Female Walker, 45, based near Berkhamsted

Message: My husband and l have always walked on and off as we lose motivation. We have restarted walking and would love to keep the momentum going. We are in our mid 40s and love each other company but we will welcome other companies in order to keep us motivated. We can easily do 8-12miles walks but happy to try to do more. We live in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire and would love to join couples, single men or women for weekend walks around the surrounding counties such as Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Berkshire, London, Essex and Oxfordshire. We would love to go for some famous walks such as the Yorkshire Dales, Dartmoor. . . . on a long weekend trip. So, if you think we can motivate each other, please let us know. Anjanee and Adam

Female Walker, 50, based near Clitheroe

Message: Hi, I walk as often as time permits as a single parent who also needs to earn a living. Luckily that's not full time, and as it's in a school, I have good holidays with time to spare. Kids now teens so can be left alone (but are rarely persuaded to put on their boots with me). Tried walking groups but don't really like the large group thing -prefer to walk with a friend or small group. Looking to find a few more buddies, to share the views (or laugh about the lack of them). Done long distance walks in the dim and distant past (Pennine Way, Hadrian's Wall, Lyke Wake) as well as trekking in Tibet and Bhutan, but realistically it's going to be half/full days or occasional overnights (happy camper) within an hour or so of home (Ribble Valley). Generally fit - swim and cycle too. Would be great to arrange some days out through this site. Half term and Christmas holidays are not too far away. . . Please get in touch if you fancy a walk.

Male Walker, 66, based near Kent

Message: Spurred on by doing more challenging walks ahead of doing the Three Peaks Challenge 3 years ago I have continued to enjoy walks and climbs. I am active and fully fit enjoying a variety of activities. I enjoy varied walks from relaxed countryside walks to something a lot more challenging. Part of enjoying walks for me is good company. I am happy to enjoy a drink or meal afterwards and perhaps consider trips. Prefer mid-week although I could do weekend walks. I have indicated walking areas and counties but are not limited to those indicated. If my post interests you do get in touch

Male Walker, 63, based near Haverfordwest

Message: Hi, I just love walking, landscape, wildlife, geology, trees, plants, well everything out in the wild or countryside really. I currently live in Pembrokeshire an area I really love but I'm moving to Libanus near Brecon shortly to be nearer my three daughters and my work ( which is now house and pet sitting mostly in the southern half of England). I'm single and my job is wonderful but quite isolating so I'd like to meet someone (female) for company , conversation, laughter, ( not much laughter on your own) sharing (no sharing either) on walks, in pubs or anywhere. I'm an experienced walker and have walked over many places in Britain and Ireland , Pyrenees and Alps, I'm especially familiar with the Brecon Beacons and Pembrokeshire. My job takes me all over Southern Britain mostly but not always South of the M4 and gives me lots of opportunities to walk in some beautiful areas. I love reading, live music and theatre, real ale, cinema (but I can't seem to go on my own), travel, meeting people from other countries, single malts, laughing etc, etc.and I'd like to meet someone please.

Female Walker, 62, based near West Wycombe

Message: Hi, I am a 62 year female, I have lived in West Wycombe for 1 year. I am a retired nurse who is looking for someone to walk with and share and enjoy the scenery and chat or not as the mood allows. I love walking and have just completed Hadrians Wall which has been a lifelong dream. I walk as fast as I can but I am no greyhound, far preferring to stop and take a photo or enjoy whatever is on view and it is always nice to have a treat at the end. I am married but my husband is not keen on walking and I feel I could be more adventurous if I were not on my own. I can walk during the week and prefer this and I'm happy to travel to other counties for day walks but I'm also keen to explore my surroundings in the Chilterns. I am reasonably fit, at least I think I am but I'm not great at scaling mountains and not overly keen on very strenuous ventures, but that said I'm willing to consider most things.

Message: Hi, Trapped adventure girl looking for buddy to help her escape. . . . Quite fit but not very experienced. Done Lakes and Scottish mountains (a while ago) Took a trip up to Skye during the big freeze for New Year. Love Skye! Blue moons and pink sunrises, sigh! Never done any winter climbing, sadly, so had to stay on safer routes, grrrr! Look forward to hearing from anyone interested in helping this lass get out there. P. S. I will probably winge quite a bit until I get my mountain legs toned up.

Message: Hi, my name's Bernie and I'm looking for a walking pal or pals in the St. Helens or Wigan area to do regular walks of between 5-10 miles. I walk with my wife but due to hip replacements her limit is 5 or 6 miles. I am in a rambling club but often miss walks because they are on a Sunday and we are doing other things. Being retired (6 years) I have time in the week so weekday walks are best. Enjoy using maps and sometimes making it up as I go along! Enjoy solo walks too but also nice to have a bit of company sometimes.

Female Walker, 55, based near Bristol

Message: Hi my name's Cathy. I'm looking for walking companions both male and female for day walks or weekend trips. I like to walk about 8 to 10 miles a day, I'm fit and healthy but I don't like to rush, I prefer to go somewhere beautiful and take the time to appreciate the scenery and connect with nature. I'd be interested in doing a long distance walk in stages, perhaps the South West coastal path or Offa's Dyke, but I'm open to suggestions. I'm 5'11' and I'd prefer companions of a similar height, I don't want to feel like a giraffe! I'm also into wild swimming, historic sites, dancing and yoga (though the last two I generally do indoors).

Female Walker, 58, based near Yorkshire

Message: Hello, I am interested in expanding walking friends. Male or female with or without walking furry companions. Animal lover, currently I do not own a dog. I am an average walker, not keen on anything competative, love the outdoors and our beautiful countryside. I currently average 5-10 miles, biking around 25-30 miles. I live on the edge of The Peaks. I would like to meet some light hearted, young at heart walking friends who may be well travelled and have a positive outlook on life. I have recently visited Ireland had a great weekend in London and have travelled for many years. I have had a few holidays in a campervan which were a blast! My philosophy is: The sun will come up tomorrow whatever, catch the moment! Good company, discussion, lovely views, a brew, a beer, good for the soul.

Male Walker, 56, based near Manchester

Message: Hi I am trying to put some kind of life together after the death of my incredible wife. I hate being in the house and believe walking will be therapeutic. We used to enjoy walking but not generally long distances. I am fit however as i am an addicted swimmer. The thing I miss most is talking so a walking companion would be ideal. Willing to travel reasonable distance for a nice walk. The peak district is probably best for me. I am very easy going and generally good fun, although I must admit my sense of humour has vanished recently due to circumstances. I'm hoping some new friends will change that.

Message: Hi - I am a married man living in Stockport looking for a walking partner to complete a few longish walks and end with a well deserved drink in a nice country pub. What could be better? I completed the Coast to Coast walk many years ago and would be interested in doing the Sandstone Trail over a weekend. I have a small dog that could come along on any walk and can provide transport if required. I have recently retired and am trying to pack in as much adventure as I can! Message: Message: Hello, I'm Roy, a young at heart fell walker looking for an easy going walking companion for walks both at home and abroad. I love the countryside so I'm not really fussed about particular areas in this country. The ones I've selected are where I walk regularly but would like to explore a little further afield and don't mind travelling to a decent walk. Abroad, my favourite walking areas are within the Mediterranean Climate regions (prefer the more reliable weather!). Not into peak bagging or route marches. Much prefer to take in the scenery, wildlife, local history and a suitable hostelry en route! I also have a wide range of other interests which include cycling, hot air ballooning, live gigs, theatre and travel. I'm also pet friendly so don't mind a canine companion coming along. Look forward to hearing from you, Roy.

Female Walker, 54, based near Sheffield

Message: Hi there, I'm Kathy and would like to find a male companion to go walking with. A very dear friend introduced me to this site. She knows that I love walking, being close to nature and the great outdoors, but was aware that with the winter months encroaching I was looking for new ideas to fill my spare time. I have hobbies such as dancing and sailing but as I lost my partner very suddenly in 2011, and have lived alone since, it has been more difficult to pursue some of my interests. I have special time daily with my 2 lovely labs and we walk at least twice a day, but as they are now in their senior years, both 12 years old, I am restricted by distance. I would like to find some one who would be happy to accompany me for longer walks at a weekend. I am nick named chatty Kathy and I do like to converse on all manner of topics plus a good sense of humour is always a bonus as we meander along. I have to say I am an A star when it comes to getting lost, although a little deviation can be interesting at times. If you would consider being my companion and helping me get from A to B, (I'm hopeless at map reading), please send me a message. You never know, I might find the one I am looking for. I know you are out there. Thank you for taking the time to read my message. Kathryn

I'm originally from Scotland but moved to South Cheshire a few years ago so fairly new to the area & looking to explore. Message: Hi, this is Diane. I live in the Yorkshire Dales and own a hotel (with walking companion rates if you choose to stay there) - I am finding it really difficult to find a walking companion to walk with, mid-week especially. Not looking to walk really long distances but happy to do up to 10 miles or so. Love the idea of pub grub after a good leg stretch. I love to laugh and consider myself easy company. I am not on here looking for romance (or whatever the modern term is) but just to enjoy the company of a fellow male or female walker. Hope to hear from you. Diane

Message: I'm a 60 year old male based in Chatham Kent but I often travel to NW England and stay in Liverpool, Warrington or sometimes Manchester. I travel by train as I work for a rail company and don't drive but find that I can get to most of the places I like to go walking. My walking interests are varied I used to do a lot of mountain walks a few years ago but haven't done any serious hard ones in recent years but I'm still fit to do long walks. I like canals, railway, coastal and river paths, moorland walks and around reservoirs maximum walk length I usually do are about up to 12 miles in 4-5 hours though I could shorten or lengthen it depending on a possible companion's need, if you have a dog I can work out a walk to suit your dog. I have lots of knowledge of walks around the NW and other area's. I'm just looking for a friend either male or female to enjoy going walking within any of my favourite areas, I'm independent and would travel to meet at any place that is convenient.
