Wheelchair Access in Snowdonia

Hi

I am a wheelchair user, I use an electric wheelchair and am as adventurous as the wheelchair allows me to be.

I am holidaying in North Wales soon and am looking for suitable walks minus styles, steps.

Can anyone suggest any suitable walks?

Look forward to replies, thanks.

A. Like the previous questioner, I am looking for electric wheelchair navigable 'walks' in North Wales.

Specifically, is the path to Cwm Idwal (lake level) navigable with able-bodied assistance? I know that many paths have been re-constructed but can't recall if there are still boulder tracts.

Essentially, we need 10cm ground clearance (20cm wheels) between 60 cm wheel track on gravel or hard earth, possibly with occasional get-off-and-walk bits with the vehicle running light. Anyone with experience?

A. I believe the path up to and round Llyn Idwal - see Walks gw115 gw147 gw187 gw219 - is constructed from rounded stones with deep clefts in between and, in my unqualified opinion, very difficult to negotiate with a wheel chair. Sorry about that.

This may not be quite what you had in mind - but The Snowdon Mountain Railway goes all the way to the summit of Snowdon - and I'm sure you could hitch a ride. Since this is the highest point in England and Wales you would certainly get a feel for the high mountains.

The railway starts in Llanberis on the A4086 between Caernarfon to Betws-y-Coed.
