Q. Can you wild camp in Italy??
Edward Lane, Brighton
A. I have been camping in the Dolomites in Northern Italy for three years in a row now and have not found anywhere where wild camping is accepted, indeed the majority of the national parks in that region ban wild camping and are quite vogorous in enforcing the ban. There are however plenty of good campsites around, or riffugios, kind of like a YHA hostel but smaller and more basic, always a good idea to book in advance for these!! The majority of riffugios are in the mountains either near the summit or on long distance paths and are great places to stay!
