Male Walker, 44, based near Clitheroe, Whalley, Accrington, Padiham

Message: I am a single 44yr old male looking for a walking partner around 38-46yrs for local general walks and some more challenging mountain ones in the lakes etc. At the moment due to work i can only walk some sundays or mondays for more distant walks but most evenings for shorter local walks. I am a keen photographer so sometimes take some camera kit so may wish to stop for the odd shot. I havent done many mountainous walks recently as no one to do them with so may need breaking in again. If you interested drop me a line. Jonathan

Male Walker, 51, based near Worcestershire

Message: Hello, my name is Alex, I am a fit, slim, single 52 year old, living in a beautiful, rural area of Worcestershire. I received an email this morning from a chum who is currently backpacking his way around New Zealand, and he was encouraging me to get off my bottom, see more of this island, and perhaps join a walking club. . . . so here I am a few hours later, all signed up to this site! Initially, I would like to gently ease my way back into walking, until full fitness is restored. I regularly used to walk the Malvern Hills, all through the Cotswolds, and have done many, many miles in the West of Ireland when I lived there. I still want to walk my regular walks, but now I have a mind to cast my net wider, in search of some fresh challenges and experiences. My ideal companion who I would like to join me? Female, bright, optimistic, fit, good company, has a sense of direction (as my map reading ability is very rusty). Someone who would be happy to have a few well deserved drinks and a pub meal at the end of the day. I no longer have a dog, so if you do happen to have a four-legged friend who loves the outdoor life, and who of course loves me too, then even better. I have plenty of time on my hands, during the week and at weekends, and I drive, so if you are looking for some genial and intelligent company along the way, perhaps we should make a plan.

Male Walker, 65, based near Manchester

Message: Hello, I'm David, single, 65 and just retired (summer '12), I live in east Manchester and would like to meet singles or a group to make walking more pleasurable. I'm not that experienced a walker so may have to be gradually more adventurous in my excursions, having said that my last job was very active so I need more than a gentle stroll to the pub! An active stroll to the pub, then, or a tea shop or whatever. My map reading skills are reasonable, I think, and I have a good sense of direction. Anybody reasonably local who would like to join forces with me, please get in touch. Dog owners welcome, though cats preferred!

Male Walker, 49, based near Near Doncaster

Message: Hi, I love the outdoors in any weather but not done much these last few years due to other priorities in life so a bit rusty, not after a date just relaxing walking company- one to one or small mixed groups to explore our wonderful countryside, mostly available for weekday walks which I enjoy due to everyone else being at work ! but can make some weekends with a bit of planning. I don't like route marches as i like to enjoy the scenery and take the odd photo.. but can keep a fair pace when needed, much younger than my age suggests and always out to enjoy the walk with a smile or laugh along the way,I am trustworthy & reliable company....happy to talk but also happy to keep quiet and relax, I have previously spent most of my time in the Peak district which I adore, though not a beginner I am not experienced either so although getting lost is rare it does happen once in a while !! Any questions feel free to ask i don't bite and we only live once don't we. . . . . . . and as a walking friend i think I am a bit of a bargain.

Message: Hi, I'm a single (divorced), solvent, self employed mobile guy with a young outlook on life, gsoh and in good shape. I'd love some good female company when out walking to share life's experiences and interests, plus conversation and laughs along the way (and possibly leading to more). I'm free any day of the week with a little notice to (preferably) do circular walks of between 6 and 15 miles with a pack up and / or food and drink afterwards. I don't have children, or pets with legs, but wouldn't have a problem with someone who does. I've also got a Geography A-level and can read a map / compass so would hope not to get us lost whilst out there! If you think we'd get along, just for one day, please get in touch. You never know !

Female Walker, 57, based near North Bedfordshire

Message: Hi, I'm a single, 57 year old, female, who has just moved from the Derbyshire Peak District to rural Bedfordshire! So I'm missing the hills. I'm looking for a male friend for walking, talking, laughing and that pint/meal at the end of the day. I love walking in wild, empty places and don't mind roughing it occasionally to get to that special place. I completed the Coast to Coast in May and would like to do other trails........preferably using B&Bs! I've walked a lot in Europe, Canada, Patagonia and New Zealand and would love to discover new places. And I've recently discovered the delights of Assynt and Norway. I work full-time, so weekends tend to be reserved for walks. I'm not particularly fast - I like to take in everything around me rather than going on a route march! I'd love to hear from you if you have similar interests.

Message: Hello - I'm Tony and I'm interested in finding male & female walking companions to enjoy walking with. I am also interested in multi-day hikes/walks incorporating wild camping (or the nearest B&B if the rain is incessantly going sideways !). I like to 'enjoy' the walk and the scenery, not go charging around like some demented mountain goat on steroids, so I have limited my selections to grades 1-6. I'm interested in meeting partners both for walking, hiking & camping (organised site or wild) and am fortunate to enjoy a wide selection of kit & equipment ..... I could probably equip a small expedition ! I like walking in any weather though prefer it to be cooler especially if carrying multi-day kit. Whereas I climbed a bit when I was younger I tend not to go for overly technical routes .... the only things I scramble nowadays are eggs :) As a shift worker I can enjoy walks both at weekends & weekdays alike with planning and will gladly meet & share a walk with folk of all ages. Enjoy good conversation on just about any topic with the exception of football; and equally finding a nice post-walk watering hole :) I'm a competent navigator with both map/compass but always also carry a GPS and am always keen to learn more about both - also drive & can travel easily anywhere. We live in such a beautiful country with gorgeous & diverse scenery and it would be lovely to find new friends with whom to share such simple enjoyment as a walk in our countryside - hope to hear from you soon & thanks for reading - Tony

Message: Hi I have been getting lazy of late and only been walking the rolling downs of Hampshire, I recently went up Pen Y Fan and my body reminded me of muscles I had forgotten about. I would love to get back into walking more challenging walks. Sharing the travel costs would be a great advantage. Message: Hi, Love being outdoors, love walking and being in nature. I'm looking and hoping for company on a few walks.Walked the Camino de Santiago this year and need to get out on a few more distant walks, all walks considered long or short and will travel to most destinations. Don't mind walking with groups or individuals . Happy to share with dogs as I have one of my own but she is too old and a little lazy these days so can't take her with me. Can go most days unless I'm away working but pretty flexible. Happy to do full weekends and not too past it to camp wild if required but very happy in a Guest house or hostel. I'm reasonably fit as I train most days and practice martial arts too so most paces ok with me as long as now and again we can have a stroll and take in some scenery my marathon running days are sadly over.
