The Southern Fells Area of The Yorkshire Dales National Park is roughly the area South of the A684 from Sedbergh to Leyburn via Hawes; a line drawn from Leyburn south to Ilkley; The south western edge of the park boundary (A65) from Ilkley to Kirkby Lonsdale via Skipton, Gargrave, Settle, Clapham and Ingleton; and a line drawn from Kirkby Lonsdale to Sedbergh.

There are 47 'tops' to walk up and conquor, the highest point is Whernside and the area includes:

16 Mountains (aka Hewitts) and
31 Hills (aka Bridgets)
