| Allcord cease UK distribution of ’Millet’ brand | |
Prior to finalizing the Tendon distribution, Allcord had decided to cease distributing the French brand of “Millet” products in the UK. This had meant mainly climbing ropes and to a small extent one model of rockshoe. Allcord are now distributing the American brand of “Acopa” rockshoes. Replacing Millet clothing with a more climbing-specific range, Allcord has taken on the UK distribution of “Lost Arrow” from Germany.
The Acopa range of rockshoes, popular in the USA, is available for the first time in Europe. Acopa was founded by Dario Piana and Ernesto Vasquez in 1997 in the Mexican climbing town of Guadalajara. Working with the legendary American climber John Bachar as technical consultant, Acopa have developed a range of products which have received excellent reviews in the American climbing press. Unlike other climbing shoes, which use sticky synthetic rubber, Acopa have natural rubber soles made from the bark of the guayule, a plant indigenous to the tough deserts of Mexico.
“Lost Arrow” was founded in the early 1990’s and is based in the Bavarian Alps, Lost Arrow is owned by two climbing friends, Michael Meisl and Wolfgang Rimbeck. After many years climbing in Europe and the USA they wanted to develop their own style of climbing clothing that reflected their passion for the sport. The Lost Arrow range is aimed at climbers and boulderers who want functional yet stylish clothing. There is a wide variety of T-shirts and tops with innovative prints, made from cotton or cotton/Lycra, both for men and for women. The trousers and shorts are tailored to allow plenty of freedom of movement and are similarly made from cotton or cotton/Lycra. There is also a range of chalk bags, crash pads and mid-layer fleeces.
