Message: Hello all, I am just looking to make some new walking, cycling, camping/ hostelling friends and travel companions. . . I am a family man, but lack friends to go out and about with, as I live very rural, it is difficult to get out and meet people easily in my locality, so I want to find some like minded friends further afield. . I have lived in the North West for more than 7 years, but walked very little of it, so can anyone suggest some places to start walking. . . I really fancy starting off with camping along the Flyde coast somewhere, somehow, I just lack reliable adventurous friends to go off with and explore with or have some banter with around the BBQ/ camp fire. I walk mainly coastal and river based walks, I can walk some lower uplands, and eventually I hope to walk the high uplands in the UK, as hopefully my fitness improves. . . work in progress! I like coastal/ beach walks, visiting nice country inns for a meal, taking myself and my camera for a walk. . . I am an all weather walker, I am just lacking some company on my treks. . . . Hope to meet some new friends, just think it could be you !!

Message: WANTED - PARTNER FOR PYRENEAN WALK FROM ATLANTIC TO MEDITERRANEAN. I'm Steve, an experienced walker looking for a m/f partner to share the above challenging hike with me in 2014, largely following the 500 mile route of the HRP (Haute Randonnee Pyreneenne). Expected duration is around 6 weeks, long enough to really enjoy the experience rather than treat it as a route march. Young or old, age is immaterial, and whilst physical fitness is desirable you don't need to be an athlete. Rather more important is mental toughness, determination and a personality compatible with mine. I live near Southampton but will consider potential partners anywhere in the country provided we can get in some practice walks together. Message: Hi, I am an experienced walker who is able to do 10-20 miles comfortably. I walk weekly with two groups but am looking for keen walkers to do more adventurous walks and enjoy the great outdoors with on weekends away and hols. I have a good knowledge of the OS maps and compass. I am a working mum of two and my husband is not one for country walks, So I am able to do day walks on Sundays (Saturdays, if child care can be arranged) and can go away during school holidays . I enjoy walking at good pace ( some say fast) and like learning about people, things and places of interest. I like to describe myself as an around good egg! Message: Hi, I'm Jane, 58 year old fittish female living in Southampton. I'm seeking likeminded walkers male or female with or without dogs to walk with two or three times a month, preferably at weekends. I have two male border collies. I walk approx. 3 miles a day during the winter and clock up more mileage in summer, mainly in country parks. I'd really like to spread my horizons and meet new walking buddies. I have excellent endurance, enjoy good conversation about anything and everything, and would like to explore new places and share new experiences with likeminded souls. I've graded myself at 1 to 4, not because I can't walk 10 miles a day, but because I don't have time to do this on a regular basis. I work Monday to Thursday, and enjoy a three day weekend. Message: Hi, I walk regularly in all weathers and though I like getting up somewhere reasonably high (love Tryfan) I'm happy walking the valleys and dales too. I walk to see what's there, not to tick it off and so don't believe it's necessary to do distance or height just for the sake of it. I also enjoy camping , windsurfing and occasional cycling. I'm outgoing, fit, dependable and a fairly competent navigator. I'm looking for someone of similar ilk but female to join me, age isn't important, but you must be a non smoker so if you would like to see more of our wonderful country and mix it with good company, lively conversation ( light hearted or serious ), plenty of laughter, and an after walk meal or drink then write. Message: I have been a keen walker for the last 10 years but (as we have got older) my walking companions have begun to fall by the wayside whereas I'm still raring to go! I have considered joining the Ramblers but I'd rather not walk in a large group. Also having exhausted most of the walks in the Bath area, Wiltshire and Dorset I would like to start walking further afield and have got my eye on some of the long distance trails ----- I prefer walking from place to place rather than circular walks but I will do both! Although I am slow uphill, I can cover 8 to 14 miles a day especially if there is a meal and a glass of wine to look forward to at the end. The other thing I enjoy is map reading and it gives me great satisfaction when I have negotiated a route successfully. So, I am looking for a walking companion who would like to do any of the above either during the week or at weekends.

Message: Hi My name's Angie and I'm looking for a male to accompany me on my walks. I'm fairly fit, hoping to do some good long distance walks and looking for someone to introduce me to the excitement of hillwalking and getting off the beaten track - I don't really have navigation skills yet but am keen to learn. I love Snowdonia and the majesty of the mountains but quite happy to explore anywhere and everywhere off the beaten track. I enjoy a hard day's walking but am equally happy to stop and enjoy the view while taking a well earned breather. Message: I've always enjoyed coastal walking and love the sea. I know and love the Dorset coast. It's beautiful at any time of the year. Although I've put mainly the South-West as my areas of interest for walking, I'd love to go further afield if I had company to walk with - singles or couples - I don't mind which. I work full-time but can arrange to walk at weekends or school holidays. I'm happy to try something a bit challenging rather than a gentle stroll and I'm handy with a map and compass. Message: Hi my name is Sue, I hope to meet someone who is either at my level of walking or someone prepared to take it easy as I improve. I have time now to see some of our beautiful countryside and coasts. I have climbed Snowdon, walked the beautiful gentle river walk at Dove Dale, and lots of walks up to 7 miles ish ( usualy to a pub for lunch and back to the car!) in the Cotswolds. I am fairly fit, size 12. The photo is a business one, and is two years old. Good luck to everyone wanting to open their lives a little more.

Message: Hello. I am looking for people to go walking with at the weekends mainly on Exmoor and Dartmoor, I normally have my dog with me but conversation is very thin on the ground! I love to be in the hills and mountains winter, summer and in any weather. I would like to make some friends to go off to Scotland, Lakes, Wales etc - any area where there is good walking really. I am an easy going 43 year old female and I also enjoy kayaking - although I am very new to it but the idea of combining a walking and kayaking holiday around the islands off Scotland appeals. I live in North Devon and have done all my life but people around here just don't seem to want to get out walking! So if you're up for a wander and maybe a pint or a cuppa along the way get in touch.
