Message: Hi, I used to be a keen walker but seemed to have fallen off the beaten track for a while. With a bit more spare time (weekends) it would be good to get back into it again. I'm happy on any type of walk, whether it be the local Peckforton Hills, the Peak district, Wales or the Lakes and I'm ok with a map and compass . If you would like a bit of company while out on a walk, it would be good to hear from you.

Message: I love walking in the Cumbrian Mountains, the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors but, unfortunately, have nowhere near enough opportunities to get away and do so during term time. You may now have figured out that I am a teacher! I run the Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award scheme for my school and I am a qualified ML(S). I am happy to walk solo but it's much more fun to walk with a companion. Most of my colleagues run a mile when I suggest a walk or a night's wild camping. So if any one is out there who might like to get together for a day out on fells or Dales; maybe even two, please get in touch. Tom

Message: Hello I am John and have recently moved into the south lakes area. I am looking for a walking companion male / female to join me on walks grade 3-4-5-6-7. I am recently retired and enjoy walking, sailing, basically anything which gets me outside into this wonderful area. I enjoy both hill walks and occasionally walking along a river or around a lake. I have a well behaved rescued blue roan cocker spaniel who also enjoys a good walk so another dog would not be a problem. At the end of a walk there is nothing better than a drink and maybe a pub lunch. look forward to hearing from any like minded person. John

Female Walker, 37, based near Nantwich

Message: Hi, I've lived round here for a few years now but am yet to find some like minded walking buddies who are not tied up with small children and the likes. I would really love to get out there into the great outdoors on some proper walks. I do lots of little dog walking ones locally but I'd really love to get over to North Wales for example or the Lakes or anywhere I can really escape from Nantwich. It seems such a waste to have all that on my doorstep and not make use of it!! So I'm hoping to find some like-minded people or a walking group I can go with so please do get in touch if your interested and not too far away. Jess

Message: Looking for a hiking partner this weekend. Snowdonia.tryfan and glyders. Routes all planned. Early start Saturday back Monday. Or join me for a day. Been let down by friends.not superfit so leisurely pace. Any takers. Hi i Love the outdoors and have been peak bagging for a few years. But not in a geeky way. Not into football and stuff so decided to start peak bagging as I needed a thing. Climbed most peaks in the beacons and several in snowdonia and the lakes. Love walking can't get friends to join me so getting a bit lonely. I don't take it too seriously but love a challenge and s drink or three at the end of the day. Think I'm a normal non weird or axe murderer type. Similar traits appreciated. Don't care age Just want to have a laugh keep fit and enjoy the outdoors with some good company.

Message: I live in North London. I enjoy day walks in the Home Counties with a walking club I've belonged to for some years. I am interested in going further afield with another walker (m or f) for more than day hikes, perhaps revisiting some of the English national trails I walked in past decades. I don't rule out Wales or Scotland where I also know some areas. I like classical music, pub conversation, reading, crossword solving, planning and leading walks. For much of my life I have been involved in local politics but ready to give these a miss in my retirement. I am divorced with one grown-up daughter who lives with me.

Female Walker, 51, based near Alfreton

Message: Hi fellow walkers, living in North East Derbyshire gives me easy access to the Peak District and Wales, Northumberland and the Lakes are 3-4 hours away and need a lot more exploration. The closer I am to water, the better. I am happy to walk 10-15miles (and have done 22 by accident, a longer story...), scrambling is not my forte (fear of heights...I know) but standing on top of a hill feels so good. Could you help me with my map reading? I don't get lost, I just find new places in unexpected ways and it may take a bit longer to get back home but those walks turn out to be the best. That's the adventurer in me. This adventurer has a tent in the car just in case, sets off for France without a fixed plan or goes out on the motorbike to see what's round the next corner. Once I sit down I read, write, play chess or Scrabble and enjoy the views over the open countryside from the patio. Outdoors is a good place and I'd love to hear from you if you want to share it. I have joined a couple of walking groups and they are very welcoming but not all walks have to be with a bunch of people. If you want to join me solo or with the bunch please get in touch and let's see where it takes us. Safe walking, Karen

Message: Hi, I'm on the lookout for new walking companions that share my passion for hill walking. I try to get out into the North York Moors or Dales as frequently as possible. Female Walker, 51, based near South Lakes, Cumbria

Message: Hi, I am a straight single female looking for walking companions/buddies Female and Male, in their 30's/40's /50's -hopefully forming good friendships, and walking buddies, to have a good laugh and chat along the way. I act and look much younger than my years. I don't take life too seriously and have a very good sense of humour. I love nature/wildlife, photography, and to end the walk at a tearoom or pub. My preferred area is the Lake District (as I live in the Lakes), and Yorkshire Dales, but I 'am open to walking other areas such as Snowdonia, Scotland, etc. I am a fit and active person, always up for adventure, who enjoys walking the high Lake District Fells, including some scrambling, but I also enjoy walking the valleys or along the lakeshores. I have recently taken up to indoor climbing too. I love Scotland and have been to the Trossachs and the Isle of Skye and trekked some of the Cuillins and the Quiraing which gave me a taste to trek more Munro's. I have completed all 214 Wainwrights and The Pennine Way. I like to take in the scenery and photographs along my walks, not frogmarch straight to the top! I don't mind any length of walk, but on average a good walk of 8-15 miles or even more is fab! I hope to hear from you. Ps- Border Collies are my favourite breed of dog!

Message: What a great site to find, not as much as any hill or mountain top though. I'm a frequent walker, occasionally getting myself out of my comfort zone and pushing myself that bit more. I guess you'd say I'm developing my navigation skills, occasionally using technology to help out. That said, I am comfortable using a map and compass and yet to get myself in any bother on the hills. It would be nice to find someone willing to venture out onto the hills/mountains of our fantastic country. There's still so much to discover. I have transport and able to camp rough, well in a campervan if that counts!

Male Walker, 48, based near Harlow

Message: Hi there, I'm looking to meet new people interested in walking (funnily enough!), companionship and chatting - I'm a good listener ;). The last 3 years I have been winter hiking and climbing in the mountains around Glencoe learning navigation and avalanche skills, and the conditions were at times quite fierce! However, I now have a taste for some hiking outside of bleak winter conditions. With this in mind, whilst I do enjoy a tough challenging hike in the mountains, I do also appreciate the beauty of nature and can enjoy a much more gentle day in the hills with good company and an associated pub lunch! It would be great to meet someone who's been walking for a while since they would know all the good walks! I'm not a peak bagger (not sure if that's the correct expression!) but am not averse to trying any peaks that come across my path. I'm generally pretty fit because in addition to hiking I like to run, cycle, and swim, leading an active and outdoor-orientated lifestyle. I have my own transport and am happy to travel some distance to find a decent walk in the hills or mountains (I live in Essex so there aren't that many around!). I am free mainly at weekends but can do weekdays if I have enough notice and there is enough to entice me along as I would need to book time off work. Please drop me line if interested or you'd like more info. Look forward to hearing from you. . . Andy.

Message: Whether a gentle stroll or a challenging trekking holiday, I'm always keen to pull on my walking boots and head off to places best seen on foot. I discovered the joys of walking whilst training for the London Moonwalk in 2007, and since then I've covered many miles in the UK, including Hadrian's Wall and climbing Snowdon, Ben Nevis and Scafell (although not all in one day) I've also spent a week walking in the beautiful french Pyrenees and completed two trekking holidays - in Kerala and to Everest Base Camp, both incredible experiences, and I'd love to do more e. g. Machu Picchu. My other passion is skiing, and I've recently returned to the UK having taken a short career break to work in the french Alps last winter (the oldest chalet maid in town!) Now back behind a desk full time - suffering 'cabin fever' - I'm keen to get out walking as much as possible at weekends, please get in touch if you'd like to join me.

Message: Hi there, I'm a 44 year old male living in Oxfordshire, who loves to spend occasional days/weekends walking the South West Coast Path and Pembrokeshire Coast Path. I'm also partial to walks in the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons, and would love to get to know mid-Wales better. I'm also keen to explore Exmoor and Dartmoor. I spent my younger years bagging the Munros, and still love the occasional visit north of the Border, as well as walking in the Swiss Alps a couple of times a year. Am looking for a female who has a similar interest in these areas and would like to join me on trips. I have my own transport and would be happy to provide lifts as necessary. Mark

Message: Hello I live in north of Bristol and go walking with friends in the areas I've ticked, but would like to meet some new people to enjoy walking with at weekends. Anything from 6 to 12 miles is good for me. I like footpaths rather than lanes and anywhere that has amazing views and archaeology to explore. I can drive or happy to take public transport to get to a circular walk route. Think I'm OK company, happy to chat along the way with other walkers. Message: Hi my name's Jenny. Walked with my husband until he died since when it's become a large part of my life but I find now I'm more ambitious than some of my friends and I'm left feeling unsatisfied. It would be good to walk with someone, male or female, who was able to travel to new areas in order to appreciate more of Britain's wonderful countryside. A comfortable distance for me would be between 10 and 12 miles and I particularly enjoy long distant paths, having completed the Cotswold Way, the Coast 2 Coast, West Highland Way and Dales Way to name a few. I'll walk in any weather, can read a map and enjoy arriving to a good meal and glass of red. I'm keen to do more walks in Northumberland and the south east of England.
