new Female Walker, 55, based near Lincoln

Message: Hi there, my name is Jan, I am fairly fit and like to keep active. Love walking and until 5 years ago, lived near to the lovely hills of Derbyshire. Now living in Lincolnshire and have not done as much walking as I would like to, miss the hills, so looking for a like-minded person who enjoys the outdoors. I am fairly easy going person with a good sense of humour (laughter is definitely the best medicine), will have a go at most things at least once, and have a zest for life. Happy to walk up to about 12 miles, enjoy both short and long walks, a stroll or ramble, country or coast, especially if there's a lovely pub meal at the end of it.

Message: Hi -.. I discovered the great outdoors only 4 years ago and since then, never stopped walking. There is nothing better than getting out in the fresh air - away from the towns and climbing up to the highest point and taking in the scenery. I also enjoy short leisurely walks along the canal, treking, mountaineering. It would be great to meet up with fellow walkers ( I also enjoy mountain biking but not extreme) I dont mind walking in all weathers. My boyfriend and I are realising that most of our friends do not appreciate our beautiful countryside therefore we are finding that we have less in common. It would be nice to meet up with other couples who enjoy the same things. Hope to hear from you.

new Male Walker, 43, based near Leeds

Message: I first started walking about six years ago & really started to enjoy myself right from the start. I don't mind short one day walks, but always prefer when possible to do a full weekend or longer multi day walk when ever i get the chance. Never use B&B unless I'm forced - always preferring instead to use either hostels & bunk barns when available as I find them much more friendly places & far better value for money. I always give myself the option of camping on walks so always carry full eqp't when I'm away - quite happy to both wild camp & walk in all weather conditions too. Over the years I've always walked alone as I find this allows me to use my good map reading skills to plan my own routes & walk at my own pace. Although you meet others while walking it still tends to get a bit boring sometimes & i often wish I'd someone else to chat to. I tried group walking about 18 months ago & although its very friendly I don't think it's quite what I'm looking for. I'd like to get to meet another walker - preferably a female of around the same age & ability, who's also into my style of walking & who also has quite a lot of spare time on their hands. Due to carrying all this kit I'm not looking for the kind of walks where you've got to go racing up a steep mountain side like a bionic rat up a drain pipe! only to give yourself cardiac arrest - no fun in that!!! Trying to get a photo on here at the moment too, but having problems - give it another try.

Message: Hi, my name is Carol. Hoping to find people who love disappearing into the middle of nowhere. . . which isn't always as far away as you think!!! I don't mind wind and rain, so long as there is a hot shower, a long drink, good food and good company at the end of the day. I usually go for one day walks, but happy with any length, would like to get into a full weekend, so if you own and know how to pitch a tent thats a plus. My son occasionally joins me, but I would relish the adult company. I try to get out most weekends and at least one weekday a month, when I can guarantee to be child free. So if anybody is interested feel free to get in touch.

Message: Hi, I've been walking on and off for as long as I can remember and never seem to go long without planning one route or another. I'm happy on any type of walk whether it be the local Pecforton Hills or the higher peaks of Wales and the Lakes. I'm pretty good with a map and compass and happy to lead or follow. I've also been cycling for the same amount of time and happy to do either. If you would like to meet up for a walk/cycle it would be nice to hear from you.

new Male Walker, 50, based near Carlisle

Message: Hi all, I am a jovial, fun and can be a chatterbox with the right company, and surroundings I am confident with. Normally I am quiet and reserved, I like to observe, take in my surroundings, and make decisions based on my capabilities and safety for both myself and others. . . that said, I can be a bit of a Daredevil if I put my mind to it!! I like trying new and some oddball/ obscure things to do! Like sitting in a deckchair outside in the snow having a BBQ in Wales on Boxing Day. . But then again mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun!. . . Question is. . they must have been having a dream, I have not seen much Sun recently. . does it exist. . Does anyone fancy coming out walking and camping, in search of this holy grail. . . That UFO- the SUN !! I am sure we will get rained on in the process. . . This is Britain. . . . Come Shine or Heavy Rain/ Snow!! I would normally prefer to travel as greenly as possible, by bicycle, on foot, using public transport etc, ( I have a car licence-but no car). I usually find most walks start in obscure places away from Bus/Train stops/ stations, so finding my way around places can be interesting to say the least!. . . . At least if I take my many photographs, I might be able to find my way back on my Digital photo path, assuming the camera batteries have not gone flat!!! So if you fancy some Left of centre intelligent and sometimes rambling conversations with a choatic forgetful, late for his tea and sometimes oddball guy, then I am your man. . . If you are a conventional person who smokes like a chimney, please keep on walking past my profile. . . . I like Wild camping, I live in the Wilds of North Cumbria and I like the Wilder side of Life!!? Anyone fancy a brew???? and a BBQ midge sandwich?? I hope there are some other outdoor nuts about??

Message: Hi, I walk regularly in all weathers and though I like getting up somewhere reasonably high (love Tryfan) I'm happy walking the valleys and dales too. I walk to see what's there, not to tick it off and so don't believe it's necessary to do distance or height just for the sake of it. I also enjoy camping , windsurfing and occasional cycling. I'm outgoing, fit, dependable and a fairly competent navigator. I'm looking for someone of similar ilk but female to join me, age isn't important, but you must be a non smoker so if you would like to see more of our wonderful country and mix it with good company, lively conversation ( light hearted or serious ), plenty of laughter, and an after walk meal or drink then write. I'm free most weekends and occasional weekdays too. Chris

Message: Hi, i'm Sarah and I am looking for like-minded people who are interested in getting out and about and exploring the countryside. I am up for short local walks or longer adventures further afield. I have a tiny lurcher so if you like dogs great, but I am happy to go out without her on more adventurous walks. I also do a bit of cycling, running, swimming and horse riding and I'm an occasional climber. Basically I like being outside for as long as possible in my free time! Message: Hi - am 40, happily married and living in the Bolton area. . . so not looking for romance! Am relatively fit and active and looking to build walking fitness so I can do some long distance walking next year. Thinking nice intermediate fells in Lakes rather than full on peaks in the mist, ice and rain. Have some basic map reading skills but anyone who knows more than me would be welcome! I am happy to hostel or camp and have shared ownership of a knackered tent that has seen some muddy fields...Looking forward to hearing from you.

Female Walker, 55, based near Stoke-on-Trent

Message: According to my birth certificate I'm 55, but I'll be forever 21 in my head. Looking for a special person to enhance my happy life and hopefully I'll bring some sunshine into theirs. I walk alone or with various friends - I enjoy some conversation and banter not to mention a cake and coffee - I know a wide range of such establishments! I prefer less challenging walks - I'm not in training for the SAS! - ideally 5to 8 miles but can do more, especially on a long summer day. Quite partial to a spontaneous walk after work on a nice evening - perhaps along the canal to a pub for a nice pub meal. I also like weekends away, holidays, classic car shows, eating out, mooching around interesting towns and villages and many other things. I'm 5ft 7in and slimmish. Independent with a dry sense of humour. If you are tallish (over 5ft 10in), not too overweight, and a non smoker perhaps you'd like to come for a stroll with me

Female Walker, 45, based near Liverpool

Message: Hi my name is Lee, and I live Liverpool. I have decided to update this message as I have walked quite a few routes now thanks to a very good mate Tom who I met through this site. We tend to walk every other weekend, which in the winter is probably enough. I say that after us doing Hellvelyn in the freezing cold. I may want to try to do a little more in the Summer. For me as much as I love walking but I also love admiring the view, maybe sneak in a little bit of rest while having a chat and a laugh. I'm a Mum but my son is now 15 and I am very much surplus to requirements. The day has come to soon but I have to accept the fact that I have been dumped for his mates. I do have friends but they are really not interested in the idea of walking, not sure why. The downside is I dont drive so would need to be able to get to the walks via public transport. So if I can get there via a train it's ideal. If you are interested in helping me out, drop me a line x

Message: Hi I've joined this site in a hope to find some new friends to have fun with and share some nice days out walking. I'm originally from Scotland but moved to South Cheshire a few years ago so fairly new to the place & looking to explore. I have done a bit of hill walking in the past but like everything else you get lazy so I'm looking to use this as an excuse to get fit again because I'd really like to do the 3 peaks challenge. I have three dogs all Cavalier King Charles Spaniels which i would like to take walking with me (not on the harder routes though) so if you have a dog or don't mind fury animals then I would love to hear from you whether it be a lazy stroll or something a bit more energetic!.

Message: Hi there, Well I am a bit new to this so here goes! I have always loved the outdoors and with my current job am out in all conditions and away from home for periods of time. I would like to meet up with anyone from near to the west midlands of a similar age to explore all types of walking routes in the area and further afield. I am reasonable fit for my age and trying to get fitter and more healthy, so hope maybe getting out walking could kill two birds with one stone and meet people and get fit! I would like to do challanges liek the three peaks in the future but must get out and about first! I did do snowdon a few years ago but would not mind doing it again maybe a different way as it was really foggy when we went up!!

Message: Hi, I'm Graham, new to this site, but thought i'd give it a go! I'm 47, and a farmer, which keeps me fit, and contrary to popular belief, we do get time off!! I have a million hobbies, but walking, and especially up in the hills and mountains of this beautiful country of ours is my passion. Do have some walking friends, but most would rather sit infront of a TV, so looking for more like minded people, with the same passion, who love being on top of the roof of the world :) Have hill walked everywhere, but have recently discovered Snowdonia, which is strange, as it's been on my doorstep most of my life, and i'm in love hehe. If you fancy a good yomp up a mountain, some chat and some laughs. . . and maybe food and drink in a pub on the way home, then what are you waiting for, come and say hi :)

Male Walker, 47, based near High Peak / Western Lake District

Message: Hello, I am 47, single, active Dad to three children who live with me half the time in the Peak District. We also have a farm in the western part of the Lake District. I looking for a female walking (and cycling ? ) companion for day walks and some weekends. For the first time in many years I have some time to spend doing what I love - walking and cycling, and whilst I am self-contained it would be great to find a good companion to share that time. If that sounds like your cup of tea, I hope to hear from you. Happy to email a photo - just a bit internet shy. Thanks.

Male Walker, 65, based near Wigan

Message: Hi, I have not done much walking for a few years but I am longing to get back into the countryside and link with my passion for photography. Would prefer to walk with individuals, male or female, or small groups. If anyone from the Wigan/Winstanley area uses this site and would like to form a walking group please feel free to contact me. Love walking in the Lakes in particular. I have done many low level walks there up to about 7 miles. Ending the walk with a glass of something, preferably red, is always good as is a meal when time allows. Know retired so able to walk any day Monday to Saturday and some Sundays. Look forward to hearing from like minded people. Best wishes, Dave.
