new Male Walker, 55, based near Berkeley

Message: Hi, I hope you are well? Update 12.11.17 I am still a single 55 year old man and am looking for a walking partner to get me back into my walking boots, I ruptured my Achilles Tendon a couple of years ago and have not really done any walks since apart from a couple of 6 mile ones. I can often be seen around the countryside with my camera and tripod, trying to take a photo of some wildlife, usually feathered birds :-)I hope to find someone who is willing to take things steady at first to see how far I can get myself back up to. I work as a lorry driver and so am not as fit as I was before the injury when my job at the time was a more active one. Friends are good and if I found a partner out of this then I would feel very lucky.

new Male Walker, 61, based near Belvedere

Message: Hello, I'm Tim, 61, fit, active, lots of energy and stamina, looking for a female walking companion. Any age or ethnic origin is welcome, but I am an atheist, and there's not much point in us being too philosophically dissimilar. I live on the London/Kent border but have walked extensively in all areas of England and Wales and bits of Scotland (only the distance has kept me from doing more). Have walked most hills in the Lake District and Snowdonia and nearly all the national trails and many others. I love the UK coast and am always ready to walk any part of it, as well as local paths such as the North Downs Way and South Downs Way. In fact, I'll walk anywhere and at any time - it's what I love to do. Hopefully I'm well-rounded and I also love music, books, maps, nature, history, buildings, etc. Friends have said that I'm funny, kind, intelligent, sensitive, a good conversationalist - still, what do they know? Any companion would hopefully soon be a friend but I'm very open for this to develop into a girlfriend/soulmate/life partner situation. And if it doesn't there'd still be a good walking friendship. If any of this appeals I'd love to hear from you.

Female Walker, 48, based near Somerset

Message: I like nothing more than a day walk, any time of year, whatever the weather. I prefer a more challenging walk over a stroll. I love being amongst nature, I find it very calming and grounding after a set of shifts. I'd like to find a fit walking friend who doesn't mind what the weather brings. I am not looking for a relationship, just a likeminded individual to share some pleasant hikes with. I work unsocial hours and three weekends out of four at present (good old nhs) but have plenty of free days midweek.

Female Walker, 63, based near Cirencester

Message: Hi I'm Karen. I'm single and now that I am retired I have a lot more time to go walking just for an afternoon or a day (week days and weekends) or for weeks. I'd like to meet up with other walkers to continue to do the SW Coast Path (I have done form Poole to nearly Plymouth and am happy to do other bits in any order), Offa's Dyke, the Coast to Coast or West Highland Way from 2017 onwards. I've walked the Thames Path from my home as I live on the Wiltshire / Gloucestershire borders, as well as most of my local walks and many more all over the UK - on my own and many in groups; always much more fun and interesting. I have a car and am happy to travel and go for walks all over the UK and abroad; I will tackle hills; have done Snowdon and other fairly high spots like the Jurassic Coast but my knees now really prefer fewer or shorter or less steep climbs. I love watching for wildlife along the way and would love to share the scenery and enjoyment with male or female friends. Its great to have a bit of a laugh and a chat along the way, especially if interspersed with stop offs for a cuppa or at a pub.

Message: Hello. I love walking and would enjoy meeting new people (male or female) to walk with. I have 3 dogs (a cocker spaniel, a terrier cross and recently acquired a rescue dog from Bulgaria who is a black and cream fluffy mixed breed about collie size but looks like a miniature husky) the 2 older dogs are very well behaved and the young pup (9 months) is getting there. I love my dogs, but would enjoy the company of human beings too! I can walk quite long distances, but need to do a bit of 'view appreciation' during longer uphill climbs. I live on the outskirts of Gloucester, but am happy to travel within reason. I have a tent and like to go camping in the better weather.

I would like to walk any where and everywhere and would like to get better at map reading and learn more about walking/ walks. Would like to do some serious walks - Pennine way etc... Message: Hello I live in north of Bristol and go walking with friends in the areas I've ticked, but would like to meet some new people to enjoy walking with at weekends. Anything from 6 to 12 miles is good for me. I like footpaths rather than lanes and anywhere that has amazing views and archaeology to explore. I can drive or happy to take public transport to get to a circular walk route. Think I'm OK company, happy to chat along the way with other walkers. Most of all love the here and now of being out there (a pint along the way goes down well too!) Helen

Message: I'm looking to improve my fitness and meet new people. I work outdoors and love to walk in all weathers over all terrain, usually with a borrowed dog, ideally stopping for refreshment in a lovely old pub or national trust tea shop. I'm not hardcore! More of a cart horse than a racehorse, steady, good endurance but not going to win any races! I love to walk the southwest coastal paths and spend as much time as I can in the summer months heading down the M5 in my camper van. I'm well travelled and always up for adventure. My favourite ever walk was in the Himalayas, trekking up to Annapurna base camp, I would love to return to Nepal for another trekking holiday in the not to distant future. Living in Bristol I'm ideally placed for walks in the Brecon Beacons, Mendips, Cotswolds, Exmoor, Dartmoor, Jurassic coast, I also love the fact I can walk from my front door into countryside in 25mins. I love city living as I'm a culture vulture, I love the arts and often go to the theartre, exhibitions, comedy and gigs and a least one festival over the summer. My inner country girl is happy on my vegetable plot, returning home to cook the fresh organic produce. I'm easy going with a big hearty laugh and a huge appetite for fun. . . and cake!

Message: Hi, my name is Dave. Having given up work to be a full time carer for my wife who had Motor Neurone Disease, I now sadly find I have a lot of spare time on my hands and would like to get back outdoors walking in company with one or more like-minded people. I am active and healthy, with interests in walking and hiking, cycling, and sailing. For now I am looking for friendship or companionship for day or weekend walking. In due course I would like to find someone for longer hiking trips, either in the UK or abroad. Used to regularly walk up to 10 - 12 miles per day in the hills, although I am very happy to do shorter and flatter walks especially initially as my legs probably need a bit of retraining.

Message: Looking for someone to share a walk with, most distance , pace and terrain.Have been talked into walking the Camino De Santiago across Spain for a second time 2016, having done it in 2012, so need to get out and build my fitness up again.Really I'm looking for regular walking buddies to share the experience and fun with, however if the right person literally walks into my life then that is great too.I love the outdoors and try and get out as much as possible, often with the rabid mutt ,my little crazy dog. When not working , walking or dreaming ,I can be found painting or crafting , so the odd visit to a art gallery ,craft show or theatre/concert is also a passion for me.Love music of many genres and Love to laugh and seek the funnier things in life, also the simple things, a good sunset , open fire or even the odd night under the stars cooking with good company and good food.I have lived a life of many adventures and changes and still have more to explore, quite a gypsy heart at times , slowly settling down a little , would like to share the next adventure with someone preferably. I am pretty flexible with work, can be available most weekends and sometimes week days. Don't mind a good hard walk as a training day but do also love a steady stroll to take in the scenery and the sounds. Walking to me is many things. a time to think , a time to push myself , a time to get away from the madness of the other world , a time to be alone or most importantly a time to share with people of many paths in life. At the moment I'm in Lincolnshire but looking at moving south next year, Somerset , Devon , Cornwall direction so heading down that way soon for a recce and maybe the odd walk or two, if anyone down that way cares to join me for a walk or has some suggestions that would be great.

Male Walker, 27, based near Ross-on-wye

Message: Hi there - my name's Alec and I'm 27yrs old. I currently live in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire. I'm an avid outdoors guy looking to develop a new circle of friendship with like-minded individuals - very mature for my age. Happy to walk one-on-one or as part of a group. I'm very sociable and very much enjoy a good challenge. I'm looking for somone to go hiking/trekking with all over the place - not going to restrict myself to one area. I like to 'get away' I must admit. Love to get out and explore and whilst I've not been camping for a while, would certainly do this with the right person/people. Happy to take on all sorts of hikes/treks - whether strenuous or moderate. Am open to travelling to meet etc and vice versa. Am looking for mid-length / long-distance walks - 10 miles +. Am doing the Mountain Trail Challenge in Brecon Beacons on 12/09/15. Am also looking to do the 3 Peaks Challenge next year so need to increase fitness etc. Definitely enjoy good conversation and a drink at the end (or a cheeky pitstop) of a walk to socialise and get to know people better. If you're interested in arranging something, please do get in touch. I'd love to hear from you. Cheers, Alec

Female Walker, 43, based near Crewkerne

Message: Hi, my name is Anne, I'm a bubbly, outgoing and single lady. I used to go walking between 8 and 11 miles most weekends up to some years ago. I've recently started to get back into walking on a regular basis & although I can go walking by myself, I do not think this is much fun, plus I am not very good at map reading. Hence I would really like to meet new people/walking partners (female/male) to go walking with and build some new friendships along the way. If you would be willing to assist me in increasing my ability in reading maps, this would be most welcomed too. It's also nice to visit a pub or cafe either on route to have a drink and/or a bite to eat; or after finishing a walk. Though I have picked certain national parks and counties; I would be willing to consider other areas and I have never been to Scotland and would love to visit sometime. I can drive and I'm available most weekends. If you like what you see and would like to know more, please get in touch and I'll look forward to hearing from you.

Female Walker, 50, based near Dorset

Message: Hello, I am a regular walker; with friends, groups and alone. Love mini or major adventures to places near or far, travelling at a pace where you can appreciate the people, sights, smells and tastes. Hoping to meet new hiking/travel buddies with an interest in long distance point to point walking, happy to wild camp but no Amazonian queen so also love a touch of luxury now and then. And I'm sure you will all agree that if you haven't seen a bathroom in a week 'luxury' is relative! Mostly available at weekends, occasionally mid week. If we get along how about planning a long distance hiking adventure together? Hoping to do the John Muir Trail (USA) in 2016 but happy to consider other ideas.

Male Walker, 60, based near London

Message: Reliving my passion for walking in the country side. As I am now registerd Blind I find it's not so easy for filling my love of walking. A keen rambler for many years I have a yearn to get out and about again and take in the beautiful creation that surrounds us. I am looking to make a couple of friends to come rambling. I'm living in London and need to get out from time to time. I thought up to about 10+ miles would be a good starting distance. I can help with some travel expenses if we need a train. I am up for a pint, or tea, or my favoured place for a break is a bite to eat in the middle of nowhere propped up against a log or wall. If you walk with a group or by yourself it would be great to hear from you. If you think you can assist or have any ideas, just let me know and if you need any more information about me just ask, we'll see ware it takes us. Al

Female Walker, 54, based near Pontypool

Message: Active 54 year old looking for equally active male walking buddy for walking at weekends in the main as work prevents weekday walking. Looking for friendship and companionship initially, and take it from there. Happy to tackle most walking terrain, and not just a fair weather walker. Would prefer a non smoking companion, and happy to partake in a beverage at a Pub either en route or at the end of a walk. Very keen to do much more walking than I do currently, but need a buddy and navigator on board. Much prefer company and pleasant banter, and the added security proved. Currently exercise at home daily but would much prefer to be in the outdoors and fresh air.
