In-use Test:

I've worn the Sprayway Anakin Pro Shell Pant for Men (in combination with the Sprayway Anakin Pro Shell Jacket for Men) during some lengthy walks in the Peak District and the North Pennines during the Autumn months. The weather during these trips has been predominantly showery and windy and damp.

When compared to the ubiquitous Gore-tex XCR fabric (which was replaced in the latter half of 2007) the new Gore-Tex Pro Shell fabric is lighter and less bulky which results in a pair of very light-weight waterproof trousers that pack down easily into the supplied stuff-sack for easy stowing and retrieval. The fabric is also smooth with a much nicer feel that glides easily over my tracksters.

Did the Sprayway Anakin Pro Shell Pant keep my lower half dry? Absolutely yes, even during the heaviest rain.

The overall fit is good (I'm male, 5'11", stocky build - I was wearing the XL) though not particularly flattering (which suits me!) and were plenty long enough for me (two different leg lengths are available). The waist is elasticated and adjustable (which also suits me!) so getting a nice secure fit was quick and easy. The articulated knees also provided a good range of leg movement.

Sadly, there are no side pockets, and worse, there aren't any pocket height 'slits' to access pockets in your under trousers. This means that if you want to get anything out of or into your trouser pockets you have to take off your back pack and lift up your jacket, exposing your nice and dry mid-rift to the elements, before thrusting your arm down through the elasticated waist-band. If you habitually do not carry anything you might need in your trouser pockets though, this will not be a problem to you.

There isn't any additional reinforcement on the inside of the lower legs or on the seat so these areas may start to wear over time particularly if you use crampons or enjoy scrambling.

Buying Advice:

Superbly light-weight, easy-to-carry, water-proof trousers that will keep you dry in even the heaviest rain. In my view, the lack of access to your under trouser pockets is a serious omission, but if this is not important to you then the Sprayway Anakin Pro Shell Pant for Men waterproof trousers are a real contender for your hard earned cash.
