adventurer in me. This adventurer has a tent in the car just in case, sets off for France without a fixed plan or goes out on the motorbike to see what's round the next corner. Once I sit down I read, write, play Scrabble and enjoy the views over the open countryside from the patio. Outdoors is a good place and I'd love to hear from you if you want to share it. I have joined a couple of walking groups and they are very welcoming but not all walks have to be with a bunch of people. If you want to join me solo or with the bunch please get in touch and let's see where it takes us. Safe walking, Karen

This year have done Annapurna base camp, toubkal Morocco, picos dos europas, and Everest base camp 2 weeks ago.Love the Himalayas. South America and others await. I am a Female Walker, in my late 40s, based near Cheshire

My Message: I like nothing more than a day walk, any time of year, whatever the weather. I prefer a more challenging walk over a stroll. I love being amongst nature, I find it very calming and grounding after a set of shifts. I'd like to find a fit walking friend who doesn't mind what the weather brings. I am not looking for a relationship, just a likeminded individual to share some pleasant hikes with. I enjoy ridge walks and have done the CMD arête, Crib Goch, Aonach Eagach and lots of the other main ones. Scrambling is a passion too - the Wildboarclough one is my favourite to date! I work unsocial hours and three weekends out of four at present (good old nhs) but have plenty of free days midweek.

My Message: Hi, Female walker looking to meet up with male/female kindred spirit. Reasonably experienced and fit I can walk week ends and midweek . Although the Peak district is nearest to me I am willing to travel to new walks in different areas. An inspiring, energetic hike, whether in the hills or following local footpaths with a packed lunch followed by a pub meal is a day well spent, and better shared. My Message: Hi there , My name is Mark and I live in the south Lake District . I moved here just over 9 years ago from Nottingham after coming on holiday. I fell in love with the hills and the beautiful scenery and wanted to spend the rest of my life here. I am a very keen walker and have climbed about half of the Wainwrights , Ben Nevis, Snowdon etc and a few in Austria. I just love the outdoors in almost any weather conditions and I'm quite good at compass/map reading. I have walked alone quite a lot recently due to family issues and I would now like to share the mountains with other like minded people. It would be great to spend a day scaling a high peak then spending an afternoon with good food and good company. Feel free to get in touch if this sounds good to you. Thanks.

I am a Female Walker, in my late 50s, based near Chelmsford

My Message: Hi, This summer I started walking the South West Coast Path (47 miles down, 583 to go!) I thoroughly enjoyed the walking and the beautiful scenery, and I'm hoping to complete a few more miles next year, but I need to develop my hill fitness . . . not easy to do whilst living in the flat lands of Essex! I'm looking for someone to tackle the hills with and, obviously, I'm going to have to travel, which isn't a problem. I'm not very tall so, despite going at a reasonable pace for me, I'm unable to match the stride length of anyone who prefers to march on at speed. I like to walk and talk, stop to take photos, and to marvel at the incredible views. Are you someone with good map-reading and navigational skills? Would you be happy to walk with me at my pace and understand that I'm actually walking pretty quickly for me? Do you enjoy a chat and a laugh? I work part-time so I'm available from Thursday to Monday and I'm keen to get out there as soon as possible. I love the sunshine and don't mind the cold (I walked in the Peak District in snowy November) but, I'm not so keen on rain - a bit of light drizzle is OK but if it's pouring down . . . I'd rather find a nice tearoom or pub. If you think you can share some hills with me, please get in touch. I'm also open to walks in counties and National Parks other than those listed. I look forward to hearing from you.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Winchester & Hove

My Message: My name is Shelley, widow, originally from South Africa, last 18 years in Hampshire, but currently living/working (flexibly) in Hove & New Alresford . I'm looking for a slowish walking companion to do day walks and occasional longer, and build up my flagging fitness levels - been pretty slack over the past year in a very isolating and sedentary job. Not great on hills at the moment - unless we can stop to admire the scenery on the way up. I work, but days/weeks/even months off are easy to arrange, as job is flexible, and have a car. I've clicked the counties around where I live for day walks but very happy to walk further afield. Lighthearted, friendly, enjoy camping, gardening, reading, nature, novice birder, bit of a home body, care hugely about the planet and could be called a tree hugger. Favourite tipple - plenty of tea or one gin.

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 60s, based near North Yorkshire/Yorkshire Dales

My Message: Looking for walking mates (m or f) to do moderate/strenuous walks. I am passionate about the hills, wild places and like a challenge. I am an experienced hillwalker but also enjoy social walks. I usually walk with groups - or alone to practice navigation (which I am reasonable at) - though prefer to walk with others. It would be good to meet up with likeminded walking buddies as its always better to share the experience. I'm easy going, enjoy socialising, have a good soh and when at my fittest I walk in Scotland, the Pyrenees and Spain. It would be good to get to know anyone else who might be interested in walking locally to any of the locations listed or even to these other stunning areas. I work P/T as a health professional and can walk in the week as well as at week-ends. I'm happy to travel to meet up.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Berkeley

My Message: Hi, I hope you are well? Update 12.11.17 I am still a single 55 year old man and am looking for a walking partner to get me back into my walking boots, I ruptured my Achilles Tendon a couple of years ago and have not really done any walks since apart from a couple of 6 mile ones. I can often be seen around the countryside with my camera and tripod, trying to take a photo of some wildlife, usually feathered birds :-)I hope to find someone who is willing to take things steady at first to see how far I can get myself back up to. I work as a lorry driver and so am not as fit as I was before the injury when my job at the time was a more active one. Friends are good and if I found a partner out of this then I would feel very lucky.

My Message: No messages since I registered anyone out there in West or East Sussex want to go 4 a walk!! Hi I am 55 and love to walk. My adorable Labrador Alfie my constant walking buddy is now 12 and unable to cope with distance or challenging terrain. Married with two college age boys and hard working husband. Live only 5 minutes stroll from the English Channel and the back drop of the South Downs with its extensive walking path routes. I travel to Austria almost every year to hike/walk whilst my husband finds the road cycling routes. I work part time with flexible hours. I am looking for female walking buddies for walking all levels weekdays and/or weekends close to home or further afield. I would like to conquer the West Country and South Wales Coastal Paths. I am interested in architecture, flora and fauna, wildlife and also any walking routes that are themed. I am quite a brisk walker but like to stop and take in my surrounding. I look forward to meeting you. . . . . . . . . . . Recently obtained NNAS Bronze Certificate.
