All are well within the capabilities of the average fell walker and - after doing all that uphill work to reach a mountain summit - it would be a shame not to venture at least some way along the ridge before descending again to a well earned drink

In any event, all are fabulous walks in their own right offering great days out in the mountains with some of the finest views in Wales. So make sure you go on a nice day if you can.

NB. 'Ridge' Walks should not be confused with 'Edge' Walks.

'Ridge' walks involve easy walking along a wide, undulating path high in the mountains. There are lots to choose from and once you have made the initial ascent up onto the ridge, you will be able to follow a wide, clear path with broad extensive views to either side.

While some ridge walks have a steep craggy drop on one side - all are wide enough to enable you to walk well back from the edge if this is your preferred route.

On the other hand 'Edge' walks are much less common and involve walking along a knife edge with a steep drop on both sides. To undertake 'Edge' walks you will need to be sure of foot and require a good head for heights. Whilst some people seek out the adrenalin rush these Edge Walks offer, they are not for everybody.

The only real 'Edge' in Wales is Crib Goch. To find a walk up Crib Goch, enter Crib Goch into our Walk Search facility.
