Male Walker, 48, based near Wellington

Message: Stu, 46, looking for platonic friends to go walking with, and general socialising locally. Day walks or short breaks away (I built myself a cool little campervan) Although I don't mind walking on my own, but I would really like to meet like minded people who want to have enjoyable times out in the nicer parts of our country. Dartmoor is my favourite walking area locally, also very keen on the coast, The Quantocks, Exmoor, Cornwall. Further afield Snowdonia and Scotland. These are the places I know a bit, also happy to discover new places of course. Friendly and relaxed people preferred!, either gender, any age, Humans and Canines who like a nice walk, distance depending on the terrain, the weather, what we feel like etc. I'm self employed so can often be flexible about times to go out, although most Sundays I'm with my partner. Looking forward to receiving your message.

Male Walker, 62, based near Hebden Bridge

Message: Hi there. Recently really started to enjoy walking, trying to do the 1000 mile challenge this year, phew ! Walk with my labrador and so far we have done 1/2 of the pennine way ( I live 200 yards off it ). Just doing day walks, cant be bothered with camping as I'd have take about 5 kilos of dog food as well. We're off to Middleton in Teesdale during June to try and add more miles conquered on the Way. Looking for someone to share day walks all over the place really, between 6 and 15 miles are our norm. Have tried a couple of walking groups, but think I may have been unlucky as they all seemed very retentive ( if you get my meaning) about their walks. I just want to enjoy the views, the countryside, take lots of photos and see new places. So if you're anywhere near Hebden Bridge then please get in touch. Many thanks for looking.

Female Walker, 72, based near Barrow-in-furness

Message: Hello I am looking for walking companions for walks fairly local to me. . . . Cumbria and Lancashire. . . . quite willing to travel further if I find a walking companion who travels at the same speed as I do!!!! Would love to do a longer walk at a slow pace. . stopping at places of interest. . . but hey I am getting ahead of myself. Can only manage 5-6 miles these days have done 10 this year but really too much and I suffer the next day. My walks are more enjoyable if done at pace where the scenery can be enjoyed and a route march is not a necessity. Can do hills but only with poles and it takes me a while to get down again. . . . . So if you feel that you could put up with me on your walks please contact me. . . . Updated as I have had knee surgery at the end of last year.....still do 5 miles and still love to get out on the low fells...or seeing interesting places - like Malham cove... Regards Lilian

Female Walker, 55, based near Huddersfield

Message: Hi My name's Kate and I'm really interested in improving my walking skills and seeing and enjoying much more of the outdoors, both at weekends and also when I'm free mostly at weekends but sometimes during the week. I'd really like to try new walks and challenges, beginning in the places I've mentioned. I would enjoy some company for this and to maybe have time to have a drink/coffee and chat with, at the end of a walk. I am very interested in meeting people to walk with who might introduce me to new walks, but in a low key, not too serious way. I hope to find folk who want to try regular outings for fun and adventure and to take in as much scenery as possible. Please get in touch if any of this this resonates with you. I shall look forward to hearing from you. Kate

Message: Hi I'm Ross, I'm 29 and based on the Wirral. I get out walking most weeks (mainly weekdays) and mainly in Snowdonia or The Peak District currently but interested in venturing further afield to The Lake District when time allows. I'm looking for someone to share this great hobby and my experiences with (male or female) and for a bit of company on the hills/mountains. I'm happy with any sort of level, however tend to go a bit mad some days and leave myself a bit fragile for a few days afterwards. Female Walker, 59, based near Newby Bridge

Message: I am spending every weekend and holidays in Newby Bridge as I love walking in the Fells. Did Fairfield Horseshoe in snow on Saturday 25th March in sunshine. . . . wonderful! Red Screes on 27th March - again in snow. Looking for walking friends ideally both sexes! Hardly any of my friends have time or interest in the hills so I have been hanging out with Lake District Walkers when no friends around. Am upbeat, enthusiastic and don't take myself seriously. It is all so lovely and I would love to have male and female friends to share the joy of fell walking. I did Ill Bell and Foswick on Saturday 8th April. Afterwards sat in Troutbeck church yard amongst all the daffodils looking at the ridge I had just climbed. What a beautiful spot! Am so impressed with what I have on my doorstep. Gummers How gives fab 360 degree views of fells and estuary. There's two easy local walks at Cartmel Fell and High dam which are beautiful and good for friends who like views and little fells! There's something for everyone here! I also love Wansfell when you've just couple of hours to spare. Still to do Loughrigg Fell and so much more!

Female Walker, 70, based near London Ontario

Message: Hello fellow walkers. I am a 70 year old Canadian female coming to Stratton near Bude for the month of October 2017. I hope to do sections of the coastal path, perhaps more of the Jurassic Coast and possibly Dartmoor. I am a steady walker having completed 100 km of the Camino de Santiago and can anticipate doing up to 12 mile walks over reasonable terrain. Last May I completed the Coastal Path from Penzance to the Lizard finding it challenging but rewarding. Sections of the Jurassic Coast path while less challenging were also completed last May. I would not consider myself to be capable of steep elevations over a short period of time but more leisurely climbs are OK. About Me: When not out and about I knit, cook, read, putter in my garden, lunch with friends, visit art galleries/museums and travel. I hope to meet for good exercise, conversation and social times as I love to end my walks at a pub or café. Get in touch if you have an interest in joining me.

Female Walker, 60, based near Southampton

Message: Retired with plenty of time and passion to be out walking. Sadly the climbs of the SWCP have taken my knees beyond endurance so now I stick to almost flat walks. Can do up to 25K a day taking in the sights and sounds of nature en route so no route march. Focusing on British Canals and their towpaths, having started the Kennet and Avon walking west, Reading to Thatcham so far. Utilising train and bus from hotel or B & B. Also happy to walk in Hampshire, Dorset, Surrey, Berkshire, Oxfordshire avoiding serious descents. Sharing any walk in conversation and shared love of flora and fauna with tea or pub included would be more fun! Long term, finding a fellow walker of either sex who'd have the time and means to roam England, Wales, France, Netherlands, Italy etc with me is also on the agenda.

Male Walker, 56, based near Kent

Message: Hi my name is Richard, I am a keen North Kent/London runner and walker of 57 years. I like nothing more than to explore the great outdoors on foot. Its funny I started walking some years back and when realising I was not as fit as I thought I started to run to improve my hill stamina and caught the bug. I have walked all over the UK either in groups or solo including the West Highland Way, half of the Southwest Coastal Path and half of Offa's Dyke, I'd love to finish these walks one day. The South Downs Way was a great walk achieved in chunks. I have been very interested for a long time and admired the achievements of others who have climbed Mount Everest and finally achieved a lifetime ambition with friends and trekked to Everest Base Camp a few years back, why…'because its there'. I am just back from a trek to Machu Picchu, an incredible life experience. So, where to now, looking for a new challenge with new company.

Female Walker, 59, based near Oakwood

Message: My name is Shelley, widow, originally from South Africa, last 15 years in Hampshire, but currently living/working (flexibly) in north London. I'm looking for a slowish walking companion to do day walks and occasional longer, and build up my flagging fitness levels - been pretty slack over the past year in a very isolating and sedentary job. I'm doing 2 week Camino at the end of May 2017, and at this rate will not be getting very far! Not great on hills at the moment - unless we can stop to admire the scenery on the way up. I work, but days/weeks/even months off are easy to arrange, as job is flexible, and have a car. I've clicked the counties around where I live for day walks but very happy to walk further afield. Lighthearted, friendly, enjoy camping, gardening, reading, nature, novice birder, bit of a home body, care hugely about the planet and could be called a tree hugger. Favourite tipple - plenty of tea or one gin.

Male Walker, 68, based near London

Message: Hi, male walker 68 from the London area. Like walking in Derbyshire as a preference as it is an easy drive from London but Yorkshire is good as are the Brecons. I normally camp as I have a 3 1/2 year old black Labrador so BandBs are not always an option. Have done the likes of Hadrian's Wall, Yorkshire 3 peaks, North Downs and the Brecons in the past but 10/15 miles a day are enough nowadays, especially with the dog. Will be visiting Derbyshire in May and normally stay in Hope and would not mind finding a companion to spend a day or so with. Sorry, but not sure how to attach a photo!!

Message: HI, Late 50's single male walker looking to meet up with a female kindred spirit. Reasonably experienced and fit I can walk an occasional week end, but mainly midweek . Although the Peak district is nearest to me I am willing to travel to new walks in different areas. An inspiring, energetic hike, whether in the hills or following local footpaths with a packed lunch followed by a pub meal is a day well spent, and better shared. So if you're local or further a field and think we may get along, I look forward to hearing from you.
