In-use Test:

I've tried the Vango Stainless Steel Food Flask out on a few cold days when I wanted a lunch-time that involved a more substantial soup than my usual favourite (Heinz tomato - yum). I've also used it to transport a chilli sauce for the first night of a camp trip. On both of these occasions, the flask worked really well.

What didn't work so well was pasta plus sauce which seemed to go through a phase-change during the course of the day which meant it was very hard to extract from the flask (we had to use a stick - which broke!).

To be fair, better cookery brains than mine would probably have predicted this so this is not a shortcoming of the Flask at all.

A minor complaint, though, was that the carrying strap became detached from its top attachment point during my first trip.

Buying Advice:

Relatively light weight and with enough volume to provide a hot, liquid or semi-liquid meal for two people (e.g. chilli-con-carne, spaghetti bolognese or a curry).

If you have room in your daypack (it's obviously bulkier that many day flasks), it is great if you want a hot meal at the top of a cold mountain.

As part of your camping kit this is an excellent way to have cheap pre-prepared home-cooked food on a campsite - where cooking anything slightly complicated can be problematic.

And of course, flasks like this are equally good at keeping things cool on hot days.
