Shewee says:"Shewee, the portable urinating device, is a moulded, water repellent plastic funnel that allows women to urinate whilst standing or sitting and without removing clothes."

Features to Note:

In-use Test:

Like many other female walkers, I've long ago grown tired of the tedium associated with a loo stop - the fight with nettles and thistles, the misery of coping with wet or cold weather, the risk of 'discovery' in mid -flow by other walkers or - as in my case during a Dartmoor walk recently - an entire army platoon out on a 'yomp'!

So - I was definitely interested when presented with a Shewee to try out.

The model I've used is the Shewee Extreme. This differs from the more basic version in that it comes with an 'extension' tube (for use wearing bulkier clothes) plus its own carrying case.

My first observation is that you really, really do need to practise with this first. To be fair, the manufacturer does recommend that you experiment with the Shewee in the shower first. I rather optimistically did not and my first outing with the Shewee was not a great success.

In my subsequent try-outs (back in the shower!), I discovered that holding the Shewee tight up against you isn't the best approach as this does result in a backing-up/overflow situation which is a bit of a nuisance to say the least. I found it worked best if there was a little bit of a gap around the front and I tried to 'control' the flow a little.

I think I've now perfected my 'technique' so I'm going to try it again on my next walk. I shall report back.

Buying Advice:

The Shewee certainly provides women with a more discrete way of handling the 'loo-stop'. Modesty aside, it also avoids the need to remove bits of clothing in cold or wet weather which means there's less risk of losing body heat during your stop.

But do practise first.
