| 10th Birthday: The Paramo Cascada Jacket - Revolutionary then, a classic now. | |
| In 2006, the Cascada jacket, Páramo’s best-selling and longest-running jacket, celebrates its 10th birthday out on the hills.
During this decade, more than 43,000 very satisfied customers of all ages ranging from whole rambling groups to Ione Munro walkers to Search & Rescue Teams, have enjoyed traversing the hills in their Cascadas. Many of the originals are still in use. More recently, birdwatchers and outdoors photographers have also begun to appreciate the benefits of the Cascada when encountering the elements.
Back in 1996, the combination of the unique Nikwax Analogy fabric with Páramo’s forward thinking design (such as Velcro cuffs!) set the Cascada apart. The Cascada has since won accolades from many outdoor titles, but more importantly continues to be popular with walkers of all ages. |

What are the features that have ensured the longevity of the Cascada?
Unsolicited testimonials from pleased customers over the years confirm that more and more people have entered a long and happy relationship with Páramo. Many have added the Cascada trousers and a Páramo base layer to achieve the ultimate in outdoor comfort on the hills.
“Over the years, the jacket has kept me dry and comfortable from Keswick to the Karakoram; last year we staggered up Kilimanjaro together. During this time I must have purchased and rejected three or four different cags, but found nothing so cosy and efficient as my old favourite. The feature that really ensures that it’s permanently in my rucksack, however, is the hood. Spacious enough to accommodate a helmet but snug enough to keep out the elements without restricting vision too much, for my money this is the best-designed hood in the market.” Mr A Anderson – Old is Beautiful competition
“I have just returned from the Lakes having spent 3 days walking from hotel to hotel in my new Cascada jacket. Day 1 was gale force winds and drizzle. Day 2 gale force winds and very heavy rain for 7 hours. I stayed dry and comfortable inside my jacket. The hood was excellent for both rain and wind and the whole thing dried rapidly once I was indoors.
I had been hunting for a new waterproof for nearly a year and was adamant I wanted a winter weight Gore-Tex. None seemed comfortable and I decided to try the Páramo. I am very pleased and my husband is frightened that my evangelistical approach my harm his bank balance (Men!). Mrs J Lagan
To celebrate a decade of production, Páramo will be offering the biggest array of colours yet in the Cascada, with seven colours each in the Men’s and Ladies’ Cascadas, ranging from muted natural tones for those who like to blend in with nature to vivid turquoise and cobalt for those who prefer to stand out!.
