Walk Profiles
The walk profile shown on each go4awalk.com walk is a rough guide to the amount of ascent and descent you will encounter on each walk.
It is relative to the start of the walk, not sea level. For example, even though the summit of Helvellyn is some 949m (3113ft) above sea level it is only 800m above the starting point in Glenridding since Glenridding is already 150m above sea level.
Similarly, the figure given for the ascent on each walk is a total of all the
ascents likely to be encountered on each walk, not an indication of the height
above sea level you may attain. That figure is given beside individual spot
heights.
