Male Walker, 53, based near London

Message: Hello. I'm 53 and based in north London. I like a variety of walks ranging from long rambles across Hampstead Heath and into urban central London(normally stopping at a pub en route) to more rural walks ranging from coastal to hills. I enjoy winding down after a good walk in a pleasant pub. I have a car and am willing to travel. I am looking to meet other people for regular walks either in or out of London.

Message: Hi I'm Annette and looking for new male or female friends that like to walk or cycle in the same areas as me. Unfortunately none of my friends like walking and I don't really enjoy walking on my own. I just like to be out in the fresh air and enjoy the open spaces, taking a few photos along the way, chatting, laughing and drinking in the views. I'm looking forward to meeting new friends and finding new walks, so if anyone is interested please get in touch.

Female Walker, 46, based near Mellor

Message: Hi I am not quite sure how to grade the walks that I am interested in. I have completed the Camino in Northern Spain but that doesn't involve that much climbing! I've also done the middle 4 days of Hadrians Wall. However I haven't done much walking over the last twelve months and would like to get out and about a bit more. The dog is in her 13th year and is no longer up for long walks. I love being outdoors, walking in great scenery and in good company that would be even better. I haven't navigated much and walking is one of the few areas of life that I am happy to follow in a sheep-like manner! I am quite well-travelled but very down to earth and would be happy to chat about many things in addition to walking in companionable silence, at times. A meal and a glass of something nice at the end of a days walking would be great. I am in a walking group and go on around 8 mile walks at present but to meet a male companion who enjoys walking would be the icing on the cake. I am based in Mellor in my native Lancashire and look forward to hearing from you. I have no ties and am free most weekends.

Message: Greetings fellow walkers! I am based in West Yorkshire at present and am wanting to connect with like-minded, sure-footed hill and dale walkers. I am a keen walker and am happy to accompany both female and male companions on many an excursion. I am a 'youthful' 59 year old - am fit and am ready to head for the hills with whoever finds the time! Weekends are best for me as I'm caring for elderly dad during the week tho' with the new summer time - there's plenty of hours left of an afternoon!

Female Walker, 51, based near Newcastle Upon Tyne

Message: Hello. . I'm a warm, friendly, enthusiastic country-loving lady adjusting to new life, hoping to meet male and female walkers to explore new territory. Flexible in work and of the opinion, if it's a nice day get out and use it - and even better, share it with a like minded person. Previous powerwalking training makes me well paced on the level and hills but may need to build up to more mountainous walks or tag along behind perhaps! Always keen to try new pubs/cafes and looking forward to new adventures.

Male Walker, 54, based near Bishop Auckland

Message: Hi. . great website! 2 years ago I moved up to County Durham because of work and previous love of the scenery. I've joined a fantastic walking group up here and despite breaking my leg whilst out with them and needing a helicopter rescue, I'm back walking again and up to speed. I did Pennine Way 25+ years ago and love revisiting bits of it, as well as the Dales Way, WHW and have enjoyed time in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales and Northumberland. I'd like to walk C2C sometime too and Isaac's tea trail even sooner but shorter circular walks are just as appealing. I don't have a dog to growl at you but would prefer some two-legged company to share the time with. Am free many weekends and school holidays (when not being musical) and am looking forward to hearing from you. Happy 2013!! Andy

Female Walker, 63, based near Bath

Message: I have been a keen walker for the last 10 years but (as we have got older) my walking companions have begun to fall by the wayside whereas I'm still raring to go! I have considered joining the Ramblers but I'd rather not walk in a large group. Also having exhausted most of the walks in the Bath area, Wiltshire and Dorset I would like to start walking further afield and have got my eye on some of the long distance trails ----- I prefer walking from place to place rather than circular walks but I will do both! Although I am slow uphill, I can cover 8 to 14 miles a day especially if there is a meal and a glass of wine to look forward to at the end. The other thing I enjoy is map reading and it gives me great satisfaction when I have negotiated a route successfully. So, I am looking for a walking companion who would like to do any of the above either during the week or at weekends.

Male Walker, 61, based near Yarm

Message: Hi, I'm Colin, youthful 61, living near Yarm in Teesside. I have always loved walking and the outdoors and am lucky to have the Cleveland Hills and North York Moors virtually on my doorstep. I'm able to pop out for a couple of hours on fine evenings when we have long daylight hours in Spring and Summer. On weekends I enjoy extending my walks and love going to the Yorkshire Dales and the Lakeland. I've recently become single and find walking very therapeutic. What I need are some friends to share the outdoors with. Ultimately I would love to meet a like-minded female companion. I still work full-time, but can take the odd day off to supplement evenings and weekends. I enjoy lively conversation, a good laugh and a nice meal with a glass of wine. I don't smoke, keep myself in decent shape and even go jogging. I love pets and miss my parson russell Patch. Would be delighted to hear from you. Bye for now Col

Female Walker, 65, based near Darlington

Message: Hi, I'm June, 65 years young, and am hoping to meet male or female walkers. I live in Darlington, and, unfortunately, don't drive, but will share expenses with anyone who has a car. I can meet, or if you live locally, pick me up. I haven't done any walking with a group, or serious walking really. I have been walking a local route of 5 miles in an hour and a half, but am dying to get out and about and seeing some of the lovely scenery we have in this part of the world. I am easy to get along with, and have a gsoh, which I think is essential! My other interest are theatre, cinema, travel abroad, and weekend and short breaks. I am available to walk most weekends, and also am pretty flexible for most week days. I can go walking with a few people, or with one, as long as they are more experienced than me, well, let's face it, that wouldn't be very hard to be, would it!! I look forward to meeting you in the not to distant future.

Message: Hello, I live in Dorking Surrey and it would be great to hear from any ladies who would like a walking partner! I work in London during the week, but am around for walking at the weekends and am happy to travel. I really enjoy a great conversation, so we won't be short of chatter on our walk! I also like landscape photography so if you enjoy the same, that would be an added bonus although I'm not one to spend ages setting up a picture! A pub at the end of the walk always goes down well! There are some great walks in Surrey! Drop me a line!

Message: I'm glued behind a desk all week and by Thursday the walls are closing in on me - thank heavens Sunday always comes. . ! I have walked with groups but I'm not in control of the day - and I don't like to dash from A to B so I mainly walk alone, which I'm happy to do BUT I would prefer to go with a pal who can laugh at mad cows, swat a mozzie off my shoulder, share comments on lovely views and who doesn't mind me pinching a chip off their plate when we stop for a pub lunch. . ! Where I walk depends on my mood; Peaks/North Wales for dramantic, Cotswolds for pretty. I have no problem travelling and am happy to share my last Rollo on the way home. . . . Message: Hi my name's Jenny. Walked with my husband until he died but didn't really 'get it' until I was alone. Since then it's become a large part of my life but I find now I'm more ambitious than my friends and I'm left feeling unsatisfied. It would be good to walk with someone, male or female, who was able to travel to new areas in order to appreciate more of Britain's wonderful countryside. A comfortable distance for me would be between 10 and 14 miles and I particularly enjoy long distant paths, this year having completed the Cotswold Way and the Coast 2 Coast, both walked in sections over two years as my friend's ability was limited. This year I took my grandson on his first long walk by doing part of the Cumbria Way from Coniston to Keswick. I'll walk in any weather, can read a map and enjoy arriving to a good meal and glass of red.

Female Walker, 45, based near Liverpool

Message: Hi my name is Lee, and I live Liverpool. I have decided to update this message as I have walked quite a few routes now thanks to a very good mate Tom who I met through this site. We tend to walk every other weekend, which in the winter is probably enough. I say that after us doing Hellvelyn in the freezing cold. I may want to try to do a little more in the Summer. For me as much as I love walking but I also love admiring the view, maybe sneak in a little bit of rest while having a chat and a laugh. I'm a Mum but my son is now 15 and I am very much surplus to requirements. The day has come to soon but I have to accept the fact that I have been dumped for his mates. I do have friends but they are really not interested in the idea of walking, not sure why. The downside is I dont drive so would need to be able to get to the walks via public transport. So if I can get there via a train it's ideal. If you are interested in helping me out, drop me a line x

Male Walker, 55, based near Haywards Heath

Message: Hello, I'm planning to walk the Coast to Coast route over 2 weeks starting from St Bees sometime between May 9-12. If you are interested in joining me to do part or all of this walk, please get in touch and I look forward to hearing from you. I'm a keen Long Distance Path walker interested in walking more of the UK's LDP's with anybody keen to join me to walk as a pair, either for single days or longer sections. Prefer one to one interaction rather than being in a group, equally able to provide stimulating conversation or remain silent as and when appropriate, like to cover some reasonable ground, but not at the expense of taking in the scenery and enjoying the time and space walking gives you to think, as well as the euphoria of a well earned drink and meal at the end of the day. I have walked Hadrian's Wall Path, the Camino Frances route of the Camino Santiago from St Jean to Santiago and Finisterre/Muxia, and the Annapurna Base Camp trek in Nepal. I live local to the South Downs Way and am keen to complete the western half of this from Amberley to Winchester, either in one day or longer sections and at anytime forward. Intending to walk the C2C path (St. Bees-Scarborough) and the West Highland Way/Ben Nevis/Great Glen Way (Glasgow-Fort William-Inverness) next Spring (April/May/June 2013) and keen to hear from anybody interested in these two routes, or indeed any other walks you are interested in doing and would like a walking partner; happy to travel anywhere in UK by car or train. Look forward to hearing from you, John
