I am a Male Walker, in my early 60s, based near Bishop Auckland hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi.. great website! I moved up to County Durham in 2010 because of work and previous love of the scenery. I did Pennine Way 30 years ago (and love revisiting bits of it), the Dales Way, WHW, Great Glen Way, Dava Way, Isaac's Tea Trail. I enjoy regular walking in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales, Scottish Highlands, the Borders and Northumberland. Although I'd like to walk C2C sometime too, shorter circular walks are just as appealing. I enjoyed the 2014 Hadrians Wall Trekathon and raised over £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support. I don't have a dog to growl at you and always prefer human company to share the walk with. Am free many weekends (when not being musical) and am looking forward to hearing from you. Happy 2018!! AND if it says I'm in my early 60s, that's not until mid-May 2018. Andy

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West Scotland; North East Scotland; Southern Scotland; North East England; North West England; Yorkshire; The English Midlands; South West England;

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Nottingham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I live South of the Peak District. I know it really well and love it, but equally love walking in Wales, The Lakes, Yorkshire, Northumbria and other parts too. I first got the walking bug whilst doing a charity walk in Snowdonia in 1998 (Crib Goch at 4 a.m.). I'm happy walking on hilltops and along valleys, canals, rivers and dales as well as mountain tops. I walk to chill and enjoy what's there, not to just race to the end, what would make my day complete though is some good company to share the views, some good conversation (serious or silly), laughter and after walk refreshments. I'm chilled, have a quick wit and great sense of humour. My other interests are landscape photography, art and the theatre. I'm vegetarian ( you don't have to be) and a good cook though do enjoy dining out too. If you enjoy your walking and are interested in joining me, get in touch.

Chris

I am a Female Walker, in my early 40s, based near Cheltenham hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi. My name is Silke (German, living and working in the UK since 2013) and I'd be happy to meet cheerful people who like going for a walk. In July 2017 I did the Cotswold Way Challenge (100k in one go from Bath to Cheltenham for Amnesty International) and made amazing friends. Signed up for the Jurassic Coast Challenge 2018 for Doctors Without Borders. I'm a big lover of dogs, local pubs and beer ;-), food (I'm vegan but I don't care what other people eat), pole fitness, music, film. I don't have a car, so I can usually be found in my area walking one of my beloved borrow doggies (I've got two, not ten, lol, and so far I walk them separately).
If you wanna join me, get in touch. Looking forward to hearing from you x

I am a Female Walker, in my late 50s, based near Darlington hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi I am a woman in her late 50s who loves walking but has been unable to for quite a while due to a knee condition. I recently completed my first 6 mile walk so I am really keen to keep up the good work and increase my stamina/distance. I like to enjoy the view and good conversation is a must. My other passions are literature, theatre, art, museums and good food and wine! As I don't drive meet ups would have to be accessible by public transport or we could share petrol costs? Looking forward to getting back out there with good company and a few pitstops afterwards.

My Preferred Walk Areas:

A bit more about me:

I really don't like Scrambling & Edges - they are defintely not for me. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. If pushed, I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are rather poor at best. I don't drive.

Important: For the avoidence of doubt I am definitely not looking for anything other than someone to go walking with.

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Merseyside hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi I would like to meet anyone familiar with walks around the Bala/Gwynedd area. Unfortunately I'm no good at map reading hence why I'm hoping to find people with good navigational skills. I recently climbed Cader Idris with a group and excellent leader so didn't get lost! Other recent experience has been a point to point trek across Mallorca, high level walking in Sardinia & Lanzarote. I also usually manage to visit the Lakes a couple of times a year. I don't do camping of ANY kind I'm afraid but do enjoy good humour and conversation. If you can read a map and fancy a day out in the Gwynedd area please get in touch.

My Message: I love walking, especially along coast paths. I have been walking for many years and am confident at navigating. It is nice to have some company along the way so if you are about my age and like walking, or just fancy trying it for the first time, maybe we could go4awalk together sometime. I am a Male Walker, in my early 60s, based near Elgin hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, my name is John and I live and work near the Cairngorm Mountains in northern Scotland. I moved here recently because I love the beauty of this region in particular and Scotland more generally. In the coming years I intend to explore much of this landscape. I'm an experienced walker in both Britain and abroad but I take a very relaxed approach to walking with no hurry or mileage or peak targets to meet. I just love being in beautiful landscapes and enjoying the wonders of nature. I usually carry binoculars with me to observe any wildlife that puts in an appearance and Scotland has plenty to offer in this regard. I'm friendly and easy going and enjoy socialising. A visit to a nice pub with good company, food and beer is a perfect end to a day's walk. If any of this sounds interesting to you and you fancy joining me then please don't hesitate to get in touch. Best wishes for rewarding walking, John.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near Wellington hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Stu, 48, looking for platonic friends to go walking with, and general socialising locally. Although I don't mind walking on my own, I would really like to meet like minded people who want to have enjoyable times out in the nicer parts of our country. Dartmoor is my favourite walking area locally, also very keen on the coast, The Quantocks, Exmoor, Cornwall. Further afield Snowdonia and Scotland. These are the places I know a bit, also happy to discover new places of course. Friendly and relaxed people preferred!, either gender, any age, Humans and Canines who like a nice walk, distance depending on the terrain, the weather, what we feel like etc. I'm self employed so can often be flexible about times to go out, although most Sundays I'm with my partner. I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Keswick hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am a 59 year old single male living in the Lake District. I enjoy being outdoors walking, running, cycling and camping.

I am fit and competent and enjoy a challenging walk or an easy walk and I like to take in the views whichever - I don't want to be too serious about it! I am open to any level of walk as it's sometimes good to just get out and it's always good to find a good pub or cafe at the end. It's the simple things in life that appeal to me most. I like to see the beauty in natural surroundings, love woods especially in autumn, watching and listening to birds, sun rise and sun set, starry skies, wood smoke, the scent of gorse flower in the summer.

I am looking to meet a woman who enjoys being outdoors amongst other things. Your location isn't too important - I am prepared to travel to meet for a walk as I enjoy walking in many areas. I'm not into exchanging emails for too long but prefer to talk, then maybe meet, see what happens and just take it from there.

My boring details are I'm single with no children or any other ties. I'm 5'8" and slim build.

Hope to hear from you!

I am a Male Walker, in my early 70s, based near Bridlington hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Based in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, I'm Looking for a female walking companion for leisurely walks locally and also the Dales and Cumbria. An interest in playing badminton and playing/liking acoustic guitar would be great (or prepared to give it a go)

I'm 70, slim, 5' 6" and reasonably fit but I'm not the fastest on ascents. I've managed Blencathra, Langdale Pikes, Skiddaw, Scafell Pike and others. I'm a bit reserved until I get to know people - but I like a good laugh etc. Interests include singing, acoustic guitar, Badminton, photography, walking and social history (such as the Wordsworths in Cumbria).

If you'd like to join me sometime please reply to my box number above. thanks.

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Wallasey hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi I'm Dave a 65 year old male looking for a female walking companion. I live on the Wirral and generally walk in Wales, the Northern fells (Yorkshire & Cumbria) and Scotland. I completed the Munros a quite few years ago and am gradually working my way through other hill lists. I head up to Scotland regularly and have a cottage near Torridon.

Happy to do some low level walks, but prefer to gain some height for the views and exercise. Fairly fit and prefer to keep a steady pace, stopping to look at the scenery and wildlife, but can crack on when needed. Most of the walks I do are grade 5-9+. Have a car and drive a lot!

Generally walk at weekends, but can walk mid-week as I am retired, though I do spend time on other hobbies such as DIY, cooking and underground exploration.

Good sense of direction and can navigate reliably in difficult conditions. Easy going with a sense of humour and enjoy conversation. Like to visit a pub afterwards for a drink.

If you are interesting in joining me then please get in touch.

A bit more about me:

I love Scrambling & Edges - the more exposure the better. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. Even if I say so myself, I consider my map reading & navigation skills to be excellent. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

My Message: Hi, my name is John and I am single. I love to go walking and am looking for a like minded female as a companion. I m a rounded individual with interests in current affairs, other outdoor activities and developing interests in art and local history
I am semi retired self employed so am available both midweek and weekends for walks.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 50s, based near Warrington hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi I'm Neil, I'm a 53 year old male, I have completed the 214 Wainwrights twice and the 116 Outlying Fells and love nothing more than been out in the Lake District in all weathers. I enjoy been in the hills, no matter where, England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. I spend virtually every Saturday out walking and would welcome some company, male or female, individually or in a small group. I am an experienced map reader and tend to start at first light to be out before the crowds. I mix my routes between The Wainwrights, The Outlying Fells, The Howgills, The Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire Moors, The Peak District and Snowdonia.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Bath hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: In 2016 I almost did the John Muir Trail in California but couldn't complete it having fallen badly and damaged a knee. To do the JMT I had to do a lot of training mostly in Wales carrying weight. In 2018, I'm booked to do it again, starting my training shortly. I am looking for a partner(s) to join in some of the training with me who doesn't mind some wild camping and a bit of adventure. Unfortunately, none of my friends have the time to join me. I am experienced with the hills and mountains of the UK having climbed most major peaks in all weathers. Pretty good navigator and I am fit for my age but not a fast walker, more a speedy plodder. I love the outdoors and mountains especially. I mainly walk at weekends as I work but can stretch to long weekends. Just been hiking in the Bavarian Alps - lovely place. Thanks, Andrew

I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near Burntwood.

My Message: Hi Ive been a member of this site for sometime and am just returning to it from a long absence.
I particularly enjoy walking and camping in the Peak District and the Brecon Beacons.
I was in the military for a long time so enjoy all levels of gradient and am up for a challenge, most of the time.
I love to take my dogs with me when I walk although the border terrier (Laughing Gravy) is getting a little old now.
I'm out of the UK a lot and so finding friends to walk with can be difficult.
I hope that I can arrange meets with similar minded people for long mountainous walks and strolls.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Alfreton.

My Message: Hi fellow walkers, living in North East Derbyshire gives me easy access to the Peak District and Wales, Northumberland and the Lakes are 3-4 hours away and need a lot more exploration. The closer I am to water, the better. I am happy to walk 10-15miles (and have done 22 by accident, a longer story...), scrambling is not my forte (fear of heights...I know) but standing on top of a hill feels so good. Could you help me with my map reading? I don't get lost, I just find new places in unexpected ways and it may take a bit longer to get back home but those walks turn out to be the best. That's the adventurer in me. This adventurer has a tent in the car just in case, sets off for France without a fixed plan or goes out on the motorbike to see what's round the next corner. Once I sit down I read, write, play Scrabble and enjoy the views over the open countryside from the patio. Outdoors is a good place and I'd love to hear from you if you want to share it. I have joined a couple of walking groups and they are very welcoming but not all walks have to be with a bunch of people. If you want to join me solo or with the bunch please get in touch and let's see where it takes us.
Safe walking, Karen

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Nantwich.

My Message: Hi
I am 62,female and looking for walking companions or groups. My level of walking is up to about grades 7/8.
I am fit and fun, as well as able to go the distance. I walk at a steady pace with no forced marches or unseemly need to prove myself. Took up walking 3 years ago, so very amateur in maps etc. Want to get to know different parts of the Lakes and Snowdonia at weekends and even some weekdays. This year have done Annapurna base camp, toubkal Morocco, picos dos europas, and Everest base camp 2 weeks ago.Love the Himalayas. South America and others await.
Please contact me if you are interested.
Jackie
