Which Waterproof Jacket

Q. Your Gear Guides (see below) are excellent, but I'm hoping someone will be able to give me a bit more help with choosing a waterproof jacket.

There is just such a huge array on the market, from £300 to £20 - not to mention all the different types of Gore-tex fabric!

The more I look into it, the more confused I become.

I'm looking at a relatively lightweight jacket for about £150, with Gore-tex Saturn (I think) and a Polartec 100gsm fleece as a mid layer - I know I can get a heavier fleece or add another one for colder weather.

Will this be enough for day-long hikes in the Peaks? Or do I really need to go out and spend £250 to keep warm and dry?

I was hoping that someone with a bit more experience could advise me.

A. Take a look at the link below - Paramo seems to be pretty popular.

If you spend £250 - yo will probably not need to buy another jacket for a long long time. In most cases, the more you spend - the better the water proof jacket will be.
