Male Walker, 44, based near Newcastle Upon Tyne

Message: Hi all! Let me introduce myself as a hillwalker returning to the sport after a lengthy absence. I am looking to do some Munros in winter condition around the 29th of January. Until I gave up on hillwalking about ten years ago I had amassed around seventy five Munros, all done outside the winter season, so as you can guess I am a winter novice apart from doing a winter skills course more years ago than I care to remember! I am hoping someone on here will be in the Loch Tay or Drumochter Pass area at the time mentioned and would not mind me tagging along for some winter experience. I have the kit, map reading skills, cramprons, ice axe etc. . . I am physically fit from years of endurance road cycling and would not be a liability in any party. I would like to do something fairly non technical to begin with, maybe the Glen Lyon Munros or the Drumochter four to the west of the A9. Look forward to hearing from you!

Message: Hi, Lesley here. Ideally looking for a walking buddy to share the love of the great outdoors and just generally keeping active. Have been a walker for many years, mainly cross country with a Nordic walking crowd (plus 2 walking weekend ends away a year in various parts of the country. ) My walking activities were somewhat curtailed in 2015/16 due to poor health and I'm itching to get back out there again and build up stamina. Whilst I have partner who often walks with me he doesn't like the distance that I do i. e. anything between 8 - 15 miles. . . whilst walking with my dog is great he doesn't offer the same interaction as a follow human. I have often looked at doing one of the long distance paths, I have the time just not the willing companion. Whilst I can read a map I tend to plot routes via a walking app and use that as my guide ( battery permitting). Extra navigation skills very welcome :) Love a walk with the promise of good food at the end, oh and a glass of wine. There are soooooo many more paths that I'd like to discover, care to share your knowledge or perhaps plot one together? Heres to many more adventures. Cheers

Message: Who doesn't love getting out in to the hills?! The usual places for me tend to be the Peaks, Lakes, Snowdonia or Scotland (especially the Cairngorms) but Scotland is such a loooooong drive away. I love cycling day to day, mostly road riding but also enjoy some gentle blue route mountain biking as well. I sometimes feel adventurous and try the red but am a bit technically inept :/ I started a new chapter in my life in Sep 2015 by heading back to Uni. Its been great fun and i am particularly excited about the chance I'll get to spend my summer weeks exploring the hills again. No preference to male or female companionship although i work weekends so am looking for regular company Mon - Fri (or occassionally a week or two away further afield when my timetable allows) and also people who don't mind dogs as mine goes everywhere with me. I also prefer walking with 1 or 2 people at a time. Tried the group walking and its just not for me. Hope to hear from all you fellow adventurers soon!

Message: Hi, I'm based in Berkshire but willing to travel. I'm am interested in all sorts of walking, whether it be routes from guides or just picking up a map and heading off. Love the idea of the long distance paths, and have been working my way along the North Downs Way with a friend for a few years now - who knows we might finish this year. I started the Thames Path by accident in 2015 and have since completed approximately one third of it (Culham to Kingston) - obviously started in the middle and have been working my way backwards and forwards! I'd love to do other long distance paths such as South Downs Way, London loop, Coast to Coast and am seriously considering starting the South West Coast path this year. Happy to do them in bite sized chunks or in bigger sections. Generally most of my walking has been done solo and I'm happy with my own company, but equally like walking with others. I'd love to join up with like minded either single walkers or groups. Have been known to climb the odd mountain - Snowdon and Carauntoohil the most notable - and the Lake District is somewhere I'm keen to walk in. Look forward to hearing from any like-minded walkers.

Message: Hi, I live in Glasgow, with my border collie Rannoch, not far from Loch Lomond. I used to be a regular walker in my younger days and I'm looking to get back into the great outdoors but would prefer to do it with some company, so I am looking for new friends to go walking with. I've done the West Highland Way three times, The Great Glen Way once and would love to try some of our other long distance national trails, but, I'm also happy to do day walks. I'm easy going, enjoy new challenges, and always up for a laugh, life's too short to be too serious !!! I love nature and wildlife, love taking photos, and enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Message: I've just come home from work, walking all day in the Worcestershire countryside in the sun with a pack of dogs, including my own. Having served my time climbing hills and mountains with groups of children in the Outdoor Education sector, I now spend my working hours walking with dogs and feel it would be good and healthy to spend my leisure time walking with adult company. About me - my name is Alison (50 next year and planning various walking trips to celebrate) and if you walk with me you walk with my Collie, Gwenon. For me its about being out there in the countryside, listening to the birds, hugging the trees, reconnecting with the natural world, catching the views as much as bagging peaks - although this is always an added bonus. I am as happy in the lowlands, in the woods, by the sea as I am navigating my way across highlands and moorland. I am a sound navigator and enjoy exploring as well as working out the maths! I enjoy exploring off the beaten track and have also been known to while away my time playing in the stream. If any of this sounds appealing and you are willing to join me being out there in the wild or not so wild, get in touch.

Message: Hi, I'm Caroline, and i'm looking for a small walking group to join. I can manage up to 10 miles, but not great on hills, ? due to asthma. A group fairly local to the Yorkshire dales area would be ideal, as i drive, but not on motorways, or into cities! I work, Tuesday-Friday, so have quite a lot of free Mondays, and also alternate Saturdays, as my partner is a Bradford City fan! I don't know how to search for groups specifically on this site, so if you belong to one and read this, please get in touch.

Message: Hi, I love walking mostly in North Wales. The Clwydian range is my local area, I walk in Snowdonia and around the North Wales coast fairly often. Then other areas of the UK and beyond on occasions too. I've fallen in love with Skye and Harris/Lewis so given any excuse will also drive to Scotland, although secretly want a helicopter... Looking to explore Torridon and other areas of northern Scotland more in the future too. I'd love to meet new people who love walking. Dylan

Message: Hi all fellow walkers! I'm a 32 year old single male looking for male or female walkers and hiking buddies to explore the local region, notably the Peak District, Parts of Wales such as the Brecon Beacons or Snowdonia and the Lakes and Beyond in the Scottish Highlands. I'm reasonably fit and active, as I run or cycle often, and have done a touch of scrambling in Wales. I'm relatively new to it all, so by no means super experienced, but I'd love to share and learn from other walkers and individuals and go and explore what the great outdoors has to offer! I can navigate ( in basic terms!) and I own a trusty walking GPS along with all mapping paraphernalia. If you'd like to meet a fun, young, fit and open minded give-it-a-go walker who will attempt anything at least once (despite my fear of heights!) then I look forward to hearing from you!

Message: Hi everyone, this is the first time I have used this message board or anything like it so I am not exactly sure what to put. I am 56 coming up 57 and am on my own. As for the graded walks I am not sure, but I like to walk the hills in the Lake District and equally like a low level walk through the valleys. I don't like to start a walk when it's pouring down, but have got caught in the rain many a time whilst out. I've ticked a few of the boxes regards where I would like to walk but would be glad to go anywhere where there is countryside, woods etc. I would be glad to here from anyone, male or female with similar interests. If anyone would like anymore information please contact me any time.

Message: Hi i'm Pete I live in Lancashire and love walking in the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. I'm looking for a female walking companion to join me. I'm not overly keen on walking in big groups, preferring the company of just one or two people at most to share some great views (weather permitting) and a few laughs. I know most areas of the lakes very well (although I did get lost in the fog once, We've all done it I'm sure) and would be glad to guide someone who's not that experienced. I'm always up for new challenges and would like to try the Scottish highlands and Skye in the future but having no knowledge of the areas i'd prefer some company. Message: Hi I'm looking for walking companions either m/f who are interested in 'Munro bagging' primarily, so trips up to the Highlands are a plus, but I also love mountain walking in the lovely Lake District and further afield. I have made many trips up to the Highlands now, and walked up Munros in most of the mountain ranges, and must admit am slightly addicted to them. Although always keen to reach the top I also like to stop and enjoy the wonderful scenery and wildlife too, and I sometimes stop for shots with the camera. I enjoy camping and youth hosteling - I find it more fun but wouldn't turn down the occasional luxury of bed and breakfast accommodation too. Am keen to meet those interested in trips to the Highlands or walks on the fells in the Lakes or trips overseas too. I look forward to hearing from you.

Message: Hi, I've not been on this site for some time & whilst I currently do a bit of walking with another lady I met on here quite a while ago, I have more free time now & thought it would be nice to meet up with others who share my love of fresh air, the outdoors & our wonderful coast & countryside. I'm reasonably fit, happy to walk up to 10 miles, but pretty poor at map reading so walking with someone that knows where they are going would be good! I can walk most weekends & some days during the week, I have transport so can meet up. Male Walker, 59, based near Ambleside

Message: I moved to The Lake District in February 2014, having spent the last 30 years living and working in London. My two children are in their early 20's and have recently left university. I started a B&B/self catering business here in Ambleside and I'm slowly adding to my list of Wainwrights, in between getting the place upgraded and dealing with my guests. My interests extend to wildlife, the preservation of wild places, old mines, helping to train search dogs, organising an annual festival in Ambleside and live music of most genres. I try to spend a couple of weeks each summer working at music festivals and plan to take up sailing again on one of the large lakes nearby. Chatting and good company on the high fells make for memorable and atmospheric days, so do please get in touch.

Message: Hi, I am an experienced hill walker living near Penrith. I have walked in Europe, America and throughout the British Isles. My hill walking started in The Lakes and having recently moved into the National Park I am now renewing my memories of these iconic hills. My lifelong passion however are the hills of Scotland having climbed over 240 Munros. That said, I enjoy walking in all wild areas and like to take time to appreciate the views and local wildlife. A great day on the hill followed by a pub with an open fire in great company is my ideal day, if that appeals to you I would love to hear from you.

Message: Hello My name is Terri I'm new to this site and looking for new walking friends as most of my friends have now lost motivation. I am a life long walker and cannot imagine life without walking! I live in lovely Ludlow and know the Shropshire Hills very well. I walk often in the Peak District, the Brecon Beacons and Wales all of which are within striking distance of here. I have family in France so also walk regularly in Europe particularly in the French and Spanish Pyrennees and next year have planned to do the camino from St. Jean de Luz. I am no longer working full time but am nowhere near ready to slow down. This means I have time to travel and enjoy new walking opportunities as well as make new friends who like me, love the great outdoors. Please contact me if you would like to walk with me either in the UK or Europe. Bon Voyage! Terri

Message: I am single with a dog! Trying to find someone to walk with and build my walking legs back up. I am still up to reasonable distances - did a 14 mile hill walk a couple if weeks ago, but I don't enjoy walking on my own, or particularly with large groups. I enjoy camping etc and being off the beaten track. I am not particularly into bagging Wainrights, Munroes, Corbett etc it needs to be fun. Female Walker, 53, based near Marlow

Message: Hello, I am hoping to find male or female interested in joining me for the highest peaks in North Pennines, North Yorkshire Dales and Northumbria. I've been enjoying the hills for 20 plus years. It all started with a great crowd in Lancashire and Manchester. We met every month to do the Lakes or Wales and whilst living in Stockport I would try to get to the Lakes or Peak District at weekends too. Now, living in the South of England, vertially on the Chiltern Way, the landscape is rambling and picturesque, but I miss the great times in the North. Hence I have set myself the challenge of climbing the HEWITTS (England to start with). 43 of 180 done so far. I tend to walk solo and drive North on a Friday to do an afternoon peak/s and then main peaks Saturday and Sunday. For me the greatest challenge is Time as I have a family, work and getting away at weekends can prove tricky. I'm mainly planning for next year now and also have annual leave Jan, Feb, March to get to the hills. I'm happy to meet up with anyone in the local areas mentioned or drive up with you too. Even though my navigation is ok, I'd prefer someone with a good sense of direction! Happy walking and may your waterproofs never fail :D Caroline
