new Male Walker, 58, based near Southampton

Message: WANTED - PARTNER FOR PYRENEAN WALK FROM ATLANTIC TO MEDITERRANEAN. I'm Steve, an experienced walker looking for a m/f partner to share the above challenging hike with me in 2014, largely following the 500 mile route of the HRP (Haute Randonnee Pyreneenne). Expected duration is around 6 weeks, long enough to really enjoy the experience rather than treat it as a route march. Young or old, age is immaterial, and whilst physical fitness is desirable you don't need to be an athlete. Rather more important is mental toughness, determination and a personality compatible with mine. I live near Southampton but will consider potential partners anywhere in the country provided we can get in some practice walks together. If this is the kind of life-changing experience you have been looking for, pop me a line.

new Female Walker, 58, based near Southampton

Message: Hi, I'm Jane, 58 year old fittish female living in Southampton. I'm seeking likeminded walkers male or female with or without dogs to walk with two or three times a month, preferably at weekends. I have two male border collies. I walk approx. 3 miles a day during the winter and clock up more mileage in summer, mainly in country parks. I'd really like to spread my horizons and meet new walking buddies. I have excellent endurance, enjoy good conversation about anything and everything, and would like to explore new places and share new experiences with likeminded souls. I've graded myself at 1 to 4, not because I can't walk 10 miles a day, but because I don't have time to do this on a regular basis. I work Monday to Thursday, and enjoy a three day weekend. I'm up for pub lunches, coffee and cake or even a picnic. If you're local or further afield and think we may get along, I look forward to hearing from you.

new Male Walker, 50, based near Carlisle

Message: Hi all, I am a jovial, fun and can be a chatterbox with the right company, and surroundings I am confident with. Normally I am quiet and reserved, I like to observe, take in my surroundings, and make decisions based on my capabilities and safety for both myself and others. . . that said, I can be a bit of a Daredevil if I put my mind to it!! I like trying new and some oddball/ obscure things to do! Like sitting in a deckchair outside in the snow having a BBQ in Wales on Boxing Day. . But then again mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun!. . . Question is. . they must have been having a dream, I have not seen much Sun recently. . does it exist. . Does anyone fancy coming out walking and camping, in search of this holy grail. . . That UFO- the SUN !! I am sure we will get rained on in the process. . . This is Britain. . . . Come Shine or Heavy Rain/ Snow!! I would normally prefer to travel as greenly as possible, by bicycle, on foot, using public transport etc, ( I have a car licence-but no car). I usually find most walks start in obscure places away from Bus/Train stops/ stations, so finding my way around places can be interesting to say the least!. . . . At least if I take my many photographs, I might be able to find my way back on my Digital photo path, assuming the camera batteries have not gone flat!!! So if you fancy some Left of centre intelligent and sometimes rambling conversations with a choatic forgetful, late for his tea and sometimes oddball guy, then I am your man. . . If you are a conventional person who smokes like a chimney, please keep on walking past my profile. . . . I like Wild camping, I live in the Wilds of North Cumbria and I like the Wilder side of Life!!? Anyone fancy a brew???? and a BBQ midge sandwich?? I hope there are some other outdoor nuts about??

Message: I am a single man from Berkeley in Gloucestershire who loves walking, I mostly walk in the Cotswold's, Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and over to the Brecon Beacons. I am still interested in walking these areas but would also like to expand and go to Dartmoor, Exmoor and the Peak District for weekend jaunts. I think the Lake District and Snowdonia would be great to re-visit again for longer weekend or week breaks. I have been up Snowdon 3 times and never had a view but I have enjoyed the Welsh Oggie they sell in the Cafe. I plan to do Cadir Idris sometime in 2013. I have walked up the highest mountains in England, Scotland, Wales and both North and South of Ireland in recent years, quite fancy a trip to Skye sometime too and perhaps a good long week in Scotland. Oh, I also own a 3 person Canadain canoe and a Single Sit on Kayak but can't swim very well!! Paddy

new Male Walker, 62, based near Nth W Leicestershire

Message: Hi, I walk regularly in all weathers and though I like getting up somewhere reasonably high (love Tryfan) I'm happy walking the valleys and dales too. I walk to see what's there, not to tick it off and so don't believe it's necessary to do distance or height just for the sake of it. I also enjoy camping , windsurfing and occasional cycling. I'm outgoing, fit, dependable and a fairly competent navigator. I'm looking for someone of similar ilk but female to join me, age isn't important, but you must be a non smoker so if you would like to see more of our wonderful country and mix it with good company, lively conversation ( light hearted or serious ), plenty of laughter, and an after walk meal or drink then write. I'm free most weekends and occasional weekdays too. Chris

Message: Hello, I live in Dorking Surrey and it would be great to hear from any ladies who would like a walking partner! I work in London during the week, but am around for walking at the weekends and am happy to travel. I really enjoy a great conversation, so we won't be short of chatter on our walk! I also like landscape photography so if you enjoy the same, that would be an added bonus although I'm not one to spend ages setting up a picture! A pub at the end of the walk always goes down well! Message: Hi my name's Jenny. Walked with my husband until he died but didn't really 'get it' until I was alone. Since then it's become a large part of my life but I find now I'm more ambitious than my friends and I'm left feeling unsatisfied. It would be good to walk with someone, male or female, who was able to travel to new areas in order to appreciate more of Britain's wonderful countryside. A comfortable distance for me would be between 10 and 14 miles and I particularly enjoy long distant paths, this year having completed the Cotswold Way and the Coast 2 Coast, both walked in sections over two years as my friend's ability was limited. This year I took my grandson on his first long walk by doing part of the Cumbria Way from Coniston to Keswick. I'll walk in any weather, can read a map and enjoy arriving to a good meal and glass of red.

Message: I've always enjoyed coastal walking and love the sea. I know and love the Dorset coast. It's beautiful at any time of the year. Although I've put mainly the South-West as my areas of interest for walking, I'd love to go further afield if I had company to walk with - singles or couples - I don't mind which. I work full-time but can arrange to walk at weekends or school holidays. I'm happy to try something a bit challenging rather than a gentle stroll and I'm handy with a map and compass. I've done a bit of orienteering in the past. Do get in touch if you might be interested :)

Male Walker, 64, based near Gosport

Message: Hi My Name is Geof. I am a 64 year male. Based in Gosport, Hants. I walk at least one day a week, up to 8 - 10 miles typically at a reasonable pace if its easy going, a little less and more slowly if hilly. But I do like to stop and enjoy the scenery and the wildlife and usually with a pub visit somewhere on route. I would like to get out two or three days a week, and am free most weekdays and weekends for walks anywhere in the South Coast counties, and with the right company am interested in some longer walks in other parts of the country. I am retired so have all the time in the world for walking, some boating in the Solent and touring in the motorhome. The latter, as a basis for walking further afield anywhere in UK or Europe. I have a particular passion for the west of Scotland and would like to find a companion to spend some time walking in that area.

Message: Retired & fit, looking for companions to walk LDPs as the more I do, the more I want to do. Many of my walking friends are not able/willing to do LDPs. I walk anything between 10-14 miles per day. Mostly B&Bs or hostels (no tents these days although I love campervans). My friendly border collie sometimes walks with me and I still have a long list of trails I want to challenge, such as The Dales Way, Offa's Dyke, Cowal Way and many others. Transport not a problem. Is anyone interested in joining me or are there any other trails you want to do and would like a companion to share petrol costs? Could also walk locally round New Forest & Dorset, Hampshire area.

Message: My name's Kathy and walking is really important to me as it gives my life perspective. When I'm out in the countryside or mountains, everything becomes more manageable just through the natural beauty around me. The places I've stipulated are more familiar ones, but I like exploring as well. I've also loved walking on Majorca and in Bosnia. I visit Cumbria often, renting a cottage and planning walks for the week. I recently spent a few days in the Cotswolds, much tamer but only two hours away, so great for a quick getaway. Please get in touch if you'd like to try a walk - I'm a teacher, so have lots of time in the holidays and on light summer evenings. as well as weekends.
