Female Walker, 41, based near Newport Pagnell

Message: Hello I'm Joanne and I enjoy all types of walking, from casual local walking to the more serious mountain walking and scrambling. Have walked with mountaineering clubs and friends with walks that range from 3/4 hours in the Peaks to mountain walks in North Wales, Lake District and Scotland. Have manged Anach Eagach Ridge on a clear day scrambling over the pinnacles and would like to develop my scrambling further. Am keen to meet people who are local to my area for day walks as well as join up with some weekend mountain walking guys and girls.

Male Walker, 32, based near London

Message: Hi. I've been to the Lake District for holidays 5 or so times over the years and whilst I'd never really kept track of exactly where I went previously, I'm keen to bag a few more peaks in the Lake District. I've done the National Three Peaks before, although I'd have to say I'm probably better with endurance than speed! Would be interested to hear from anyone that might like to join me in the Lakes for a walk (or several walks!) Hopefully finish off a walk with a pleasant pint of good ale.

Message: HiI, i am 46, easy going and love adventure and nature, i am equally happy to take a short walk as i am to go up a mountain or go scrambling although I have to admit to not getting up one for the last couple of years for various reasons. I am happy to do local walks but also venture further affield, I love to finish off a good walk with a nice local pub, and also happy to camp on further afield trips. Enjoy cycling and golf also but i have friends who are happy to do these with me, however they do think that walking is something you do when the car has broken down hence the message. Male Walker, 35, based near Barnard Castle

Message: Hiya. . . I'm Jon… I'm an easy-going, well-travelled guy who has in the course of the last year rediscovered my love of walking/hiking in our great outdoors. It's also been great to regain some fitness that had begun to wane over time. Currently I tend to look for mid-level walks as I build up my stamina - and try to not stop for as many breathers on those pesky uphill sections :p My normal walking companion has been an Energizer-powered Lab :) but it would be great to also have a female hike buddy to talk to, lean on and share good days out with. In terms of myself, somehow I seem to have ended up in my mid-30's over the last few years, but would be very comfortable with anyone from their mid-20's to early 40's. I am based in Teesdale in Co. Durham so it gives me great access to quite a few areas and I have no problems jumping in the car for an hour to get to a great walk. I tend to go out on Mondays and/or Tuesdays due to my slightly weird shift pattern - although of course holiday weeks give me more flexibility. If you would like to know anything else just drop me a line and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Jon

Male Walker, 32, based near Derby

Message: Hi all. I'm a 32 year old male from Derby, whom has quite recently developed a passion for the great outdoors - a passion, unfortunately, not shared with my city-going friends. My walking boots don't get to see anywhere near as much terrain as they deserve to, and I'm hoping that this website can change that. I am therefore, looking for some company, male or female - age not an issue - who enjoys the walking, the fresh air, the exercise, and especially the scenery as much as I do. Whether it's a quiet, easy stroll, or something more demanding over several days, I really don't mind. The weather is also not a problem to me - like any sensible person, I prefer the sun to be in the sky and a mild breeze to be in the air, but I also enjoy walks in varying climates as long as I remember to pack the correct gear! :-) If anybody reading this post feels in a similar situation, then please get in touch and drop me a message. I look forward to responding. Thanks. Matt.

Male Walker, 55, based near Moreton

Message: Hello everyone! My name is John, I'm single and live on the 'Wirral'. I'm hoping to meet new people (m/f) who share my passion for walking in beautiful, peaceful landscapes. I'm a friendly, easy going person and I'm still in good physical shape for my age! My love of the outdoors began when I was 14 years of age with regular camping, climbing and walking trips to the nearby mountains of Snowdonia and throughout my adult life I have continued to explore the many wonderful walking opportunities offered in Britain and Europe. I take a relaxed and flexible approach in my walking (no forced marches!) with plenty of time to admire the scenery, investigate flora/fauna and take photographs. I'm interested in finding companions for a wide range of walks; it could be an easy day walk topped off with a good pub meal and a glass or two of wine or beer, or perhaps a more ambitious long trek backpacking and wild camping in fantastic remote terrain. Good company, wonderful views and a little exercise - my idea of a perfect day!! If any of this sounds interesting to you then I'd be really happy if you get in contact with me. Best wishes!

Message: I live in Essex and later on this year I am doing a charity trek in the Sahara. So at the moment I am trying to get lots of walks in! Typically I walk about 10 miles but it's fairly flat where I live so I'd like to go a bit further afield and it would be good to have some company. I work part-time so sometimes walk on weekdays, sometimes weekends depending whether my children are staying with me or their dad.

Female Walker, 42, based near Leeds

Message: Hello I'm Caroline, and I'm looking for male and female friends of all ages to go walking with. Over the years I've been on a few trekking holidays abroad, but I'm now keen to make walking a more regular part of my life instead of a 2/3 times a year treat. I'm reasonably fit so I'm happy to walk at various levels, from an evening wander while the nights are still light to an 8am start on a Saturday morning to make the most of the weekend. As much as the walking I just love getting outdoors, but I'd much rather be out with company. Apart from a charity climb of Snowdon in March and four days on the Pennine Way over Easter I haven't explored many routes, but I did buy a couple of walking books about a year ago and it would be great to finally open them and use them. I've decided to do the Coast-to-Coast sometime in the next twelve months, and it's at least fifteen years since I last did the Three Peaks. It's probably worth mentioning I currently work Monday to Friday 9 to 5, so I have to work around that. I'm a driver so I'm happy to travel within reason, the desired areas I ticked are not set in stone I just thought it better to tick something. However, I can also see the benefits of public transport so we can reward ourselves with a big glass of wine or pint of ale at the end of our day. Please get in touch if you would like to meet up.

Male Walker, 61, based near Hitchin

Message: Hi, I'm Ian, I live on the Herts/Beds border and like to walk at weekends in surrounding counties and would enjoy some female company along the way. I am 61, reasonably fit and like walks of about 8 to 12 miles, more on the flat but less if it's steep. I have mostly been walking solo which can be extremely rewarding , but not always. My walks almost always include a pub stop for a pint and a meal. Although most of my walks are local I do join with a group from work occasionally for a change; this year we spent a long weekend in Brecon Beacons, next year probably the Isle of Man. I have started on the Icknield Way long distance path which I am doing in about 10 mile stages whenever the fancy takes me. If any of you female walkers out there would like a companion, please drop me a line.

Male Walker, 50, based near Rochdale

Message: I'm a quiet friendly walker and would like to meet up with any kindred spirits who love wild places. I'm out and about mainly at weekends, mostly in Lancs/West Yorkshire, Lakes, N. Wales or the Yorkshire Coast. I work as an occasional volunteer warden for the YHA and have a great love of the Highland and Islands. I've also done some longish backpacking treks in Spain and Norway – solo and with friends and would like to do more. I also jointly own a small place in the mountains of southern Spain, which I enjoy pottering around. I enjoy solo walking, but not 100% of the time. Friends are now partnered and preoccupied with raising families or have emigrated – hence this ad. I love wildflowers, traditional pubs and music, hedgehogs, rhododendrons in spring, maple trees in autumn, starry skies and wood smoke in winter. Thanks for reading and please feel free to say 'hello'.
