| October Outdoor Fest 06 - New Dates Announced | ![]() |
| Gaynor Sports, Ambleside, is gearing up
for the October Outdoor Fest. This year’s event will run from
21st to 28th October during the busy half term week. A packed programme
of events will offer something every day of the festival for outdoor
enthusiasts of all ages and levels. The purpose of the event, as in
previous successful years, is to raise badly needed funds for the
Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team.
Leading experts from the major outdoor brands, including Berghaus, Craghoppers, The North Face, Regatta, Silva and W L Gore, will be supporting the weeklong event offering advice on equipment. The October Outdoor Fest events programme will offer a range of guided walks, opportunities to test equipment, workshops, special promotions and competitions. Our ever-popular evening events will include an evening with Alan Hinkes OBE and a lecture from Mick Fowler in conjunction with The North Face, titled ‘On Thin Ice’ (which is also the name of his new book). Alan, who is supported by Berghaus, was recently awarded an OBE for services to sport after becoming the first Briton to climb all 14 of the world’s highest peaks.
Gaynor’s Managing Director Paul Gaynor said: “The October Outdoor Fest has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2002, last year’s event attracted high visitors numbers whilst raising £4,500 for the Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team. The event also looks at building and embracing the existing links between the outdoor industry and the public. We believe that our event has something for everyone and is unparalleled by anything else on the outdoor map this Autumn and are very grateful for the support and commitment we receive from the UK’s leading outdoor brands, suppliers and distributors.”
