new Female Walker, 53, based near Lancaster

Message: Hi I have enjoyed walking for many years mostly in the Lake District but have walked in the Yorkshire Dales, Scotland, Wales, a little in Ireland and Spain and love long distance walks like The West Highland Way. Though I don't mind being on the fells alone I so much more enjoy a chat on the way. I walk with friends but am looking for some good company to enjoy a walk maybe a meal and drink at the end of a long day and maybe share other interests. Now my children have grown and left to make their own lives I am happy to walk anywhere and love visiting new place, meeting new people and having new challanges.

new Female Walker, 49, based near Milnthorpe

Message: Hi Moved back to the Lakes a couple of years ago. Have walking friends but not always available when I am, or they are 'fair weather' walkers. I now write a blog about my walks so tend to be out in all weathers. Really love the hills and mountains anywhere, but Cumbria and Dales are very local to me. I have a small dog who follows me most places and is very well behaved. I realised a few weeks ago I had done over half the Wainwrights without thinking about it, so I am now on a bit of a mission. Love to 'talk and walk' so good companion also essential and someone who is not too worried if I stop to take photos. I am well-travelled, reasonably read and eco-friendly, if you think you would enjoy my company would love to hear from you. Alvina

I am always searching out camp sites that allow you to have a campfire as I like to sit by a camp fire with a glass of wine. I also enjoy cooking on the BBQ. I enjoy walking in the hills or at the coast, the challenge of a serious climb, but more importantly I am happy to be outside. I am looking for people to go walking with at weekends.

new Male Walker, 50, based near Berkeley

Message: I am a single man from Berkeley in Gloucestershire who loves walking, I mostly walk in the Cotswold's, Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and over to the Brecon Beacons. I am still interested in walking these areas but would also like to expand and go to Dartmoor, Exmoor and the Peak District for weekend jaunts. I think the Lake District and Snowdonia would be great to re-visit again for longer weekend or week breaks. I have been up Snowdon 3 times and never had a view but I have enjoyed the Welsh Oggie they sell in the Cafe. I plan to do Cadir Idris sometime in 2013. I have walked up the highest mountains in England, Scotland, Wales and both North and South of Ireland in recent years, quite fancy a trip to Skye sometime too and perhaps a good long week in Scotland. Oh, I also own a 3 person Canadain canoe and a Single Sit on Kayak but can't swim very well!! Paddy

new Male Walker, 62, based near Nth W Leicestershire

Message: Hi, I walk regularly in all weathers and though I like getting up somewhere reasonably high (love Tryfan) I'm happy walking the valleys and dales too. I walk to see what's there, not to tick it off and so don't believe it's necessary to do distance or height just for the sake of it. I also enjoy camping , windsurfing and occasional cycling. I'm outgoing, fit, dependable and a fairly competent navigator. I'm looking for someone of similar ilk but female to join me, age isn't important, but you must be a non smoker so if you would like to see more of our wonderful country and mix it with good company, lively conversation ( light hearted or serious ), plenty of laughter, and an after walk meal or drink then write. I'm free most weekends and occasional weekdays too. Chris

I also do a bit of cycling, running, swimming and horse riding and I'm an occasional climber. Basically I like being outside for as long as possible in my free time! Message: With increasing numbers of my married friends finding it difficult to walk at the sort of short notice the Yorkshire weather sometimes dictates, I'm on the lookout for new walking companions that share my passion for hill walking. I try to get out into the NY Moors or Dales as frequently as possible. Weekends to Snowdonia and Cumbria are always treasured. I usually manage to walk abroad once a year (the Julian Alps in Slovenia are my absolute favourite). Would love to hook up with like minded people to share a walk or two so please get in touch. new Female Walker, 34, based near Romford

Message: When I first moved to the UK from Canada, one of the things that I looked forward to most was walking in places where I didn't have to worry about bears or overly-aggressive deer! Five years on, I've managed to climb Snowdon, bag a couple of Munros (including Ben Nevis), and been on several mid-length walks from places as varied as Unst in Shetland to the North Downs Way, but that's about it. I would describe myself as a woman who is young at heart with a good sense of humour. I enjoy comedy, theatre, films, reading and history. I'm reasonably fit, a dog-lover (in spite of not having any of my own at the moment), and happy to travel to meet up for walks - or pitch in for petrol - as needed. I'm good at reading maps, but my compass using skills definitely need some work. As I work full-time, any walking is limited to weekends and school holidays.

Message: HI, Mid 50's single male walker looking to meet up with a female kindred spirit. Reasonably experienced and fit I can walk on occasions midweek but mainly week ends. Although the Peak district is nearest to me I am willing to travel to new walks in different areas. An inspiring, energetic hike, whether in the hills or following local footpaths with a packed lunch followed by a pub meal is a day well spent, and better shared. So if you're local or further a field and think we may get along, I look forward to hearing from you.
