Female Walker, 70, based near London Ontario

Message: Hello fellow walkers. I am a 70 year old Canadian female coming to Stratton near Bude for the month of October 2017. I hope to do sections of the coastal path, perhaps more of the Jurassic Coast and possibly Dartmoor. I am a steady walker having completed 100 km of the Camino de Santiago and can anticipate doing up to 12 mile walks over reasonable terrain. Last May I completed the Coastal Path from Penzance to the Lizard finding it challenging but rewarding. Sections of the Jurassic Coast path while less challenging were also completed last May. I would not consider myself to be capable of steep elevations over a short period of time but more leisurely climbs are OK. About Me: When not out and about I knit, cook, read, putter in my garden, lunch with friends, visit art galleries/museums and travel. I hope to meet for good exercise, conversation and social times as I love to end my walks at a pub or café. Get in touch if you have an interest in joining me.

Female Walker, 60, based near Southampton

Message: Retired with plenty of time and passion to be out walking. Sadly the climbs of the SWCP have taken my knees beyond endurance so now I stick to almost flat walks. Can do up to 25K a day taking in the sights and sounds of nature en route so no route march. Focusing on British Canals and their towpaths, having started the Kennet and Avon walking west, Reading to Thatcham so far. Utilising train and bus from hotel or B & B. Also happy to walk in Hampshire, Dorset, Surrey, Berkshire, Oxfordshire avoiding serious descents. Sharing any walk in conversation and shared love of flora and fauna with tea or pub included would be more fun! Long term, finding a fellow walker of either sex who'd have the time and means to roam England, Wales, France, Netherlands, Italy etc with me is also on the agenda.

Message: Hello 58 year old single man seeks female companion for walks, exploring and good pub lunches/dinners. Medium fitness level 5 - 8 miles is enough with plenty of time to stand and stare. I have reasonable map skills and good supply of O/S maps. I live in Pembrokeshire and my job is shift based that offers a good deal of time off at varying times of the week, I am mobile and will travel to other areas and am able to offer accommodation in my 4 bed house. Would be happy to answer any questions about myself before meeting. Huw

Message: Hi, I'm Cath - I love walking in the countryside and have done since a child as my dad was a keen walker - I grew up in the Cotswolds so love walking around there but enjoy anywhere with a bit of a hill and a good view - I do walk on my own sometimes as hubby is not a country lover and children grown up so would like to find someone to have a chat and a laugh with while walking. Luckily, I can read a map but that doesn't mean I have never got lost!! Am happy to drive for a good walk - look forwarding to hearing from you.

Male Walker, 56, based near Kent

Message: Hi my name is Richard, I am a keen North Kent/London runner and walker of 57 years. I like nothing more than to explore the great outdoors on foot. Its funny I started walking some years back and when realising I was not as fit as I thought I started to run to improve my hill stamina and caught the bug. I have walked all over the UK either in groups or solo including the West Highland Way, half of the Southwest Coastal Path and half of Offa's Dyke, I'd love to finish these walks one day. The South Downs Way was a great walk achieved in chunks. I have been very interested for a long time and admired the achievements of others who have climbed Mount Everest and finally achieved a lifetime ambition with friends and trekked to Everest Base Camp a few years back, why…'because its there'. I am just back from a trek to Machu Picchu, an incredible life experience. So, where to now, looking for a new challenge with new company.

Female Walker, 59, based near Oakwood

Message: My name is Shelley, widow, originally from South Africa, last 15 years in Hampshire, but currently living/working (flexibly) in north London. I'm looking for a slowish walking companion to do day walks and occasional longer, and build up my flagging fitness levels - been pretty slack over the past year in a very isolating and sedentary job. I'm doing 2 week Camino at the end of May 2017, and at this rate will not be getting very far! Not great on hills at the moment - unless we can stop to admire the scenery on the way up. I work, but days/weeks/even months off are easy to arrange, as job is flexible, and have a car. I've clicked the counties around where I live for day walks but very happy to walk further afield. Lighthearted, friendly, enjoy camping, gardening, reading, nature, novice birder, bit of a home body, care hugely about the planet and could be called a tree hugger. Favourite tipple - plenty of tea or one gin.

Male Walker, 68, based near London

Message: Hi, male walker 68 from the London area. Like walking in Derbyshire as a preference as it is an easy drive from London but Yorkshire is good as are the Brecons. I normally camp as I have a 3 1/2 year old black Labrador so BandBs are not always an option. Have done the likes of Hadrian's Wall, Yorkshire 3 peaks, North Downs and the Brecons in the past but 10/15 miles a day are enough nowadays, especially with the dog. Will be visiting Derbyshire in May and normally stay in Hope and would not mind finding a companion to spend a day or so with. Sorry, but not sure how to attach a photo!!

Male Walker, 59, based near Cheshire

Message: HI, Late 50's single male walker looking to meet up with a female kindred spirit. Reasonably experienced and fit I can walk an occasional week end, but mainly midweek . Although the Peak district is nearest to me I am willing to travel to new walks in different areas. An inspiring, energetic hike, whether in the hills or following local footpaths with a packed lunch followed by a pub meal is a day well spent, and better shared. So if you're local or further a field and think we may get along, I look forward to hearing from you.

Female Walker, 53, based near Southport

Message: I enjoy walking most weekends in Wales and the Lakes and the rest of the North West in summer, and further afield on holiday. In winter I like walking abroad. Map reading is not a strong point so normally walk with groups or friends and have walked parts of several of the long distance footpaths, particularly enjoyed the Wales Coastsl path as well as quite a few Wainwrights. I enjoy urban walks too and would like to meet someone whose map reading skills are better than mine and shares my passion for the great outdoors. Other passions include travelling, 80s music, theatre, foreign cinema, cake, chocolate and languages. I am based in Merseyside and happy to meet for a day walk in the area or further afield.

Male Walker, 35, based near Harrogate

Message: Hi, I'm Richard, 35, single and living in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. I enjoy getting out into the countryside for walks, especially the nearby Yorkshire Dales and my favourite part of the country the Lake District. I enjoy photography and always have my camera out on my walks. I enjoy both short walks with a country pub to end, or longer more challenging walks with a peak or two or three! I've recently decided to complete the 214 Wainwrights, but am looking to do the best walks rather than just the quickest routes. Would be up for some camping as well, now that spring is arriving. It would be nice to meet like minded people, especially any females looking for a walking partner.

Male Walker, 50, based near Basildon

Message: Hi, I'm Neville. I'm 50 and live in Essex. I still work full time but as it's a shift pattern I get a lot of time off, esp during the week and from 1st September to 31st March have every other week off. This year 2017 I've been to the Lake District and the Peak District twice. I don't mind travelling but if going to the Lakes, about 6 hours for me then like a few days walking. I'm looking for someone to walk with, local to me for local walks or meet somewhere if travelling. I have a campervan which sleeps two in comfort and an awning for more, all comforts supplied as at my age now sleeping in a wet tent on the floor doesn't appeal to me lol!!, If interested in a walking partner in Essex or meets around the UK let me know. Take care and enjoy yr walking, Nev

Message: Hi, Out of practice walker looking for someone to help me get a bit fitter. Having been dog free for a few years I could easily slip into couch potato mode, I did have some encouragement to get out there but am rapidly slipping back into the mire! I can walk around 6-7 miles no problem and up to 10 on a good day.I have walked quite a lot in the Dales in the past and more recently on the Wolds. I like to enjoy the scenery, take photos etc and a walk with a pub at the end is always better! Im looking for male or female walking companions, initially to walk fairly locally but hopefully maybe have weekends away later. I have my own transport, Im quite chatty and enjoy a good laugh, I don't have any objection to dog owners. I will reply to all messages. Hope to meet new friends soon.

Message: Hi. . great website! I moved up to County Durham in 2010 because of work and previous love of the scenery. I did Pennine Way 30 years ago (and love revisiting bits of it), the Dales Way, WHW, Great Glen Way, Dava Way, Isaac's Tea Trail. I've enjoyed regular walking times in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales, Scottish Highlands, the Borders and Northumberland. Although I'd like to walk C2C sometime too, shorter circular walks are just as appealing. Thanks to other walkers on this site I recently completed my first Cheviot Challenge and another for Teesdale/Weardale Mountain Rescue. I enjoyed the 2014 Hadrians Wall Trekathon and raised over £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support. I don't have a dog to growl at you but would always prefer company to share the time with. I love to talk and walk and enjoy the views all along the way. Am free many weekends (when not being musical) and am looking forward to hearing from you. Happy 2017!! Andy

Message: Hi I'm Karen. I'm single and now that I am retired I have a lot more time to go walking just for an afternoon or a day (week days and weekends) or for weeks. I'd like to meet up with other walkers to continue to do the SW Coast Path (I have done form Poole to nearly Plymouth and am happy to do other bits in any order), Offa's Dyke, the Coast to Coast or West Highland Way from 2017 onwards. I've walked the Thames Path from my home as I live on the Wiltshire / Gloucestershire borders, as well as most of my local walks and many more all over the UK - on my own and many in groups; always much more fun and interesting. I have a car and am happy to travel and go for walks all over the UK and abroad; I will tackle hills; have done Snowdon and other fairly high spots like the Jurassic Coast but my knees now really prefer fewer or shorter or less steep climbs. I love watching for wildlife along the way and would love to share the scenery and enjoyment with male or female friends. Its great to have a bit of a laugh and a chat along the way, especially if interspersed with stop offs for a cuppa or at a pub.

Male Walker, 44, based near Wigan

Message: Hello, I'm Michael, like everyone on here (I assume) I enjoy a walk. . . However I have one problem, it is this computer in front of me and the fact that I work for myself from home. . . I love to go out for a walk but with nobody to go with it is getting off my bottom to go out and embrace the world that is the hardest thing. I do have one walking companion but he is a bit of a fair weather one, doesn't like the cold, doesn't like the rain, the wind can be a problem as can puddles and mud. . . or anything over 10 miles (who am I kidding, he whines after 6. . ). . Perhaps you've come across his kind before, he is a whippet! So to get out and give myself a challenge (I do enjoy a challenge) I'm planning on completing the Wainwrights. . . to date (16th Feb 2017) I have done none. . ! I do love walking by myself, for me the whole point of climbing a mountain is the solitude and unspoilt natural beauty. . So I'm not really looking to go romping with a gaggle, but if I can find a select one or two to share the beauty of the great outdoors and perhaps a pint and a bite to eat on the way home I'd be delighted. Experience wise I do not care if you are a complete novice or have all the badges. . Though hopefully you will be able to share a decent conversation and not just want to talk about every peak you've ever climbed. . ! Am looking to head to the lakes for some shorter walks and some longer. . Working for myself I can pretty much go when I want, depends from week to week. Female or Male, age not too important probably 20something to 50something. . but age is a number. So if you might like to join me for a walk in the Lakes drop me a note and perhaps I'll see you there! And I know he is cute. . . no asking to come for a walk with me just to meet my dog. . . He'll only come if it is nice and not too far!!
