I am a Male Walker, in my late 30s, based near Derbyshire.

My Message: Hi all. I'm a 37 year old male from Derby, whom has quite recently developed a passion for the great outdoors - a passion, unfortunately, not shared with my city-going friends. My walking boots don't get to see anywhere near as much terrain as they deserve to, and I'm hoping that this website can change that.

I am therefore, looking for some company, male or female - age not an issue - who enjoys the walking, the fresh air, the exercise, and especially the scenery as much as I do. Whether it's a quiet, easy stroll, or something more demanding over several days, I really don't mind. The weather is also not a problem to me - like any sensible person, I prefer the sun to be in the sky and a mild breeze to be in the air, but I also enjoy walks in varying climates as long as I remember to pack the correct gear! :-)

If anybody reading this post feels in a similar situation, then please get in touch and drop me a message.

I look forward to responding. Thanks. Matt.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Poole.

My Message: Hello my name is Carole. I live in Dorset. I walk at least 5kms every day as I have a very energetic young dog. At the weekends we walk upto 23kms each day over beautiful heathland - so I am fit when it comes to dog walking. I love the outdoors, enjoying the peace and solitude of nature. I want to expand my horizons and do some serious walking but not alone as tend to get lost however not interested in walking with an organised group. I work full time so weekends are mainly when I'm available. I am always up for a challenge and adventure - my last challenge was sailing, now seeking something different on land and planning to do the Camino de Santiago in 2017 so need to start training. Is there anyone out there who would like company on their walks?

I am a Female Walker, in my early 70s, based near Buxton.

My Message: While I am still able to put one foot in front of the other, I would like to find some walking company with whom to discover even more of the Peak District where I now live.

I am articulate, I love the English language & have even been known to read the dictionary - how sad is that! I also have a wicked sense of humour and laugh a lot. I love animals and have a lovely young dog to share my home with, but really miss having another human being to share things with - like getting into walking gear to explore beautiful scenery and wild walks in the countryside, or at other times scrubbing up to go to a concert.

I am always keen to learn more about even seemingly remote subjects - self development is very close to my heart and over all I am usually pretty positive. I write articles for Derbyshire magazines and thoroughly enjoy the research side of it - we are so lucky to have the internet as a resource, certainly less bulky to use a laptop than the Encyclopaedia Britannica!!

When one is left living on one's own, there are so many every day bonuses that one misses - that lovely day's walk in beautiful scenery with the sun beaming down is so much more important when shared, the joint emotions of listening to stunningly moving music, as is cooking a superb meal and eating it with another (hopefully appreciative) human soul. Just as vital is the sharing of down times - they always say a trouble shared is a trouble halved, & how true that is. I used to adore having 'silly moments' when something like Fawlty Towers tickled you both so much that you both ended up laughing hysterically and by the end neither really even remembered what they were laughing at!

I'm accomplished at many diverse things, such as cooking but dislike cooking for one, and currently absolutely yearn for some highly intelligent, stimulating conversation which I have failed to get from my dog; if I can combine that with getting out into the countryside, please get in touch.

Regards,
Deborah

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Worcestershire.

My Message: Hello, my name is Alex, I am a well spoken, well educated male, fit, slim, single, 55 year old, living in a beautiful, rural area of Worcestershire. I received an email a couple of years ago from a chum who was backpacking his way around New Zealand, and he was encouraging me to get off my bottom, see more of this island, and perhaps join a walking club.... so here I am!

In February 2016 I had a major operation, but all is well now thankfully. Initially, I would like to gently ease my way back into walking, until full fitness is restored. I regularly used to walk the Malvern Hills, all through the Cotswolds, and have done many, many miles in the West of Ireland when I lived there. I still want to walk my regular walks, but now I have a mind to cast my net wider, in search of some fresh challenges and experiences. My ideal companion who I would like to join me? Female, slim, bright, optimistic, good company, has a sense of direction (as my map reading ability is very rusty). Someone who would be happy to have a few well deserved drinks and a pub meal at the end of the day. I no longer have a dog, so if you do happen to have a four-legged friend who loves the outdoor life, and who of course loves me too, then even better. I have plenty of time on my hands, during the week and at weekends, and I drive, so if you are looking for some genial and intelligent company along the way, perhaps we should make a plan.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Storrington.

My Message: I'm new to living in West Sussex, just north of the South Downs. I adore walking, exploring, finding new routes, sometimes using the map and sometimes not using the map. I normally walk alone and I'm comfortable with the liberating feeling that gives me, especially when I have my camera. Having walking companions would be marvellous though, maybe a bit nostalgic too. I walk around 5 or 6 miles right now, more not to aggravate a dodgy calf muscle, but that distance may well increase. I'm in my early fifties but I'm fit and nimble and walk quite fast (though slow down or stop randomly when something catches my attention!). My interests are wide and I love an intellectual or out of the box conversation. I haven't read too many novels - too busy enjoying being outside.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 20s, based near St Ives, Cornwall.

My Message: Having only lived in Cornwall for the last few years, I am still exploring - coming from the Cotswolds, I do miss trees(!), so I am most happy kicking up the leaves on a woodland walk, although Cornwall has some amazing coastal/ moorland walks that I really love. It would of course be nice to share a walk with someone, once in a while; so anyone who likes to stroll casually, preferably likes scones and doesn't mind bats - then we're likely to get on...

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Crawley.

My Message: Hello my name is Sheena a non-smoker and 55 who lives in Crawley. I see myself as reasonable fit for my age and regular do the Brighton Marathon to keep me active, but my passion is long walks.

I sometimes wonder off for several hours round the local area to discover I just walked 14 miles across country. But it would be nice to have a male or female walking companion to share this with. Particularly someone who would like to meet up regularly to explore trails and paths around Sussex and Surrey and occasionally plan an adventure further afield.

I work full-time so the weekends are best for me and particularly interested in doing 10-16 miles plus walks, but not a race as I like to look at the scenery, smell the flowers and listen to the wild life, saying that, not a Sunday stroll either, not bothered about the terrain and happy with pubs, picnic and tearoom.

I do drive so can travel and meet up.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 20s, based near West Bretton.

My Message: Hi everyone, my names Laura and I'm 22 years old. I'm looking for a walking partner from Monday - Friday in and around Yorkshire/Derbyshire. I wouldn't say I'm one of the fittest out there but I'm definitely working towards getting better and better. At the moment I'm currently walking 6/7 miles a day in all sorts of terrain alone, so I'm just looking for someone to witness the beauty of the outdoors with me. I love all things vintage, absolutely love history (especially the classical history) and I tend to 'get on with' people of a higher age than me. Men and women my age into walking/hiking is incredibly hard to find. I would like to point out after reading some other adverts that I am looking for something purely platonic as I am not single. There is no filter on my ad on whom I'm looking for, whether it's a gentle troll or a tougher hike I am absolutely happy in both elements.

Look forward to hearing from you!
Laura.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Nantwich.

My Message: Hi,

I live in Nantwich. My wife and friends are not keen on mountains or high places so I sometimes walk with groups (clubs, walking festivals or charity events). Other times I walk alone. I am looking for new friends for occasional day or weekend walks (male, female or small group).

I'm easy going, and always up for a laugh. Ideally I prefer mountain walks in wild places, ridge walks, edge walks, anything with some elevation and views really. A bit of scrambling is always a welcome bonus. Also I like overnight walks to take in the sunrise over the mountains when conditions allow. Happy to do some lower level walks though particularly if the weather is bad. Ok with map and compass, never get lost, though occasionally I get delayed ;-)

Some people have said that I walk fairly fast, I’m not sure really so I went up Snowdon on one of the easy paths, good weather and an 8kg pack. Took just under 2 hours from car park to summit (about 4 miles and 3,000 ft. ) I think that is a steady relaxed pace but might be fast for some people, slow for others. (I can walk faster or slower though) Distance is no problem, really depends on the terrain but long or shorter days are fine.

Happy staying in Youth hostels, bunkhouses, camping, bivvy bag on a hill, etc.

My Favorite place to walk is Snowdonia (still plenty more to explore) but I would like to spend a bit more time on the high fells in the Lake District this summer and possibly do the Yorkshire 3 peaks (never done it but no idea why not). Scotland would also be good but may have to wait due to available time.

Open to suggestions for any new challenges, via ferrata, Caving, Sea to Summit, Perhaps Lakeland 3000s or Welsh 3000s (probably over a weekend though as I don’t think I am fit enough to do either of these in the 24 hours) I plan to retire in about 2 years so I will have more time for bigger adventures but for now I am limited to weekends though I can usually get away early on Fridays.

I love dogs, don’t have one at present but Border Collies are my favorite breed. I like them all though so if you have a dog that likes to walk that would be great.

If you fancy meeting up for a walk sometime please get in touch, I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

Dave.

My Message: Hi. My name is Rodger and I've recently moved to Chester from London and I'm looking to meet a fellow walking buddy or group or just to make new friends. I'm currently training for a trek in the Himalayas in October/November so am up for a long hike at the weekends or a shorter local walk midweek. Obviously Snowdonia will be my first choice but am willing to travel, Peaks/Lakes/Dales or maybe a weekend away in Scotland. Feel free to send me a message, Rodger.

My Message: Hi,
I used to be a keen walker but seemed to have fallen off the beaten track for a while. With a bit more spare time (weekends) it would be good to get back into it again. I'm happy on any type of walk, whether it be the local Peckforton Hills, the Peak district, Wales or the Lakes and I'm ok with a map and compass. I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Northallerton.

My Message: I love walking in the Cumbrian Mountains, the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors but, unfortunately, have nowhere near enough opportunities to get away and do so during term time. You may now have figured out that I am a teacher! I run the Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award scheme for my school and I am a qualified ML(S). I am happy to walk solo but it's much more fun to walk with a companion. Most of my colleagues run a mile when I suggest a walk or a night's wild camping. So if any one is out there who might like to get together for a day out on fells or Dales; maybe even two, please get in touch. Tom

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Kendal.

My Message: Hello I am John and have recently moved into the south lakes area. I am looking for a walking companion male / female to join me on walks grade 3-4-5-6-7.
I am recently retired and enjoy walking, sailing, basically anything which gets me outside into this wonderful area. I enjoy both hill walks and occasionally walking along a river or around a lake.
I have a well behaved rescued blue roan cocker spaniel who also enjoys a good walk so another dog would not be a problem.
At the end of a walk there is nothing better than a drink and maybe a pub lunch.
look forward to hearing from any like minded person.

I am a Female Walker, in my late 30s, based near Nantwich.

My Message: Hi, I've lived round here for a few years now but am yet to find some like minded walking buddies who are not tied up with small children and the likes. I would really love to get out there into the great outdoors on some proper walks. I do lots of little dog walking ones locally but I'd really love to get over to North Wales for example or the Lakes or anywhere I can really escape from Nantwich. It seems such a waste to have all that on my doorstep and not make use of it!! So I'm hoping to find some like-minded people or a walking group I can go with so please do get in touch if your interested and not too far away.

My Message: Looking for a hiking partner this weekend. Snowdonia.tryfan and glyders. Routes all planned. Early start Saturday back Monday. Or join me for a day. Been let down by friends.not superfit so leisurely pace.
Any takers.
Hi i Love the outdoors and have been peak bagging for a few years. But not in a geeky way. Not into football and stuff so decided to start peak bagging as I needed a thing.
Climbed most peaks in the beacons and several in snowdonia and the lakes. Love walking can't get friends to join me so getting a bit lonely. I don't take it too seriously but love a challenge and s drink or three at the end of the day. Think I'm a normal non weird or axe murderer type. Similar traits appreciated. I am a Male Walker, in my early 70s, based near London.

My Message: I live in North London. I enjoy day walks in the Home Counties with a walking club I've belonged to for some years. I am interested in going further afield with another walker (m or f) for more than day hikes, perhaps revisiting some of the English national trails I walked in past decades. I don't rule out Wales or Scotland where I also know some areas. I like classical music, pub conversation, reading, crossword solving, planning and leading walks. I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near South Lakes, Cumbria.

My Message: Hi, I am a straight single female looking for walking companions/buddies Female and Male, in their 30's/40's /50's -hopefully forming good friendships, and walking buddies, to have a good laugh and chat along the way. I act and look much younger than my years. I don't take life too seriously and have a very good sense of humour. I love nature/wildlife, photography, and to end the walk at a tearoom or pub.
My preferred area is the Lake District (as I live in the Lakes), and Yorkshire Dales, but I 'am open to walking other areas such as Snowdonia, Scotland, etc.
I am a fit and active person, always up for adventure, who enjoys walking the high Lake District Fells, including some scrambling, but I also enjoy walking the valleys or along the lakeshores.
I have recently taken up to indoor climbing too.
I love Scotland and have been to the Trossachs and the Isle of Skye and trekked some of the Cuillins and the Quiraing which gave me a taste to trek more Munro's.
I have completed all 214 Wainwrights and The Pennine Way.
I like to take in the scenery and photographs along my walks, not frogmarch straight to the top! I don't mind any length of walk, but on average a good walk of 8-15 miles or even more is fab!
I hope to hear from you.
Ps- Border Collies are my favourite breed of dog!
