Win Tickets to the Hay-on-Wye walking festival worth £120
The inaugural Hay Walking Festival is taking place from Friday 7th - Sunday 9th October. The purpose of the festival is to showcase the best walking and scenery that the area has to offer and to attract visitors to the area out of the main tourist season.
Many people associate Hay-on-Wye with books: as home to the annual literary festival, and a centre for second hand and antiquarian bookshops.
But it is also a wonderful centre for walking, with easy access to the Brecon Beacons National Park, Offa's Dyke Trail, the Black Mountains, the Wye Valley, the Golden Valley and the Black & White Villages of Herefordshire.
The Festival has 22 guided walks for all ages and abilities, from full days to a few hours, together with some special interest walks led by experts with knowledge of local history, archaeology, and geology.
There are opportunities too to acquire new skills including Nordic walking techniques, map reading and map interpretation.
There is also a programme of evening events for those not too exhausted by daytime activities.
The Festival is being organised by the Hay Tourism Group, a small group of local businesses and accommodation providers committed to the development of sustainable tourism in and around Hay-on-Wye.
