Message: Hello my name is Edward, I am 46, and single. I am looking for a female walking companion. I have not walked for a few years but want to get back in to it. I did think of joining The Ramblers but, I am quite shy, and do not like large groups of people. I am going on holiday to East Devon on 30th September for a week, and would love to go for a walk's with some company. Currently I do not work but, am looking for work, and doing some volunteering in the meantime. I am based in Swindon, Wiltshire but, am willing to travel to meet people for walks in most of the South West, and South Wales. However, I would be prepared to go further afield for a planned trip / holiday. I can assure you that I am a honest, respectful, and concientious person who has good intentions, and would like to make some new friends. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like further information, and I will happily oblige. Thank you for reading my profile.

Message: I live within an hour of the Peak District. I know it really well and love it, but equally love Wales, The Lakes and other parts too. I first got the walking bug whilst doing a charity walk in Snowdonia in 1998 (Crib Goch at 4 a.m.). I'm happy walking on hilltops and along valleys, canals, rivers and dales as well as mountain tops. I walk to chill and enjoy what's there, not to just race to the end, what would make my day complete though is some cheerful, like minded female company to share the views, some good conversation (serious or silly), laughter and after walk refreshments. I'm chilled, have a quick wit, great sense of humour and am good fun to walk with. I'm dependable too and, being an ex DofE assessor, I'm a fairly competent map reader. If you enjoy your walking and are interested in joining me I'd love to hear from you. I can promise you an enjoyable day out. Chris

new Male Walker, 48, based near Guiseley (Leeds)

Message: Although I do enjoy short single day walks, I prefer when possible to do a full weekend or longer multi day when ever get the chance. I've never used B&B, preferring instead to use either Youth hostels/bunk barns, as I find them super friendly places & certainly much better value for money. Over the years I've always walked alone as I find this allows me to use my good map reading skills to plan my own routes & walk at my own pace. As well as using the hostels I usually always carry full camping equipment when away too as this allows me the option to walk & finish when & where ever I please on a night. Although I'll always meet others while on route walking, it still tends to get a bit boring sometimes & I often wish I'd someone else to chat to. I tried group walking with a club once, but although I found it very friendly I don't think it's quite what I'm looking for. I'd like to meet another walker of around the same age & ability, who's also into my style of walking & who's also got quite a reasonable amount of spare time on their hands. Due to carrying a large 75-10 rucksack & all this eqp't on multi day walks I'm not looking for the kind of routes where you scramble up a steep mountain side like a squirrel on steroids! only to give myself cardiac arrest on reaching the summit - can't see any fun in that!!! Quite happy to walk in all weather conditions & any time of the year. Also happy to camp anywhere when needed, although I usually try & finish near civilisation & a pub on a night. All the best; Steven.

Message: Hi, I hope you are well? I am as of July 2017 a single 55 year old man and am looking for a walking partner to get me back into my walking boots, i ruptured my Achilles Tendon a couple of years ago and have not really done any walks since apart from a couple of 6 mile ones. So I hope to find someone who is willing to take things steady at first to see how far I can get myself back up to. I work as a lorry driver and so am not as fit as I was before the injury when my job at the time was a more active one. Friends are good and if I found a partner out of this then I would feel very lucky.

Message: Hi, I'm Tim, 61, fit, active, lots of energy and stamina, looking for a female walking companion. Any age or ethnic origin is welcome, but I am an atheist, and there's not much point in us being too philosophically dissimilar. I live on the London/Kent border but have walked extensively in all areas of England and Wales and bits of Scotland (only the distance has kept me from doing more). Have walked most hills in the Lake District and Snowdonia and nearly all the national trails and many others. I love the UK coast and am always ready to walk any part of it, as well as local paths such as the North Downs Way and South Downs Way. In fact, I'll walk anywhere and at any time - it's what I love to do. Hopefully I'm well-rounded and I also love music, books, maps, nature, history, buildings, etc. Friends have said that I'm funny, kind, intelligent, sensitive, a good conversationalist - still, what do they know? Any companion would hopefully soon be a friend but I'm very open for this to develop into a girlfriend/soulmate/life partner situation. And if it doesn't there'd still be a good walking friendship. If any of this appeals I'd love to hear from you.

Message: Hallo! I'm Lorna, a 57 year old teacher, living in South Wales. I love being outdoors, have a Welsh border collie (Tom) and am a really keen walker. I like hill and coastal walks, a comfortable distance for me is 7 to 13 miles. I also love cycling and folk music (not together!). It would be great to meet some like-minded friends. Male Walker, 70, based near Ledbury

Message: Hi, I'm Colin, and there is so much of the three counties (Hereford / Worcester / Glos) countryside waiting to be found and savoured, that I just know that without a companion to set some days with, they'll remain unexplored. So I'm relying on some like minded soul to help me to rescue my best intentions and enjoy a gentle countryside walk or even a ramble over the Beacons. And me? Well, I continue to work in the forest world and won't see 70 again, but this is no deterrent as I keep fit by cycling, playing tennis & badminton plus a enjoyment of orienteering. My ever (mostly) patient wife of some 37 years sadly does not share my enthusiasm for stretching the joints, but is quite relaxed about finding a companion - a situation which has worked well in the past. Message: Hi, I'm Cath - I love walking in the countryside and have done since a child as my dad was a keen walker - I grew up in the Cotswolds so love walking around there but enjoy anywhere with a bit of a hill and a good view - I do walk on my own sometimes as hubby is not a country lover and children grown up so would like to find someone to have a chat and a laugh with while walking. Message: Hi I'm Karen. I'm single and now that I am retired I have a lot more time to go walking just for an afternoon or a day (week days and weekends) or for weeks. I'd like to meet up with other walkers to continue to do the SW Coast Path (I have done form Poole to nearly Plymouth and am happy to do other bits in any order), Offa's Dyke, the Coast to Coast or West Highland Way from 2017 onwards. I've walked the Thames Path from my home as I live on the Wiltshire / Gloucestershire borders, as well as most of my local walks and many more all over the UK - on my own and many in groups; always much more fun and interesting. I have a car and am happy to travel and go for walks all over the UK and abroad; I will tackle hills; have done Snowdon and other fairly high spots like the Jurassic Coast but my knees now really prefer fewer or shorter or less steep climbs. I love watching for wildlife along the way and would love to share the scenery and enjoyment with male or female friends. Its great to have a bit of a laugh and a chat along the way, especially if interspersed with stop offs for a cuppa or at a pub.

Message: Hello. I love walking and would enjoy meeting new people (male or female) to walk with. I have 3 dogs (a cocker spaniel, a terrier cross and recently acquired a rescue dog from Bulgaria who is a black and cream fluffy mixed breed about collie size but looks like a miniature husky) the 2 older dogs are very well behaved and the young pup (9 months) is getting there. I love my dogs, but would enjoy the company of human beings too! I can walk quite long distances, but need to do a bit of 'view appreciation' during longer uphill climbs. I live on the outskirts of Gloucester, but am happy to travel within reason. I have a tent and like to go camping in the better weather.

Message: Your Message Hi I am looking for a single male walking companion of similar age. I walk every week and at every opportunity( and at least a mile a day with my lurcher/ lab puppy , his company is optional by the way)! I would like to walk any where and everywhere and would like to get better at map reading and learn more about walking/ walks. Would like to do some serious walks - Pennine way etc... I like to stop every now and then and look around at the natural beauty and drink it all in, not too keen on route marches. A nice pub is always good . Message: Hi, I'm Adrian, single, retired, fit, and keen to meet an active fit female walking companion to explore our beautiful islands, and further afield. I have a camper van to tour and also to use as a mobile base for circular and linear walks, perhaps on classic long distance national trails. I enjoy all types of walks both short and full day walks and long distance. On the latter I prefer to complete the walk in one go rather than spread over weeks, months or year. I have completed a number of classic long distance paths including The Pennine Way and Wainwrights Coast to Coast, but I'm not against doing these again if my companion wished to do them. Not so good on heights these days so I avoid walking on high level narrow ledges. I am a vegetarian who eats fish, non competitive nature, passionate about our natural world, fun loving, often quirky. Other interests include camping, cycling, casual nature walks, am NT and RSPB member, conservation volunteering, reading, eclectic taste in music, art cinema, theatre, the arts, wildlife gardening and DIY. Am politically a bit of a lefty. If any of this appeals, please get in touch.

Message: I've just come home from work, walking all day in the Worcestershire countryside in the sun with a pack of dogs, including my own. Having served my time climbing hills and mountains with groups of children in the Outdoor Education sector, I now spend my working hours walking with dogs and feel it would be good and healthy to spend my leisure time walking with adult company. About me - my name is Alison (50 next year and planning various walking trips to celebrate) and if you walk with me you walk with my Collie, Gwenon. For me its about being out there in the countryside, listening to the birds, hugging the trees, reconnecting with the natural world, catching the views as much as bagging peaks - although this is always an added bonus. I am as happy in the lowlands, in the woods, by the sea as I am navigating my way across highlands and moorland. I am a sound navigator and enjoy exploring as well as working out the maths! I enjoy exploring off the beaten track and have also been known to while away my time playing in the stream. If any of this sounds appealing and you are willing to join me being out there in the wild or not so wild, get in touch.

Message: Hi everyone, this is the first time I have used this message board or anything like it so I am not exactly sure what to put. I am 56 coming up 57 and am on my own. As for the graded walks I am not sure, but I like to walk the hills in the Lake District and equally like a low level walk through the valleys. I don't like to start a walk when it's pouring down, but have got caught in the rain many a time whilst out. I've ticked a few of the boxes regards where I would like to walk but would be glad to go anywhere where there is countryside, woods etc. I would be glad to here from anyone, male or female with similar interests. If anyone would like anymore information please contact me any time.

I walk often in the Peak District, the Brecon Beacons and Wales all of which are within striking distance of here. I have family in France so also walk regularly in Europe particularly in the French and Spanish Pyrennees and next year have planned to do the camino from St. Jean de Luz. I am no longer working full time but am nowhere near ready to slow down. This means I have time to travel and enjoy new walking opportunities as well as make new friends who like me, love the great outdoors. Please contact me if you would like to walk with me either in the UK or Europe. Bon Voyage! Terri

Message: There is nothing better than for me to be out walking in the hills and mountains of Wales (home now) or Scotland (home for 6 years until 2012) with my 2 spaniels. I would prefer to be out and about, joking and laughing with close friends rather than watching mind numbing TV on my own. I'm a Yorkshire lad, so any testing peak, anywhere in the UK or Europe, I would give it my best shot. There has to be some common sense prevailing when the location is chosen, so Wales, the Peak District, Cumbria, the South West would be easier to say yes to. Wild Camping, BandB, inns with good food and ale, I'm up for all of it, provided my dogs get to come too.

Message: Spurred on by doing more challenging walks ahead of doing the Three Peaks Challenge 3 years ago I have continued to enjoy walks and climbs. I am active and fully fit enjoying a variety of activities. I enjoy varied walks from relaxed countryside walks to something a lot more challenging. Part of enjoying walks for me is good company. I am happy to enjoy a drink or meal afterwards and perhaps consider trips. Prefer mid-week although I could do weekend walks. I have indicated walking areas and counties but are not limited to those indicated. If my post interests you do get in touch

Message: Hi there, I'm Kathy and would like to find a male companion to go walking with. A very dear friend introduced me to this site. She knows that I love walking, being close to nature and the great outdoors, but was aware that with the winter months encroaching I was looking for new ideas to fill my spare time. I have hobbies such as dancing and sailing but as I lost my partner very suddenly in 2011, and have lived alone since, it has been more difficult to pursue some of my interests. I have special time daily with my 2 lovely labs and we walk at least twice a day, but as they are now in their senior years, both 12 years old, I am restricted by distance. I would like to find some one who would be happy to accompany me for longer walks at a weekend. I am nick named chatty Kathy and I do like to converse on all manner of topics plus a good sense of humour is always a bonus as we meander along. I have to say I am an A star when it comes to getting lost, although a little deviation can be interesting at times. If you would consider being my companion and helping me get from A to B, (I'm hopeless at map reading), please send me a message. You never know, I might find the one I am looking for. I know you are out there. Thank you for taking the time to read my message. Kathryn

Message: Hi I'm looking to meet new people/friends to have fun with and share some nice days out walking. I'm originally from Scotland but moved to South Cheshire a few years ago so fairly new to the area & looking to explore. I'm out most weekends walking or mountain biking so I'm reasonably fit but I say that in the loosest of terms!. I also love camping so happy to go away for a camping/walking weekend. I have three dogs all Cavalier King Charles Spaniels which i would like to take walking with me (not on the harder routes though) so if you have a dog or don't mind fury animals then I would love to hear from you whether it be a lazy stroll or something a bit more energetic!.
