I am a Male Walker, in my early 50s, based near Welwyn Garden City

My Message: Hi there. I love getting out for a walk in our beautiful countryside but Iím easily distracted and sometimes just lack the motivation to go out on my own, itís much nicer to be out with company. Iíve had some fantastic walking holidays in recent years including the Dolomite Mountains and the Amalfi coast in Italy, but as of last year I no longer have a walking partner so, now Iím single again, Iíd love meet up with female company or mixed groups to enjoy the great outdoors and perhaps a bit of socialising afterwards. It would be lovely to meet someone nice who is local to Welwyn Garden City that may eventually become that someone special in my life, but in the meantimeÖ. . . I love great views (weather permitting) and for me, they donít need to be from on top of a mountain to be great. Iím not really a fan of camping (I prefer pubs, cottages or BandBís) but I am friendly and outgoing and donít mind taking my turn if driving is involved. When going out on a full dayís walk I prefer to be well prepared with my day pack fit to bursting. My navigation skills are ok and I rely on my trusty compass and a map instead of a handheld GPS. Donít really mind where I go walking, but for now Iíd like to keep to Hertfordshire and surrounding counties and leave the destinations that are further away until Iíve built up some friendships/relationship. So, if like me, you think walking is nicer with company, why not drop me a line and we can get out there together. Thanks, Martin.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Carlisle

My Message: Hi, Looking for someone or people to walk with (male or female). I enjoy a challenge and have just got back into walking regularly. I've done about 120 Wainwrights, the West Highland Way, the Arran Coastal Way, various chunks of the Cumbria Way, South Coast path and the Pennine Way in the past and recently walked for a week in the Brecon Beacons. Would love to do another long distance path though. I adore the west coast of Scotland and try to get a regular fix however brief. I enjoy thoughtful and interesting conversation as well as a good chuckle at the ridiculous, and always appreciate a chance to stop and look at the wonderful things in this world, rather than charging right through it. I work Monday to Thursday so happy to walk any day over the weekend. I enjoy the arts, music, reading and creative writing, but am rarely happier than when I'm on top of a hill. Good Wishes Happy Walking Di

I am a Male Walker, in my late 60s, based near Nantwich

My Message: Hello, now retired with more time to fritter and looking for a female walking buddy, mainly but not exclusively in the north of England. Recent trips include the blue mountain and bushy parts of New South Wales and the Picos de Europa. I've even visited West Dorset! I feel so at home with all those fossils. You can feel as young as you like provided you don't look a day under forty. I'm very fond of tea but am quite happy to end the day in a pub if you're the genteel kind of lady who prefers to finish off with a couple of pints. Own car and happy to travel. Richard.

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Preston

My Message: Hello Fellow-walkers, I'm Jeannette and live south of Preston. I enjoy walking and the outdoors generally and although do walk alone prefer to walk with a companion or a small group of two or three like minded people. I love being surrounded by the hills, so particularly enjoy the lakes and dales and will happliy camp out . . . . . . but must admit I am more a 'fair weathered camper' and enjoy a pub evening meal as opposed to cooking on the stove every day. I would like to meet up with both guys and girls to go walking with, either weekdays or weekends. Hope to hear from you. Have fun!

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Gloucester

My Message: Hello. I love walking and would enjoy meeting new people (male or female) to walk with. I have 3 dogs (a cocker spaniel, a terrier cross and recently acquired a rescue dog from Bulgaria who is a black and cream fluffy mixed breed about collie size but looks like a miniature husky) the 2 older dogs are very well behaved and the young pup (9 months) is getting there. I love my dogs, but would enjoy the company of human beings too! I can walk quite long distances, but need to do a bit of 'view appreciation' during longer uphill climbs. I live on the outskirts of Gloucester, but am happy to travel within reason. I have a tent and like to go camping in the better weather.

I am a Female Walker, in my late 40s, based near Ashbourne

My Message: Your Message Hi I am looking for a single male walking companion of similar age. I walk every week and at every opportunity( and at least a mile a day with my lurcher/ lab puppy , his company is optional by the way)! I would like to walk any where and everywhere and would like to get better at map reading and learn more about walking/ walks. Would like to do some serious walks - Pennine way etc... I have no sense of direction and find it hard to find my way out of a paper bag mostly, so someone who is willing to be responsible for me!! would be nice as would someone with a wicked sense of humour who's company I could enjoy, so If you are young at heart, have a nice smile and would like to share some good walks (maybe easy on the eye - that always helps!!) please get in touch! I like to stop every now and then and look around at the natural beauty and drink it all in, not too keen on route marches. A nice pub is always good . I would like to have some walking holidays , weekends, travel. So if you would like to help a novice and impart your knowledge and stories ,that would be nice.

It would be good to have a walking day our with a pub lunch and even tea to finish, I am retired and can walk mid-week as well as weekends to suit your own commitments. I have also started a small walking group on my Facebook page aimed at people aged over 40 but all are very welcome, we are very friendly and have a programme in place already. I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Askrigg

My Message: I love walking usually from about 3 miles up to around 12, preferably with a tea/coffee shop somewhere along the way. I walk moderately fast but enjoy the scenery and wildlife as well. I mostly walk mid week and have transport if necessary to start/finish. It would be lovely to have company on at least some of my walks and would be happy to venture further afield with one or more companions. I have always wanted to walk Hadrians Wall for example. I am 63 but fairly fit and managed the three peaks last year although not on the same day I have to admit. I am virtually retired from farming so any excuse to be out and about would be good.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 70s, based near Matlock

My Message: Hi, I'm Adrian, single, retired, fit, and keen to meet an active fit female walking companion to explore our beautiful islands, and further afield. I have a camper van to tour and also to use as a mobile base for circular and linear walks, perhaps on classic long distance national trails. I enjoy all types of walks both short and full day walks and long distance. On the latter I prefer to complete the walk in one go rather than spread over weeks, months or year. I have completed a number of classic long distance paths including The Pennine Way and Wainwrights Coast to Coast, but I'm not against doing these again if my companion wished to do them. Not so good on heights these days so I avoid walking on high level narrow ledges. I am a vegetarian who eats fish, non competitive nature, passionate about our natural world, fun loving, often quirky. Other interests include camping, cycling, casual nature walks, am NT and RSPB member, conservation volunteering, reading, eclectic taste in music, art cinema, theatre, the arts, wildlife gardening and DIY. Am politically a bit of a lefty. If any of this appeals, please get in touch.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Windsor

My Message: I am a straight single 57 year old male with a real passion for the great outdoors. As an experienced walker and walk leader I am quite capable of finding my way around without too many mistakes, but do sometimes miss the companionship of a like minded partner to share my enjoyment of our wonderfully scenic and diverse landscapes. A perfect opportunity to explore the mix of valleys, woods, fells and moorlands; together with all the bugs, plants, birds and animals that call them home; the nearest thing we have to natural environments. The only downside is that any walking partner would have to accept the fact that due to having had to take on the role of full time (24/7) carer for an elderly relative with dementia my trips out are at the moment limited to rather short local walks some weekdays and 2 or 3 holidays each year.

I am a Female Walker, in my late 50s, based near Aberdeen

My Message: Hi, I'm looking to meet fellow walkers who don't mind a wee dog coming along and a walker who doesn't really know her Corbett's from Munro's, but likes a biscuit at the top!- that's both of us. However I do walk regularly, love nature, and don't mind being outside in most weathers. I enjoy art, scuba, reading, music and am pretty easy going. I would like to extend my walking, and to share some company in doing so would be great. I'm not keen on heights so sheer ridges and summits are not for me I'm afraid, but I'm fairly fit and up for a wide range of walks, otherwise. I hope to extend some skills like map reading, compass etc without losing the enjoyment of just a good day of walking! I work full time so weekends are best, and holidays are much more flexible in the distances I can travel.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 50s, based near Penrith

My Message: Hi, I live on the fringe of the Lake District and enjoy walking most weekends and occasional evenings, especially when the sun is out and it seems a travesty to remain indoors. I'm a third of the way through completing the Wainwrights, although enjoy low-level walking as much as the heights. Most of my friends are more into sailing or shopping than walking so I'm looking for others who enjoy getting out into the spectacular Lakes, either for a full day or shorter time. I love to discover new places to eat and drink, and am passionate about wild swimming. Mark

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Newcastle Upon Tyne

My Message: Hi all! Let me introduce myself as a hillwalker returning to the sport after a lengthy absence. I am looking to do some Munros in winter condition around the 29th of January. Until I gave up on hillwalking about ten years ago I had amassed around seventy five Munros, all done outside the winter season, so as you can guess I am a winter novice apart from doing a winter skills course more years ago than I care to remember! I am hoping someone on here will be in the Loch Tay or Drumochter Pass area at the time mentioned and would not mind me tagging along for some winter experience. I have the kit, map reading skills, cramprons, ice axe etc. . . I am physically fit from years of endurance road cycling and would not be a liability in any party. I would like to do something fairly non technical to begin with, maybe the Glen Lyon Munros or the Drumochter four to the west of the A9. Look forward to hearing from you!
