Specialist distributor of climbing equipment, Allcord Limited, to distribute 'Tendon' rope |
|
Allcord has secured the UK Distribution for "Tendon". This is the new name for the range of dynamic and static ropes developed specifically for the climbing market by the long-established Czech Republic ropemaker Lanex. Unique features include Teflon® protection to the yarns as well as microchips embedded in the rope ends which hold manufacturing details and give users the facility to add their own identification and inspection records for each rope.
Allcord Managing Director Alan Birkmyre said:
“With rope being such a speciality for Allcord, we have been tracking the progress of Lanex ever since they entered the world market after the Czech "Velvet Revolution" in 1989. We have noted the impressive development of their products, seen them engaging expertise from other European countries and introducing features since copied by others. All this combined with the benefit of the lower cost-base provided by Czech Republic manufacture, means that “Tendon” climbing ropes are becoming a major force and a brand that Allcord is delighted to be working with.”
Tendon offers a wide range of CE-marked rope constructions and finishes. New features unique to Tendon ropes include DuPont™ Teflon® nanotechnology to impregnate the yarns and protect against water and grit intrusion; the use of special staple fibres for improved resistance to heat build-up when abseiling; the TeROM system of rope marking using a microchip embedded in the end of the rope. The TeROM microchip holds manufacturing details specific to the rope as well as giving users the facility to add their own identification and inspection records for that rope. Utilizing a special scanner and software from Tendon, all data is transferred to a standard PC or laptop. This unique facility will be of particular value to group-users such as outdoor centres and rescue services where record-keeping is so important. Various rope treatments are available for particular special uses. These include Tendon's “Antistat” and “Fire Shield” finishes.
