Q. Myself and three others got lost at the Coconino National Forest in Arizona thanks to the Garmin Etrex.
After reinstalling batteries, a bogus straight line appeared
on the screen (which I didn't see until I switched screens about two hours
later) creating a false staring point.
Has anyone had this problem before?
I did clear all tracks prior to removing batteries back in February.
We ended up walking in circles for eight hours.

A. Its your own silly fault for relying on technology instead of common sense. Why didn't you use your map and compass for route finding and use your GPS for confirming your position - like you are supposed to?
You did have a map and compass with you didn't you??
