Base map for using GPS function without cell access

When do you expect this app will be available? I am walking the Coast to Coast in Sept. I want digital base maps for my phone. I would like to use just the GPS function without cell access. Which base maps and which app should I get? I've looked at Anquet and OS. I am sort of confused about what to do. Can you help clearing this up for me and making a recommendation? I have downloaded go4awalk GPS waypoints for the walk . . .
